Quick Start
The followingsteps allow you to quicklyset up and work with your AT-VP504E FXO. For more details on the various setup options, please read the AT-VP504E FXO’s AdministrationManual.
The following steps must be observed:
2. Install the new software into the AT-VP504E FXO.
Step 1 - Install the AT-VP504E FXO, revert to factory default settings
and configure the devices
Warning: To avoid electrical shock, apply the following instructions:
The device must be installed by technical personnel.
Make sure the ground path is connected.
The power supply cord is used as the main disconnect device, so
ensure that the equipment is installed near a socket-outlet that is easily accessible.
Disconnect the 4 PSTN interface connectors before disconnecting the power cord from the device.
Warning: To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or larger telecommunication line cord.
1. With a 10/100 Hub and two (2) 10/100 BaseT Ethernet RJ-45 straight cables, connect both cables to the Hub; one of them is connected into the Ethernet connector of the AT-VP504E FXO and the other one links the computer to the Hub.
Alternatively, you can connect a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet RJ-45 crossover cableintothe Ethernet connector of the AT-VP504E FXO and connect the other end to your computer.
2. Reconfigure the IP address of your computer to 192.168.0.10 by accessing Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network.IntheProtocols tab, highlight the TCP/IP protocol and click Properties.IntheIP address tab, choose Specify an IP address. Enter the IP Address of 192.168.0.10 and
H.323 Version
the Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0. Close all of the windows and reboot your computer.
3. Insert a small paper clip into the Default Settings hole of the AT-VP504E FXO.
When the AT-VP504E FXO’s configuration is unknown, the Default Settings switch must be depressed for about 5 seconds while the AT-VP504E FXO reboots so it reverts back to a known configuration.The Default Settings switch is located at the back of the AT-VP504E FXO.
4. WhiledepressingtheDefaultSettingsswitch,powertheAT-VP504E FXO on by connecting the power cord to an electrical outlet and then plugging the power cord to the AT-VP504E FXO.
5. From the computer connected to the first AT-VP504E FXO, enter the IP address 192.168.0.1 in your web browser.
You should now see the Overview web page.
6. Click the IP ConfigurationlinkoftheConfigurationsection in the left frame. You will be asked a user name and password. Type H323Admi as user
name and 8749H323 as password. You will gain access to the Configuration web page.
Note: The User Name and Password are case sensitive hence they must be entered as shown above.
7. If you don’t have a DHCP server, make sure that you enter the following parameters:
Local IP Address assigned to this AT-VP504E FXO, say
192.168.0.5
Subnet mask IP Address, which should be 255.255.255.0
Make sure that these fields are set as Static (the Staticcheckboxmust be checked).
8. Click the Update button. The AT-VP504E FXO will reboot with the new information that was just
entered (this will take about 10-20 seconds).
9. Repeat steps 2-8 for the second AT-VP504E FXO. Do not change its default IP address right now.

Step 2 - Install the new software into the AT-VP504E FXO
1. In order to install the software into the AT-VP504E FXO, you must have a
TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server running on the PC designated as the firmware file server.
If you don’thave a TFTP server,youcaninstall“Pumpkin”(oneofthebest and fastest TFTP servers available). Pumpkin is located on the documentation CD provided with your AT-VP504E FXO communication unit.
This application will let you download the new software into your AT-VP504E FXO.
2. Once you have the TFTP application downloaded, install it on the PC designated as the software file server and run it. From the main screen of Pumpkin, go into the Options menu and configure the path of where your .bin file (application file) is located.
3. Select GiveallfilesfromtheRead RequestBehaviorsectionthenclick OK. Leave the application running.
4. In the AT-VP504E FXO’s web page, click the Software Configuration link under the Configuration section.
You will be asked a user name and password. Type H323Admi as user name and 8749H323 as password. You will gain access to the Configuration web page.
Note: The User Name and Password are case sensitive hence they must be entered as shown above.
6. Click the Update button at the bottom of the browser window.
Note: The configuration information is updated, but the AT-VP504E FXO
does not reboot.
7. Click the Download button. Downloading the new software into the AT-VP504E FXO will take about
15-20seconds,afterwhichtheAT-VP504E FXO will reboot automatically. This will take again 15-20 seconds. You will then be able to access the AT-VP504E FXO’s web page in order to verify that the version of the software has changed.
5. In the Software Configuration section, fill in the missing information. Enter the IP address of the Software server.
This IP address is the address of the PC that is currently running Pumpkin or your own TFTP server.
Make sure that you check the Static checkbox. Enter also the name of the new version .bin file that will be used to download into the AT-VP504E FXO.
