Akai Z4/8 Information Manual

Z4/8 V1.45 OS UPDATE
Version 1.45 for the Z4/8 introduces a significant new feature:
ROLAND / EMU EIV COMPATIBILITY
The Z4/8 can now read Roland and Emu EIV CD-ROMs Loading operation is the same as ‘native’ Akai CD-ROMs - simply pop the CD-ROM in the drive
and in the LOAD mode, navigate the disk as usual. Conversion is as follows: Roland
E4
Preset file > Program (.akp) E3 sample > Wav sample
BUG FIXES
A few minor bugs have also been fixed If a sample name is longer than 19 characters, any samples that are alphabetically ‘higher’ in the
sample list will not be seen in PROGRAM mode. For example, with the following samples in memory:
ARP Odyssey G1 ARP Odyssey G2 ARP Odyssey G3 ARP Odyssey G4 ARP Odyssey G5 Big Stereo Kick drum BIG STRINGS C1 BIG STRINGS C2 BIG STRINGS C3 BIG STRINGS C4 BIG STRINGS C5
When scrolling through the list of samples in the PROGRAM mode (when assigning samples to keygroups, for example), the ‘BIG STRINGS’ samples would not be seen.
This is now fixed.
---------Fixed a bug where incoming MIDI control changes were passed through the MIDI OUT
connection which could cause nasty MIDI loops when used with sequencers.
