Operating instructions
Control knobs on the gas hob
The knobs for using the gas hob of the cooker are found on the control panel. The regulation knobs could be turned in anti clockwise direction until the small flame symbol, and vice-versa for the larger symbol.

One or two, depending on the model. All accessories can be stored in the drawer which is located underneath the oven cavity.
Warning! During cooking the storage drawer may become hot.
Ignition of hob burners
To ignite a burner, before positioning the saucepan:
1. press the electric ignition push button marked by a small spark
2. push the corresponding knob in completely and turn in an anticlockwise direction to the maximum position
3. keep the knob pushed for about 5 seconds. This will allow the thermocouple to be heated and the safety device to be switched off, otherwise the gas supply would be interrupted
4. upon ignition regulate the flame as required
If after a few attempts the burner does not ignite, check that the baffle and its cap are correctly positioned. To interrupt the supply of gas, turn the knob in a clockwise direction
to the position
Warning! During cooking, when using fats or oils, take particular care as they can, when overheated, self-ignite.

Warning! Do not keep the control knob
pressed for more than 15 seconds. If the burner does not light even after 15 seconds, release the control knob, turn it the off position and wait for at least 1 minute before trying to light the burner again.
Lighting the hob manually
When lighting the hob manually (in case of lack of electricity) hold a flame near the burner. Never turn the control knob before approaching the burner with the flame.
Control knob of the electric hotplate
To switch on a hotplate, turn the relevant control knob to the required heat setting.
The control knob is numbered 0- 3. 0 - OFF 1 - Minimum 3- Maximum The hob has a normal hotplates (back right). We recommend the plates are switched to maximum (position 3) for a short while to boost the plate, and then adjusted to the required setting.
Different kinds of burners The hob has 2 kinds of burners: electric
hotplate and gas burner (picture below).
1
2
3
4
1 Burner cap 2 Burner crown 3 Spark generator
4 Thermocouple
To ensure maximum burner efficiency, use only pots and pans with a flat bottom fitting the size of the burner used.
The hob lid
The lid is meant to avoid dust to settle on the hob, when it is closed, and to collect splashes of oil or fat, when it is open. Do not use it for any other purpose. Always wipe off any splash of liquid before opening the lid. Always clean the lid from cooking residue before opening it or taking it off.
Warning! The glass lid may shatter when heated. Turn off all the burners before shutting the lid.
Use only pans or pots with flat bottom.
Warning! If you use a saucepan which is smaller than the recommended size, the flame will spread beyond the bottom of the pan, causing the handle to overheat.
As soon as a liquid starts boiling, turn down the flame so that it will barely keep the liquid simmering.
Important! The stainless steel can become tarnished if excessively heated. Therefore prolonged cooking with postpones, earthenware pans or cast-iron plates is inadvisable. Also, do not use aluminium foil to protect the top during use.

Before first use
Warning! Before using the appliance, remove all packaging, both inside and outside the appliance, including the advertising labels and any protective film.
Before cooking for the first time, carefully wash the oven accessories.
Heating the empty oven
Before first use, the oven should be heated without food. During this time, an unpleasant odour may be emitted. This is quite normal.
1. Set the oven function control knob to maximum temperature, conventional cooking will be activated
2. Open a window for ventilation
3. Allow the oven to run empty for approximately 45 minutes
Oven light
It’s lighted once the oven function knob is turned on and lights during the oven functioning.
This procedure should be repeated with the grill function
nutes.
Once this operation is carried out, let the oven cool down, then clean the oven cavity with a soft cloth soaked in warm water to which a little mild washing-up liquid has been added.
Heating the hotplate
When using the hob for the first time, it is important to note that the plate may smoke a little and produce a slightly unpleasant odour when used for the first time. This is quite normal and will disappear after a few minutes.

Helpful hints and tips
Using the gas hob
Start your cooking with a big flame by turning the knob to the symbol
flame as necessary. The outside of the flame is much hotter than its inside (nucleus). Accordingly , the top of the flame should lick the bottom of the pan. Excessive flames mean a waste of gas. In contrast with electric grids, gas burners do not require flat-bottomed pans: the flames lick the bottom and spread the heat all over the surface.
No special pans are required for gas burners. However, thin walled pans transmit the heat to the food more quickly than thick-walled ones.
Since heat doesn't spread evenly on the pan's bottom, the food may only be partially heated. Consequently it is advisable to stir the food many times.
. Then adjust the
A thick pan bottom prevents partial overheating as it allows sufficient thermic compensation. Avoid very small pans. Wide and shallow pans are more suitable than narrow and deep ones as they allow a faster heating. Cooking is not quickened by placing narrow pans on wide burners. The result is just a waste of gas. For a proper usage, place small pans on small burners and large pans on large burners.
Remember to cover pans to reduce gas consumption.
Using the hotplate
Saucepans suitable for use on solid hotplate should have several characteristics:
• they should be heavy duty
• they should fit the heat area exactly, or be slightly larger for efficient use, NEVER smaller
Page 9
•they should have a flat base to ensure good contact with the plate
This is particularly important when using pans for high temperature frying or pressure cooking. Ensure pans are large enough to avoid liquids being split onto the plates. Never leave the plates on without a pan on them or with an empty pan on them.
For best results we advise you to initially regulate the switch to rapid to accelerate the heating of the plate and then turn the switch to the position most suitable for the food to be cooked.

Warning! When cooking with the oven or grilling, the cover must be kept open to avoid overheating.
Warning! Do not place objects and cookware directly on the oven base and do not cover any part of the oven with aluminium foil while cooking, as this could cause a heat buildup which would affect the baking results and damage the oven enamel. Always place pans, heatresisting pans and aluminium trays on the shelf.

Condensation and steam
The oven is supplied with an exclusive system which produces a natural circulation of air and the constant recycling of steam. This system makes it possible to cook in a steamy environment and keep the dishes soft inside and crusty outside. Moreover, the cooking time and energy consumption are reduced to a minimum. During cooking steam may be produced which can be released when opening the oven door. This is absolutely normal.
Warning! Always stand back from the oven when opening the oven door during cooking or at the end of it to allow any build up of steam or heat to release.
When food is heated, it produces steam in the same way as a boiling kettle does. When steam comes in contact of the oven door glass, it will condense and produce water droplets.
To reduce condensation, ensure the oven is well heated before placing food in the oven cavity. A short oven pre-heating (about 10 minutes) will then be necessary before any cooking. We recommend you to wipe away condensation after each use of the appliance.
Pots and pans
Remember that a large recipient offers a larger surface to heat and therefore cooks food quicker than a narrow recipient. Always use recipients of a size suitable for the food to be cooked. In particular, take care that recipients are not too small for liquid preparations which could easily spill over or that they are not too big for food which must be cooked quickly; uncovered areas on the bottom are easily burnt by fats and juice. For cakes, it is preferable to use tins which do not open. A tin which opens lets out fruit juices and sugar which, when spilling onto the bottom of the oven, caramelize and are difficult to clean. Avoid placing pans with plastic handles in the oven as they may not support the heat.
Remember that a wide-bottomed pan allows a faster cooking than a narrow one.
For hotplate always use pots which properly fit what you have to cook.
Cookware
• Use any oven proof cookware which will
°
withstand temperatures of 230
C.
• Baking trays, oven dishes, etc. should not be placed directly against the grid covering the fan at the back of the oven, or placed on the oven base.
• Do not use baking trays larger than 30 cm
- 35 cm (12 in - 14 in) as they will restrict the circulation of heat and may affect performance.
The effects of dishes on cooking results
Dishes and tins vary in their thickness, conductivity, colour, etc. which affects the way they transmit heat to the food inside them. A : Aluminium, earthenware, oven glassware and bright shiny utensils reduce cooking and base browning. B : Enamelled cast iron, anodized aluminium, aluminium with nonstick interior and coloured exterior and dark, heavy utensils increase cooking and base browning.
Cooking fish and meat
You can place meat in oven proof dishes, or directly on the oven shelf. In this case, remember to place the drip tray in the first position from the bottom with some water in it. The dripping pan will avoid the falling of melted fat on the oven base. White meat, poultry and fish in general, need to be cooked at a medium temperature (be-
tween 150
°
C and 175° C). If you need to cook red meat (slightly browned on the outside and more gently cooked in the inside), a
Page 11

higher temperature (between 200° C and
°
C) for a short time is recommended.
230
Baking
Cakes usually need to be cooked at a medi-
°
um temperature (between 150
C and 200 C). A short oven pre-heating (about 10 minutes) is recommended when cooking cakes or baking. Once the cooking has been started, keep the oven door closed during all the cooking time, and check the cooking results through the oven door glass.
Grilling
If you need to grill meat or fish, place them directly on the shelf after spreading a little oil on them. In the grill function, heat comes only from the top element. Therefore, you need to adjust the cooking level depending on meat or fish's thickness. Always remember to place the dripping pan
ume. We suggest that you take particular note of your first cooking experiments with the oven, since operating in the same conditions for the same dishes you will of course obtain similar results.

Care and cleaning
Warning! Before any maintenance or cleaning can be carried out, you must DISCONNECT the appliance from the electricity supply. This appliance cannot be cleaned with steam or with a steam cleaning machine.
Cleaning the hob - the hob top
The hob is best cleaned whilst it is still warm, as spillage can be removed more easily than if it is left to cool. Regularly wipe over the hob top using a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water to which a little washing up liquid has been added. Avoid the use of the following:
• household detergent and bleaches;
• impregnated pads unsuitable for non stick
saucepans;
• steel wool pads;
• bath/sink stain removers. Should the hob top become heavily soiled, it is recommended that a cleaning product such as Hob Brite or Bar Keepers Friend is used.
Pan supports
The pan supports are dishwasher proof. If washing them by hand, take care when drying them as the enamelling process occasionally leaves rough edges. If necessary, remove stubborn stains using a paste cleaner.
The burners
The burner caps and crowns can be removed for cleaning. Wash the burner caps and crowns using hot soapy water, and remove marks with a mild paste cleaner. A well moistened soap impregnated steel wool pad can be used with caution, if the marks are particularly difficult to remove. After cleaning, be sure to wipe dry with a soft cloth.
Ignition electrode
The electric ignition is obtained through a ceramic "electrode" with a metal electrode in-
side. Keep these components well clean, to avoid difficult lighting, and check that the burner crown holes are not obstructed.
The hotplate
Before cleaning the plates, allow them to cool.
Do not acquire the bad habit of wiping over the plates with a damp cloth whilst they are still hot. Although they will stand up to such treatment, fragments of the cloth could remain. The plates and their bases can, however, be cleaned occasionally using fine sandpaper. We advise you to grease the surface of the plates from time to time with a non-acid fat (cooking oil, sewing machine oil or vaseline). Products for care and maintenance are available commercially.
Warning! Never use metal brushes, knives or similar objects. Avoid using acid detergents.
Cleaning the oven
Warning! The oven should be kept
clean at all times. A build up of fats or other foodstuffs could result in a fire, especially in the grill pan.
Clean carefully the oven cavity after use when it is still warm. In fact, at this moment it is easy to take off deposits of fat or other substances such as fruit juice, sugar particles or fat. You can use warm detergent water or one of the appropriate spray oven cleaners.
Warning! Do not direct the spray at the mat steel parts as this could damage them and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Clean the oven accessories with warm water and detergent. Remove possible incrustations with a slightly abrasive powder.
Page 15
Warning! Never line any part of the oven with aluminium foil. It would result in an accumulation of heat which might damage the cooking results and also damage the enamel.
Cleaning materials
Before using any cleaning materials on your oven, check that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach should NOT be used as they may dull the surface finishes. Harsh abrasive should also be avoided.
Warning! Never use steam or steam machines to clean the appliance.
External cleaning
Warning! Regularly wipe over the
control panel, oven door and door seal using a soft cloth well wrung out in warm water to which a little washing up liquid has been added. To prevent damaging or weakening the door glass panels avoid the use of the following:
• Household detergent and bleaches
• Impregnated pads unsuitable for non stick
saucepans
• Pads or steel wool pads
• Chemical oven pads or aerosols
• Rust removers
• Bath/Sink stain removers Clean the outer and inner door glass using warm soapy water. Should the inner door glass become heavily soiled it is recommended that a cleaning product such as Hob Brite, or Bar Keepers Friend is used.

Installation
Warning! This appliance cannot be positioned on a base.
The following instructions are meant for a qualified installer, in order that the operations of installation, regulation, and service are executed according to the existing regulations. Whenever changes are made involving the disconnection of the appliance it is necessary to proceed with maximum caution.
Warning! Prior to installation, ensure that the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and the gas pressure) and the adjustment of the appliance are compatible.
Warning! The manufacturing company declines any responsibility for possible damages resulting from an installation which does not comply with the rules in force.
Page 19
electrolux 19
Positioning
This appliance has been designed to be placed close to furniture units not exceeding the height of the working level. The distance between the hob and the side wall/furniture (if present) directly above should be minimum 650 mm.
Levelling
The appliance is provided with adjustable small feet placed in the back and front corners on the base. By adjusting the small feet it is possible to change the height of the appliance so as to ensure a better levelling with other surfaces and a uniform distribution of the liquids contained in pans or pots.
Gas connection
Warning! The use of a gas cooking
appliance results in the production of heat and moisture in the room in which it is installed. Ensure that the kitchen is well ventilated. Keep natural ventilation holes open or install a mechanical ventilation device (mechanical extractor hood). Prolonged intensive use of the appliance may call for additional ventilation, for example opening of a window, or more effective ventilation, for example increas-
ing the level of mechanical ventilation, if present.
Gas connection must be carried out according to the rules in force. The manufacturing company release the unit, once tested, adjusted for the kind of gas stated on the rating plate located on the back of the range, next to connection pipe. Be sure that you are going to connect the unit to the same kind of gas written on the plate.
Installation environment
Warning! This appliance is not
connected to a combustion products evacuation device. It shall be installed and connected in accordance with current installation regulations. Particular attention shall be given to the relevant requirements regarding ventilation.
In order to make the gas unit work properly, it is necessary that air sufficient to gas combustion can naturally flow in the room. (The installer must follow the rules in force). The air flow into the room must come directly through openings of external walls. These openings (or opening) should be realized in such a way not to be occluded both from inside and outside. Installation and maintenance must be carried out by a qualified technician, in compliance with rules in force. The electric connection must be carried out in compliance rules in force.
Important! Our responsibility will not be involved in case of accidents caused by a defective or non existent earth connection.
Combustion products discharge
Gas cooking units must discharge combustion products through hoods directly connected to flues or outside.
Connection using a rigid pipe or a flexible metal pipe
To ensure higher safety, it is recommended to carry out the connection to the gas system using rigid pipes (ex. copper) or using flexible stainless steel pipes, to avoid any stress to the unit. Gas feeding pipe fitting is Gc 1/2. For this type of installation, connection to the
Page 20
20 electrolux
gas supply should be carried out using only and exclusively flexible metallic tubes in conformity with rules in force.
Connection using flexible non metal pipes
When the connection can be easily inspected in its full extent, there is the chance to use a flexible pipe according to the rules in force. The flexible pipe must be tightly fixed using clamps according to the rules in force. The flexible pipe should be made ready for use in such a way that:
• nowhere it can reach over temperature, other than room temperature, higher than
°
30
C; if the flexible pipe, to reach the cock, must run behind the range, it must be installed as shown below;
• it is no longer than 1500 mm;
• it shows no throttles;
• it is not subject to traction or torsion;
• it does not get in touch with cutting edges or corners;
• it can be easily inspected in order to check its condition.
The control of preservation of the flexible pipe consists in checking that:
• it doesn't show cracks, cuts, marks of burning both on the end parts and on its full extent;
• the material is not hardened, but shows its normal elasticity;
• the fastening clamps are not rusted;
• expiry term is not due. If one or more abnormalities are seen, do not repair the pipe, but replace it.
• it cannot come into contact with moveable parts of the appliance;
• it does not pass through any space susceptible of becoming congested;
Important! Once installation is complete, check the perfect seal of every pipe fitting, using a soapy solution, never a flame.
Adaptation to different kinds of gas
To adapt the appliance to a different kind of gas from the one the appliance has been set for, follow the instructions below in their order. Gas connection :
LPG : use the rubber pipe holder, no.4. Natural gas : use the pipe holder, no.5.
Always insert the gasket sealing, no.2. Then proceed with the gas connection, as indicated in the relevant paragraphs.

electrolux 21
5. Replace the rating label (placed near the gas supply pipe) with the relevant one for the new type of gas supply. You can find this label in the package of the injectors supplied with the appliance.
These burners do not need any primary air regulation.
Adjustment of minimum level
To adjust the minimum level of the burners, proceed as follows:
1. light the burner;
2. turn the knob on the position of minimum flame;
3. remove the knob;
4. with a thin screwdriver, adjust the bypass screw;
If changing from natural gas 20 mbar/13 mbar to liquid gas, completely tighten the adjustment screw in, until a small regular flame is obtained.
If changing from liquid gas to natural gas 20 mbar, undo the by-pass screw about 1/4 of a turn, until a small regular flame is obtained.
If changing from natural gas 20 mbar to natural gas 13 mbar undo the by-pass screw about 1/4 of a turn, until a small regular flame is obtained.
If changing from liquid gas to natural gas 13 mbar, undo the by-pass screw about 1/2 of a turn, until a small regular flame is obtained.
Reassemble the parts following the same procedure backwards. Finally, check the flame does not go out when quickly turning the knob from the maximum position to the minimum position.
Electrical connection
The unit is preset to work with a voltage of single phase 230 V.
Page 22
22 electrolux
Before making the connection make sure that:
• the energy power available in the user's house is sufficient for the normal supply of this appliance (see rating plate)
• the unit is correctly connected to earth through a suitable plug and according to the installation country Laws
• the socket or the omnipolar switch used for the connection must be easilv reached with the installed appliance
The appliance is supplied with electric cable, therefore you will have to fit it with a standard plug, suitable for the total electric load shown on the rating plate. The plug is to be inserted into a suitable wall socket. If you wish to directly connect to the mains, you have to interpose an omnipolar switch with a minimum opening between contacts of 3 mm, between the unit and the mains, complying with the existing regulations. The brown live wire (originating from the clamp of the appliance junction box) must always be connected to the phase of the mains supply. In any case, the supply cord must be positioned in such a way as it does not reach
in any point a temperature higher by 50
°
C
than the room temperature.
Replacement of the electric cable
Warning! The replacement of electric
cable must be carried out exclusively by the service force centre or by personnel with similar competencies, in accordance with the current regulations.
Should the supply cord need to be replaced, use only the following cable types: H07 RNF, H05 RN-F, H05 RRF, H05 VV-F, H05 V2V2-F (T90), H05 BB-F. It is necessary that the yellow/ green earth wire is about 2 cm longer than the live and neutral ones (see diagram). The section of the cable should be 3 x 1,5
