Installing and activating ABBY Y Lingvo for Mac

To install the application, run the ABBYY Lingvo.dmg fi le from the setup disk.

To activate your copy of ABBYY Lingvo for Mac, enter your serial number into the window
that appears when you run the application for the very fi rst time. This product requires
activation over the Internet. For more information, please contact the ABBY Y technical
support service: ww w.abbyy.com/support, [e-mail].

Looking up a word in the text

Full dictionary entry

To open the full entr y for a word or phrase, select

the word or phrase and press

Brief dictionary entry

To see a brief dictionary entr y for a word, point to
the word with mouse. The brief entry will appear in
a pop-up window.

Customizing mouse lookup

To customize mouse lookup:



Select Preferences



Click the Lookup tab



Select the desired settings:

Note: For mouse lookup to work correctly, you must enable access for assistive devices.

Important! To be able to use the keyboard shor tcuts or mouse to look up

words, you must install the application in the Applications folder.

Type the word in the search fi eld



Press Enter/Return

Tip: To look up a word you see in the list of words in the main window, double-click that word.

Important! You can use the keyboard shor tcuts or mouse to look up words only

in Cocoa-API-based applications (e.g. Safari, Pages).
The full list of Cocoa-API-based applications on which this feature has been
tested is available in the technical support section on www.abbyy.com.
