The concept behind the design of the élite éXcursion1000 was
P O W E R E D L O U D S P E A K E R S Y S T E M
simple, –create a powerful, yet highly mobile active stereo PA
and club system. Striking the right balance between portability
and presence, Yorkville’s designers selected a 15-inch bass driver
capable of handling a booming 650 watts and paired it with two 8inch/1-inch satellite loudspeakers delivering a crisp 150 watts a side; total output of over 950 watts. That’s enough
for the experienced club veteran, all in a single package (and it’s compact enough for one-night stands).
The heart of the élite éXcursion1000 is the active subwoofer unit. Housing the 15-inch driver, input section,
electronic crossover networks and the five integrated power amplifier modules that drive the entire éXcursion1000
system, this core unit is powered by a single AC line cord. To ensure trouble-free transport, the system comes
complete with a swivel caster dolly and Velcro™ tie downs to allow for its nested satellite cabinets. With its
quick and convenient setup, teardown, and a minimum of cabling and connectivity to get in the way onstage, the
éXcursion1000 is an ideal solution wherever portability is an issue. And unlike competing PA system solutions,
the caster kit for the éXcursion1000 is fully detachable, eliminating caster buzz and rattle during performance.
The full-range satellite speakers are driven by the subwoofer through two 8M Speakon™ fourline-cables
(included). This four-wire design allows the internal electronic crossover network to deliver an acoustically perfect
transition between subwoofer and satellite. Experienced design of the active bi-amp circuitry delivers 125 watts to
each of the 8-inch drivers and 25 watts to the 1-inch horns with precision, allowing unsurpassed efficiency and
clarity. Opto-limiter circuitry in the crossover network provides an unobtrusive and musical-sounding compression
that not only protects the speaker components, but provides balanced program reproduction from the satellite
cabinets. The entire system may be connected to any mono or stereo mixer source through either XLR or 1/4-inch
TRS balanced inputs. And true to Yorkville’s long-standing commitment to quality, the éXcursion1000 cabinets are
a rugged plywood construction – we never use fiberboard or composites.
A complete, self contained powered system with passive and active crossover networks, equalization, and
separate stereo and subwoofer level controls included, the élite éXcursion1000 is the ultimate in compact live/DJ
systems. This is a PA that is truly “Plug and Play.”
Features
• The ideal PA system for audiences of up to 300 people.
• Truly ‘Plug and Play,’ all amplification and level controls are built in.
• Voiced for prerecorded applications as well as live sound reinforcement.
• XLR and 1/4-inch TRS balanced inputs connect easily to any mixer source.
• Active crossover networks with integrated power amplification create a seamless balance between subwoofer
and full-range, bi-amped stereo satellites.
• System nests together for easy transportation and storage.
• An ultra quiet, highly efficient, high output, low distortion, lightweight PA solution.
• Includes integrated bar handles and stand mount adaptors.
• Rugged plywood cabinet construction.
• Removable caster kit.
• Available in your choice of black carpet (EX1) and black Ultrathane (EX1B) painted finishes

i. Left & Right Input Jacks
The input jacks of the éXcursion1000
are designed for operation with
line-level signals. For convenience,
parallel XLR and balanced ¼-inch
TRS jacks are provided on each side.
Note: The required input level
for full power operation, when
the Level controls are set to
the center detent position, is
approximately +4 dBv (1.2 volts).
Increasing this setting allows the
éXcursion1000 to be driven with
sources that have a low signal
level. Connecting a signal to both
inputs on any one channel (XLR
and ¼-inch) is not recommended.
ii. Mono/Stereo Switch
In stereo mode, the éXcursion1000
routes the two signals from the left and right inputs
to the corresponding satellite enclosures. If a mono
signal is sent to either the left or right channel of the
éXcursion1000, enabling the mono mode will route
the signal to both satellites. If a stereo signal is used,
both the left and right channels will be summed when
the mono mode is selected.
2. Level Controls
i. Left & Right Level Controls
The Left and Right Level controls adjust the output
level of the corresponding satellite enclosures.
Adjustments can be made to alter the balance of the
satellites, compensate for signal sources that are not
the standard +4 dBv line level or to tweak the SPL
levels appropriate to the application. The Left and
Right Level are normally set to the center detent.
ii. Subwoofer Level Control
The Subwoofer Level control allows fine-tuning of
the low frequency output. Adjustments can be made
to compensate for signal sources that are not the
standard +4 dBv level.
3. Clip Indicators
Clip Indicator LEDs
The Clip Indicator LED shows when
there is excessive input level on
either the Left or Right Inputs.
4. Protection
The éXcursion1000 uses a
sophisticated, multi-stage limiting
system that prevents clipping of the
amplifiers while accommodating
a wide range of input levels. The
limiter circuitry protects the entire
system against most situations
involving damaging signal levels.
i. Limit Indicator LED
The Limit Indicator LED indicates
when the maximum operating level
for the satellites has been reached.
When the LED is illuminated, the circuitry is actively
limiting the output. Increasing the input signal level
or turning up the Level controls will not increase the
operating level beyond the limit indicated. When the
unit is driven into limiting, the internal Limiter circuit
becomes triggered and will reduce the gain. This will
not significantly degrade the sound quality.
Note: Operating a few dB into limiting will ensure
that the system is operating at its maximum output.
Operating excessively into limiting will make the
system more susceptible to feedback.
ii. Sub Limit Indicator LED
The Sub Limit Indicator LED illuminates when the
maximum recommended operating-level of the
subwoofer has been reached. Increasing the input
signal level or turning up the Level controls will not
increase the operating level beyond the limit indicated.
When the internal Limiter circuit becomes active the
sound quality will not significantly be degraded.

The Yorkville éXcursion1000 system is shipped in two cartons. The main carton contains the
éXcursion1000 main unit (subwoofer w/amplification) and the dolly. The hold-down strap is used
to secure the dolly and the subwoofer together for shipping. The second carton contains the 2
éXcursion1000 satellites, 4 metal casters, the power cord and these operating instructions.
Carton 1
• 1 éXcursion1000 main unit (subwoofer w/amplification)
• 1 transportation dolly
• 1 power cord
• Operating instructions
Carton 2
• 2 éXcursion1000 satellite speaker cabinets
• 4 swivel casters (YS#8592)
• 2 SP4-25SS/18 25’ 4X18 Gauge Speakon™ to Speakon™
Some Assembly Required
The bolts provided to attach the casters on the dolly have been conveniently screwed into the dolly.
This allows you to find the mounting holes and prevents the bolts from being lost in shipping.
When installing Swivel Casters follow the sequence shown in the assembly diagram above. Place
the split lock-washer (YS# 8489) between the bolt (YS# 8936) and the flat washer (YS# 8817).
Following this sequence will assure proper assembly.
