Turning on the Power
Push the (Power).
When the power is on, the green status indicator will light up.
When PDX-11 is left in the powered-on state without connecting to the
iPhone/iPod and external device's connector cable, it will turn off in 30
minutes.

Connect the iPhone/iPod to the iPod dock.
The battery of the connected iPhone/iPod will be
charged.
• The iPhone/iPod battery cannot be charged when PDX11 is being operated by batteries.
• Be sure to use a dock adaptor included your iPhone/
iPod or applicable commercially available dock
adaptor. If you do not use an adaptor or the adaptor is
not compatible, the connection may be loose or poor,
causing damage to the connector. For more information
• If the iPhone/iPod is forcibly connected while still in a protective case,
the connector may be damaged. Make sure to remove any protective
iPhone/iPod case before connecting.
• When the unit is used with the iPhone/iPod’s shake shuffl e function on,
the iPhone/iPod might shuffl e due to the vibration of speaker depending
on the music played back. If this happens, turn the shake shuffl e function
off. (Refer to the instruction manual of the iPhone/iPod to turn the
function off.)
• Always disconnect iPhone/iPod from PDX-11, before carrying it by its
handle.
• If the iPhone/iPod is connected while playing videos or music on the
iPhone/iPod, PDX-11 will turn on automatically and continue the play
(except when PDX-11 is in power-saving mode).
• You can always connect and disconnect the iPhone/iPod.
• The PDX-11’s volume level can be adjusted using the iPhone/iPod. The
volume level will also be displayed on the iPhone/ iPod.
• PDX-11 turns off automatically, when the iPhone/iPod and external
device's connector cable are disconnected.

Connecting an External Device
Connect to the AUX on the rear panel.
To connect an external device
to PDX-11, use a commercially
available 3.5 mm (1/8 in.)

When Operating PDX-11 Using Batteries
Use 6 commercially available AA batteries.
To remove the battery cover, push the tab
while lifting the cover upward.
Follow the + and – markings on PDX-11
when inserting the batteries.
Replace the battery cover.
During battery-powered operation, if PDX-11 is left in the powered-off state
without being operated for 30 minutes, power-saving mode will be activated and
remote control will not work.
Push the on the control panel of PDX-11 to cancel the power-saving mode.
Status Indicators (LED)
Indicate the status of PDX-11 and the connected iPhone/iPod.
Green status indicator:
PDX-11 is turned on and operating normally.
Red status indicator:
An error has occurred or the volume has reached its maximum or minimum level.
The status of external device (connected through AUX) is not indicated.

Refer to the table below if the unit does not operate properly. If the problem you are experiencing is not listed below, or if the instruction below does not help, turn off the unit,
disconnect the power cable, and contact the nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center.
Situation Remedies and Points to Confi rm
No sound
Even if the volume level is raised, the sound level does not increase.
Even if the volume level of the connected iPhone/iPod is changed, the
sound level does not change.
The iPhone/iPod cannot be controlled using the remote control.
PDX-11 cannot be controlled using the remote control.
When PDX-11 is used outdoors, the remote control’s operating range
becomes smaller.
The green status indicator is lit, and the red status indicator blinks for 2
seconds only.
The green status indicator is lit, and the red status indicator is blinking
quickly.
The green status indicator is lit, and the red status indicator is blinking
slowly.
PDX-11 does not operate at all.
Is the iPhone/iPod connected securely to the iPod dock? •

Is the iPhone/iPod connected securely to the iPod dock? •
Restart the iPhone/iPod. •
Update the iPhone/iPod fi rmware to the latest version. •
Have the PDX-11’s batteries been exhausted?
In some cases, resetting PDX-11 can solve the problem.
To reset PDX-11, push and hold the

1 Install this unit in a well ventilated, cool, dry, clean place - away from direct sunlight, heat
sources, vibration, dust, moisture, and/or cold. (Do not use/keep this unit in a car etc.)
2 Locate this unit away from other electrical appliances, motors, or transformers to avoid
humming sounds.
3 Do not expose this unit to sudden temperature changes from cold to hot, and do not locate this
unit in an environment with high humidity (i.e. a room with a humidifier) to prevent
condensation inside this unit, which may cause an electrical shock, fire, damage to this unit,
and/or personal injury.
4 Avoid installing this unit where foreign objects may fall onto this unit and/or this unit may be
exposed to liquid dripping or splashing. On the top of this unit, do NOT place:
− Other components, as they may cause damage and/or discoloration on the surface of this

before concluding that the unit is faulty.
14 Before moving this unit, disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
15 Be sure to use the AC adaptor supplied with this unit. Using an AC adaptor other than the one
provided may cause fire or damage to this unit.
16 Install this unit near the wall outlet and where the power cable can be reached easily.
17 For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and
unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet. This will prevent damage to the
product due to lightning and power-line surges.
18 The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
– Keep the batteries in a location out of reach of children. Batteries can be dangerous if a
child were to put in his or her mouth.
– If the batteries grow old, the effective operation range of the remote control decreases
considerably. If this happens, replace the batteries as soon as possible.
– Do not use old batteries together with new ones.
– Do not use different types of batteries (such as alkaline and manganese batteries) together.
Read the packaging carefully as these different types of batteries may have the same shape
and color.
– Exhausted batteries may leak. If the batteries have leaked, dispose of them immediately.
Avoid touching the leaked material or letting it come into contact with clothing, etc. Clean
the battery compartment thoroughly before installing new batteries.
– If you plan not to use the unit for a long period of time, remove the batteries from the unit.
Otherwise, the batteries will wear out, possibly resulting in a leakage of battery liquid that
may damage the unit.
– Do not throw away batteries with general house waste. Dispose of them correctly in
accordance with your local regulations.
