PRECAUTIONS

Read this before using the speaker.

• To assure the finest performance, please read this manual
carefully. Keep it in a safe place for future reference.

• Install the speaker in a cool, dry, clean place - away from
windows, heat sources, sources of excessive vibration, dust,
moisture and cold. Avoid sources of electrical noise
(transformers, motors). To prevent fire or electrical shock, do
not expose this unit to rain or water.

• To prevent the enclosure from warping or discoloring, do not
place the speaker where it will be exposed to direct sunlight or
excessive humidity.

• Do not place the following objects on the speaker:
Glass, china, small metallic etc.

If glass, etc., falls as a result of vibration and breaks, it may
cause personal injury.

A burning candle, etc.

If the candle falls as a result of vibrations, it may cause fire
and personal injury.

A vessel with water in it

If the vessel falls as a result of vibrations and water spills, it
may cause damage to the speaker, and/or you may get an
electric shock.

• Do not place the speaker where foreign material such as
dripping water. It might cause fire, damage to this unit, and/or
personal injury.

• Do not place the speaker where it is liable to be knocked over
or struck by falling objects. Stable placement will also ensure
better sound performance.

• Placing the speaker on the same shelf or rack as the turntable
can result in acoustical feedback.

• Never put a hand or a foreign object into the port located on the
rear of the speaker, as this might cause personal injury and/or
damage to the speaker.

• When moving the speaker, do not hold the port, as it might
cause personal injury and/or damage to the speaker.

• Any time you notice distortion, reduce the volume control on
your amplifier. Never allow your amplifier to be driven into
“clipping.” Otherwise the speaker may be damaged.

• When using an amplifier with a rated output power higher than
the nominal input power of the speaker, care should be taken
never to exceed the speaker’s maximum input.

• Do not attempt to clean the speaker with chemical solvents, as
this might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth.

• Do not attempt to modify or repair the speaker. Contact
qualified YAMAHA service personnel when any service is
needed. The cabinet should never be opened for any reasons.

• Secure placement and installation is the owner’s
responsibility. YAMAHA shall not be liable for any
accident caused by improper placement or installation of
speakers.

or accompanying documents means that used

PRECAUTIONS WHEN

POSITIONING THE

SPEAKERS

The speaker is constructed with the majority of the weight located
in its upper portion, and is thus susceptible to falling over if proper
care is not taken to insure its stability. If the speaker falls over, it
may damage the speaker or be the cause of injury (or even death)
to person and/or damage to personal property.

■Using as 2ch stereo speakers

Better stereo images will be obtained when the speakers are
slightly angled in towards the listeners.

■Using as front speakers in a multi channel
system

Position the speakers on both sides of the TV. The positioning of
speakers is important, since this dictates the overall sound quality
of the multi channel system. Set up the speakers on the basis of
your listening position by following the owner’s manual supplied
with your amplifier.

For safe and proper use of the speaker:

• Position the speaker in a location that is solid, level, smooth,
and low (with respect to the floor).

• Do not push or apply pressure to the side of the speaker when
moving, or lean objects against the side of the speaker.

• Do not sit on or set objects on top of the speaker.

Vibrations or jolts associated with earthquakes and other
phenomena or activities may cause the speaker to fall over. For
safety reasons, using commercially available products that
increase stability of the speaker is recommended (metal fittings or
chains, etc.).

• Placing this unit too close to a CRT TV set might impair
picture color or create a buzzing noise. Should this happen,
move the speaker away (more than 20 cm (7-7/8”)) from the
TV set.
When using a PDP or LCD TV, it would not happen.

• To avoid accidents resulting from tripping over loose
speaker cables, fix them to the floor.

CONNECTIONS TO YOUR

AMPLIFIER

Before making connections, make sure that the amplifier is
switched off.

■ How to connect

1 Loosen the knob.
2 Remove 10 mm (3/8”) of insulation from each end of the

cables, and twist the exposed conductors together neatly and
tightly, as shown below.

• Connect the screw-type input terminals at the rear of the
speakers to the speaker output terminals of the amplifier (or
receiver) with the speaker cable.

• Connect the (+) terminals on the amplifier (or receiver) to the
(+) terminal of each speaker, making sure to confirm the color­coded wire of the cable at each end. Use the other wire of the
cable to connect the (–) terminals of the components.

• Connect one speaker to the left (marked L) terminals of your
amplifier, and another speaker to the right (marked R)
terminals, making sure not to reverse the polarity (+, –). If one
speaker is connected with reversed polarity the sound will be
unnatural and lack bass.

3 Insert the bare wire.
4 Tighten the knob and secure the cables.

Test the firmness of the connection by pulling lightly on the
cables at the terminal.

Notes

• Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other as this
could damage the speaker or the amplifier, or both.

• Do not insert the insulation into the hole. Sound may not be
produced.

■ When using a banana plug

Note

Do not take off this cover unless using a banana plug.

3 Simply insert the banana plug into the terminal.

REMOVING THE FRONT

The front cover is fastened to the enclosure at four points and can
be removed if desired. To remove the cover, hold on to both sides
and slowly pull straight out from the speaker. To reattach, line up
the four holes on the inner surface of the cover with the four
corresponding points on the speaker and push gently.

Note

When removing the cover, be careful that you don’t touch the
drive units, and don’t exert excessive force with any tools.

Taking care of the speaker

When you wipe this unit, do not use chemical solvents (e.g.,
alcohol or thinners, etc.): this might damage the finish. Use
a clean, dry cloth. For difficult soils, dampen a soft cloth in
water, wring it out, and then wipe with the cloth.
(For polish-finished model) Bumping the surface of the
instrument with metal, porcelain, or other hard objects can
cause the finish to crack or peel. Use caution.

for parts or labour. Yamaha reserves the right to replace a product with that of a similar kind and/or value and condition, where a model has been

1. The original invoice or sales receipt (showing date of purchase, product code and dealer’s name) MUST accompany the defective product, along with a

statement detailing the fault. In the absence of this clear proof of purchase, Yamaha reserves the right to refuse to provide free of charge service and the
product may be returned at the customer’s expense.

2. The product MUST have been purchased from an AUTHORISED Yamaha dealer within the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

3. The product must not have been the subject of any modifications or alterations, unless authorised in writing by Yamaha.

4. The following are excluded from this guarantee:
a. Periodic maintenance and repair or replacement of parts due to normal wear and tear.

b. Damage resulting from:

(1) Repairs performed by the customer himself or by an unauthorised third party.
(2) Inadequate packaging or mishandling, when the product is in transit from the customer. Please note that it is the customer’s responsibility to

ensure the product is adequately packaged when returning the product for repair.

(3) Misuse, including but not limited to (a) failure to use the product for its normal purpose or in accordance with Yamaha’s instructions on the

proper use, maintenance and storage, and (b) installation or use of the product in a manner inconsistent with the technical or safety standards in
force in the country where it is used.

(4) Accidents, lightning, water, fire, improper ventilation, battery leakage or any cause beyond Yamaha’s control.
(5) Defects of the system into which this product is incorporated and/or incompatibility with third party products.
(6) Use of a product imported into the EEA and/or Switzerland, not by Yamaha, where that product does not conform to the technical or safety

standards of the country of use and/or to the standard specification of a product sold by Yamaha in the EEA and/or Switzerland.

(7) Non AV (Audio Visual) related products.

5. Where the guarantee differs between the country of purchase and the country of use of the product, the guarantee of the country of use shall apply.

• Installez cette enceinte dans un endroit frais, sec et propre, à

Pour éviter un incendie ou une électrocution, n’exposez pas

• Pour éviter que le coffret se gondole ou se décolore, ne placez
pas l’enceinte dans un endroit exposé aux rayons directs du
soleil ou à une trop forte humidité.

• Ne placez pas les objets suivants sur l’enceinte :
Verres, porcelaine, petits objets métalliques, etc.

Si ces objets tombent sous l’effet des vibrations et se brisent,
vous risquez de vous blesser ou de blesser votre entourage.

Une bougie allumée, etc.

Si la bougie tombe sous l’effet des vibrations, cela risque de
provoquer un incendie et des blessures.

Un récipient contenant de l’eau.

Si le récipient tombe sous l’effet des vibrations et que l’eau se
répand, ceci risque d’endommager l’enceinte et/ou de
provoquer une électrocution.

• Évitez d’installer l’appareil dans un endroit où il pourrait être
exposé à des éclaboussures ou des gouttes d’eau. Vous risquez
de provoquer un incendie ou de vous blesser.

• Évitez d’installer l’appareil dans un endroit où des objets
peuvent tomber. Un endroit stable améliorera en outre la qualité
du son.

• Si l’enceinte est placée sur la même étagère ou sur le même
meuble que la platine, un effet de retour sonore risque de se
produire.

• Ne placez jamais votre main ou un corps étranger dans le port
situé à l’arrière de l’enceinte ; vous risquez de vous blesser et/
ou d’endommager l’enceinte.

• Lorsque vous déplacez l’enceinte, veillez à ne pas la saisir par
le port ; vous risquez de vous blesser et/ou d’endommager
l’enceinte.

• Si des distorsions se produisent, réduisez le niveau sonore en
baissant la commande de volume de l’amplificateur. Veillez à
éviter tout « écrêtage » de l’amplificateur. Vous risquez en effet
d’endommager l’enceinte.

• Si vous utilisez un amplificateur dont la puissance de sortie
nominale est supérieure à la puissance d’entrée nominale de
l’enceinte, veillez à ne pas dépasser l’entrée maximale de
l’enceinte.

• Ne nettoyez pas l’appareil au moyen d’un solvant chimique, car
vous risquez d’endommager la finition. Utilisez un chiffon
propre et sec.

• N’essayez pas de modifier ni de réparer l’enceinte. Contactez
un technicien YAMAHA qualifié dès que l’enceinte nécessite
une réparation. Le coffret ne doit être ouvert sous aucun
prétexte.

• Le propriétaire du système est entièrement responsable du
bon positionnement et de la bonne installation du système.
YAMAHA décline toute responsabilité en cas d’accident
provoqué par un positionnement ou une installation
inadéquats de l’enceinte.

■Utilisation comme enceintes stéréo à
2 canaux

Une meilleure image stéréo est obtenue si les enceintes sont
légèrement orientées vers l’auditeur.

L’ENCEINTE

L’enceinte a été conçue de manière à ce que la majeure partie de
son poids soit située dans la partie supérieure, ce qui la rend
potentiellement instable si elle est mal installée. Si l’enceinte
tombe, elle peut se briser. En outre, cela risque de provoquer des
blessures graves, voire la mort, et de provoquer des dommages à
des biens personnels.

Pour utiliser l’enceinte correctement et sans danger :

• Placez-la sur une surface plane, solide, nivelée et basse (par
rapport au niveau du sol).

• N’appuyez pas sur l’enceinte et et n’appliquez aucune force
excessive dessus lorsque vous la déplacez ; veillez en outre à ne
laisser aucun objet appuyé contre l’enceinte.

• Ne vous asseyez pas sur l’enceinte et ne posez aucun objet
dessus.

Les vibrations et les secousses dues aux tremblements de terre ou
autres phénomènes naturels peuvent faire tomber l’enceinte. Pour
des raisons de sécurité, il est recommandé d’utiliser des dispositifs
améliorant la stabilité (disponibles dans le commerce), comme des
attaches en métal, des chaînes, etc.

■Utilisation des enceintes avant dans un
système multi-canaux

Positionnez les enceintes de chaque côté du téléviseur. Le
positionnement des enceintes est important, car il détermine la
qualité sonore du système multi-canaux. Placez les enceintes par
rapport à votre position d’écoute habituelle en vous référant au
mode d’emploi fourni avec votre amplificateur.

• Pour éviter les interférences et la dégradation des couleurs
de l’image, n’installez pas les enceintes trop près du
téléviseur. Le cas échéant, éloignez-les du téléviseur d’au
moins 20 cm.
Si vous utilisez un téléviseur plasma ou LCD, cela ne se
produire pas.

• Pour éviter de trébucher sur les câbles des enceintes et de
vous blesser, fixez les câbles au sol.

Avant de réaliser les connexions, assurez-vous que
l’amplificateur est hors tension.

■ Mode de connexion

1 Desserrez le boulon.
2 Retirez 10 mm de la gaine isolante à l’extrémité de chaque

câble d’enceinte en tortillant la gaine pour la dégager.

• Connectez les bornes d’entrée à vis situées à l’arrière des
enceintes aux bornes de sortie d’enceinte de l’amplificateur (ou
du récepteur) à l’aide d’un câble d’enceinte.

• Connectez les bornes (+) de l’amplificateur (ou du récepteur) à
la borne (+) de chaque enceinte en vous assurant de respecter
les fils de couleur du câble. Utilisez l’autre fil du câble pour
connecter les bornes (–) des composants.

• Connectez une enceinte aux bornes gauche (L) de votre
amplificateur et l’autre enceinte aux bornes droites (R) en
respectant les polarités + et –. Si vous inversez les polarités
d’une enceinte, le son ne sera pas naturel et manquera de graves.

3 Insérez le câble dénudé.
4 Reserrez le boulon pour fixer solidement le câble.

Vérifiez que le câble est fermement inséré en tirant
légèrement dessus au niveau de la borne.

Remarques

• Ne laissez pas les câbles dénudés entrer en contact les uns
avec les autres. Cela risquerait d’endommager l’enceinte et/
ou l’amplificateur.

• N’insérez pas la gaine isolante dans l’orifice. Le cas échéant,
aucun son ne serait produit.

■ Lorsqu’une fiche banane est utilisée

Remarque

Ne retirez ce couvercle que lorsque vous utilisez une fiche
banane.

RETRAIT DU PANNEAU

CARACTÉRISTIQUES

Le panneau avant est fixé au coffret sur quatre points et peut être
retiré si nécessaire. Pour cela, tenez les deux côtés du panneau,
puis tirez dessus légèrement. Pour le remettre en place, alignez les
quatre trous sur la surface intérieure du panneau avec les quatre
points correspondants de l’enceinte, puis poussez délicatement.

Remarque

Lorsque vous retirez le panneau, n’appliquez aucune force
excessive avec les outils et veillez à ne pas toucher le partie
vibrante des enceintes.

Entretien de l’enceinte

Lors du nettoyage, n’utilisez pas de solvant chimique
(alcool, diluants, etc.), car vous risquez d’endommager la
finition. Utilisez un chiffon propre et sec. En cas de tache
persistante, humidifiez un chiffon avec de l’eau, essorez-le,
puis frottez légèrement la surface.
(Pour les modèles polis) Le fait de heurter la surface de
l’instrument avec des objets durs en métal, en porcelaine ou
autres peut provoquer une craquelure ou le pelage de la
finition. Veillez donc à procéder avec précaution.

2. Le produit DOIT avoir été acheté par un distributeur agréé Yamaha au sein de l’Espace Economique Européen ou en Suisse.

3. Le produit doit n’avoir fait l’objet d’aucune modification ou altération, sauf accord écrit de Yamaha.

4. Les cas suivants font obstacle à l’application de la garantie:
a. Entretien périodique et réparation ou remplacement de pièces ayant subi une usure ou défaillance normale.

b. Dommages résulótant de:

(1) Réparation effectuée par le consommateur lui-même ou par un tiers non autorisé.
(2) Emballage ou manutention inadéquats lors du transport du produit pour réparation. Veuillez noter qu’il est de la responsabilité de l’expéditeur de

s’assurer que le produit est correctement emballé.

(3) Utilisation non-conforme du produit, correspondant aux cas non limitatifs (a) d’utilisation non-conforme à l’objet normal du produit ou non-

conforme aux instructions d’utilisation, de maintenance ou d’installation publiées par Yamaha, (b) ou d’utilisation du produit incompatible avec

für ein Umkippen, wenn nicht die notwendige Sorgfalt bei der
Absicherung seiner Stabilität aufgewandt wird. Falls der
Lautsprecher umkippt, könnte dies zu einer Beschädigung des
Lautsprechers oder zu Personenschäden (sogar mit Todesfolge)

■Verwendung als 2-Kanal­Stereolautsprecher

Wenn die Lautsprecher in Richtung Hörposition leicht
angewinkelt aufgestellt werden, wird ein besseres Stereo­Klangbild erzielt.

■Verwendung als Frontlautsprecher
innerhalb eines Mehrkanal-Systems

Stellen Sie die Lautsprecher auf beiden Seiten des Fernsehgerätes
auf. Die Position der Lautsprecher ist hier von großer Wichtigkeit,
da dies einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Gesamt-Tonqualität
des Mehrkanal-Systems hat. Stellen Sie die Lautsprecher je nach
Hörposition anhand der im Lieferumfang des Verstärkers
enthaltenen Bedienungsanleitung auf.

Zur sicheren und ordnungsgemäßen Verwendung des
Lautsprechers:

• Stellen Sie den Lautsprecher an einem Ort auf, der solide, eben,
glatt und niedrig (in Bezug auf den Boden) ist.

• Achten Sie bitte darauf, dass Sie die Seite des Lautsprechers
nicht anschieben oder Druck darauf ausüben, wenn Sie den
Lautsprecher bewegen und lehnen Sie keine Gegenstände an
seiner Seite an.

• Setzen Sie sich nicht auf den Lautsprecher und platzieren Sie
keinerlei Gegenstände darauf.

Vibrationen oder Stöße, die mit Erdbeben in Zusammenhang
stehen, und andere Erscheinungen oder Aktivitäten könnten dazu
führen, dass der Lautsprecher umfällt. Aus Sicherheitsgründen
wird deshalb empfohlen, im Handel erhältliche Produkte zu

Rückseite der Lautsprecher über das Lautsprecherkabel mit den
Lautsprecher-Ausgängen des Verstärkers (oder Receivers).

• Schließen Sie die (+)-Anschlüsse am Verstärker (oder
Receiver) an die (+)-Anschlüsse des jeweiligen Lautsprechers
an und stellen Sie sicher, dass die Farbcodierung am Kabelende
berücksichtigt wird. Verbinden Sie die (–)-Anschlüsse der
Komponenten über die andere Ader des Kabels.

• Schließen Sie einen Lautsprecher an die linken Anschlüsse des
Verstärker an (durch L markiert) und dann den anderen
Lautsprecher an die rechten Anschlüsse (durch R markiert),
wobei unbedingt darauf geachtet werden muss, dass die
Polarität nicht vertauscht wird (+, –). Falls ein Lautsprecher mit
umgekehrter Polarität angeschlossen wird, wirkt die
Tonwiedergabe unnatürlich und kraftlos.

VORDEREN ABDECKUNG

Die vordere Abdeckung ist an vier Punkten mit dem Gehäuse
verbunden und kann bei Wunsch abgenommen werden. Um die
Abdeckung abzunehmen, halten Sie sie an beiden Seiten fest und
ziehen sie in gerader Linie aus dem Lautsprecher heraus. Um die
Abdeckung wieder anzubringen, richten Sie die vier Löcher an der
inneren Oberfläche der Abdeckung an den entsprechenden vier
Punkten des Lautsprechers aus und drücken behutsam.

Hinweis

Achten Sie beim Abnehmen der Abdeckung darauf, dass Sie
nicht die Treibereinheiten berühren und mit keinem

Se obtendrán mejores imágenes estéreo si los altavoces se giran un
poco hacia el oyente.

■Utilización como altavoces delanteros en
un sistema multicanal

Sitúe los altavoces a ambos lados del televisor. La situación de los
altavoces es importante, porque controla toda la calidad del sonido
en un sistema de canales múltiples. Sitúe los altavoces basándose
en su posición de audición y siempre según se indica en el manual
de instrucciones suministrado con su amplificador.

• Coloque el altavoz en una ubicación que sea sólida, nivelada,
lisa y baja (con respecto al suelo).

• No empuje ni aplique presión a los lados de los altavoces

注意

• 将本装置靠近电视机放置可能会影响图像色彩或产生嗡嗡

声。如果发生这种情况，请将扬声器与电视机保持距离放
置 （大于 20 cm）。
当使用 PDP 或 LCD 电视机时，不会发生此现象。

• 为了避免绊到松散的扬声器电缆而发生意外，请将电缆固

定在地板上。

• 用扬声器电缆将扬声器背面的螺钉型输入端子连接到放大

器 （或接收机）的扬声器输出端子。

• 将放大器 （或接收机）的 （+）极端子连接到每个扬声器

的 （+）极端子，务必确认每根电缆末端的色标线。使用
电缆的另一根线连接装置的 （-）极端子。

• 将一个扬声器连接到放大器的左 （标有 L）端子，将另一

个扬声器连接到右 （标有 R）端子，切勿颠倒极性 （+，

-）。如果极性颠倒连接了扬声器，则声音将不自然并缺
少低音。

■ 如何连接

1 松开旋钮。
2 如下所示，剥去每根电缆末端 10 mm 绝缘层，然后将露出

的导线整齐并紧紧地拧在一起。

3 插入裸线。
4 拧紧旋钮并紧固电缆。

轻拉端子上的电缆，检查连接是否牢固。

注意

• 请勿使裸露的扬声器电线互相接触，否则可能损坏扬声器

或放大器，或同时损坏两者。

• 请勿将绝缘部分插入孔中。否则可能没有声音。

■ 使用香蕉插头时

注意

除非使用香蕉插头，否则请勿拔出此盖子。

拆下前面板

前面板固定在音箱的四个点上，如果需要可以将其拆下。若
要拆下面板，请握住两侧并慢慢从扬声器上将其拉出。若要
装回面板，将面板内表面上的四个孔对准扬声器上相应的四
个点，然后轻轻推入。

注意

当取下盖子时，小心不要触摸驱动单元，且不要用工具施
力。

1 朝身体方向拉盖子将其拔出。
2 拧紧端子旋钮。
3 只需将香蕉插头插入端子。
