Introduction
Conformity of use:
The Mini Timer must be used inside only. Avoid humidity or extreme temperatures. Disconnect the unit during thunderstorms from mains and other connected equipment to avoid damage. Caution: To reduce risk of electric shock, do not disassemble any part of the Mini Timer. No user-serviceable parts are inside. If you spill liquid on it, disconnect the unit from the mains outlet to prevent possible fire or shock hazard and consult authorized service personnel. Use only the supplied power supply.
BMB HOME 6 rev. 01-10-05
Defective parts must be replaced by original spare parts only and repairs must be done by authorized service personnel. No guarantee or liability will be accepted for any damage caused due to incorrect use of the equipment supplied, other than indicated in this owner’s manual.
What it does:
The Mini Timer plugs into any AC outlet in your home and works like a digital alarm clock. Its internal buzzer lets you cancel the alarm by pressing any key. The alarm buzzer sounds again 10 minutes later. You can program your lamp and appliance modules to turn lights and appliances on and off at preset times. The security mode on your Mini Timer lets you automatically vary your programmed time each day.
How it works:
The Mini Timer transmits signals over your house wiring to your X10 Home Automation modules. There are Lamp-/Dimmer- and Appliance Modules available (ask your dealer for more info).
Setting up the Mini Timer
Connect the power supply to the Mini Timer and plug the lead of the power supply into an AC outlet.
Installing the batteries:
Insert two AA batteries (not supplied) in the battery compartment to maintain your settings in the event of a power failure. If the battery is low, dead, or has not been installed, the low battery indicator will appear in the display. The backlight and the buzzer do not operate when the unit is running on the backup batteries.
Battery Cautions: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them. Do not mix batteries of different types, capacities and chemistry. Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. If you do not plan to use your mini timer for several weeks, remove the batteries.

Using the Mini Timer
Controlling X10 Home Automation Modules:
Follow the steps below to make sure you can control your modules before you program your Mini Timer.
Install and set up all of your X10 Home Automation Modules using the instructions provided with these.
Set all of your modules to the same House Code as the Mini Timer (default is A).
Set each module to a Unit Code between 1 and 8.
Set the MODE switch on the Mini Timer to the RUN position.
To turn on a module, set the SELECTOR switch to 1-4 or 5-8
and press the ON button that corresponds to the module you want to control. To turn off a module press the OFF button that corresponds to the module you want to control.
Press an ON button for a connected Lamp-/Dimmer- Module, then adjust brightness using the DIM/BRIGHT + and – key.
To turn on all lights connected to Lamp-/Dimmer- Modules (with the same House Code as the Mini Timer), press the ALL LIGHTS ON button. Appliance Modules will not respond.
To turn off all lights and appliances connected to any kind of X10 Home Automation Module (with the same House Code as the Mini Timer), including Appliance Modules, press ALL OFF (All Units Off).
Controlling X10 Modules Instantly
Set the MODE switch to the RUN position, and then slide the module SELECTOR switch back and forth to instantly control modules set to 1-4, or 5-8. Alternatively, use the + and – key to brighten or dim a selected Lamp-/Dimmer- Module.
Changing the House Code
When you first plug in the Mini Timer, it controls X10 Home Automation Modules set to House Code A. If you want to change the House Code, do the following:
Set the MODE switch to House Code Set.
Press the + or - TIME key to select the desired House Code.
Set the MODE switch back to RUN.

Setting the alarm
With the WAKE switch in the ON position, setting a programmed event for module 1 also sets the internal alarm buzzer.
A bell icon will show in the display to indicate that a time is set for the buzzer.
You can turn the buzzer off by sliding the WAKE switch to the OFF position. You can turn off your bedside lamp by pressing the OFF button for module with Unit Code 1.
If you don’t want to use the wake up feature, leave the WAKE switch in the OFF position. This will not affect any programs you have entered for module 1.
If the WAKE switch is OFF and you place the MODE switch in the CLOCK SET position, you will suspend both the buzzer and any times you have set for module 1.
Cancel/Snooze the alarm
When the alarm sounds at the time you have set, you can cancel it in one of two ways:
To cancel the alarm, slide the WAKE switch to the OFF position. Slide the switch back to on if you want to resume the alarm time.
To snooze the alarm, press any key. The buzzer remains off for 10 minutes. Modules that are set to Unit Code 1 will turn on when the buzzer sounds. These modules will remain on after you set the WAKE switch to OFF or if you cancel the buzzer by using the snooze feature. Press the OFF button for number 1 to turn the module(s) off. Or, remember, you can program the module(s) to turn off later.
Suspend the alarm
To suspend the program for module 1, turn the WAKE switch to OFF, and set the MODE switch to the CLOCK SET position. The programmed time for both the alarm buzzer and the bedside lamp will be suspended.
BMB HOME 10 rev. 01-10-05
You still can control modules instantly with the MODE switch in the CLOCK SET position. Remember to set the MODE switch back to the RUN position and WAKE switch back to ON to resume the alarm setting.
Programming a timed event
Set the MODE switch to the PROG. SET/REVIEW position.
Set the Module SELECTOR switch to 1-4 or 5-8.
Advance the TIME + key to the desired time. Hold it down to
reach the desired time faster. If you go too far, press - to go back.
Press ON or OFF for the Unit Code for which you want to program a time.
Set the MODE switch back to RUN.
For example: If you set your programmed time to 14:45, and then press the ON button for module 2, you will program the module set
to Unit Code 2 to turn on at 14:45 everyday. If you set your programmed time to 7:00, and then press the OFF button for module 2, you will program the module set to Unit Code 2 to turn off at 7:00
everyday. You can program a total of 64 On or Off times. These are
distributed between the eight Unit Codes (selected with the four ON/OFF buttons). If you try to set a programmed time, and the
memory is full, the display will read FULL. To remove this, press the CLEAR button.
If FULL is displayed when you try to enter a programmed time, you have already used up all the available memory. Cancel one or more of your set times by pressing a number ON or OFF button, and press CLEAR to clear that event. Program another time for the selected module.
Setting a timed event to occur once
To program your timed event to occur only once, repeatedly press the MODE button until ONCE shows in the display.
BMB HOME 11 rev. 01-10-05
Setting a timed event to occur randomly
To use the Security mode, repeatedly press the MODE button until Security shows in the display. This will modify the program so your
lights (or appliances) will go on or off at a different time everyday within the programmed hour. If you do not select a specific mode, the event happens at the same time everyday.
Note
Reviewing and changing programmed events
To review a programmed event, set the MODE switch to the PROG.SET/REVIEW position to see the first programmed event. If
no events exist in memory, 0:00 displays. While in the PROG.SET/REVIEW position, if you press one of the
Module’s ON or OFF buttons without modifying the current time, and no events are in memory for that module, 0:00 is displayed.
If events do exist, pressing the ON or OFF buttons lets you review all programmed events for that particular module. The display also
shows Once or Security to indicate how often the event will occur. If it’s a Security event, the actual time the next event will occur
displays. If neither Once nor Security displays, the programmed event will occur daily.
While reviewing any event it can be modified to be Daily, Once or Security event by repeatedly pressing the MODE button.
If you press one of the Module’s ON or OFF buttons after modifying the current time, the time is stored as a new event for that module.
While displaying the programmed time for any module, you can delete it using the CLEAR key. You can clear all events for a
module by pressing CLEAR multiple times until display shows 0:00. If an event time is modified and you do not want to store it, press
CLEAR. The previous event displays and can be deleted, if desired, by pressing CLEAR again. If the MODE switch is moved after a time has been changed and you do not press ON or OFF for the desired module, this time is discarded and is not stored in memory.
