The warranty period for the hand test pump is 24 months according to the general terms of supply of
ZVEI.
The guarantee is void if the appliance is put to improper use or if the operating instructions are not
observed or if an attempt is made to open the appliance or to release attachment parts.

1.2 Safety instructions .
Read these operating instructions carefully prior to operating the hand test
pump CPP 7.
Ensure that all pressure connections have been established correctly.
2. Product description .
The CPP 7 hand test pump is used to generate pressure for checking, adjusting and calibrating
mechanical and electronic pressure measuring instruments by comparative measurements in the lowpressure range. These pressure tests may be carried out in laboratories, workshops or on site at the
measuring point.
If the instrument to be tested and a sufficiently accurate reference measuring instrument are
connected up to the test pump, the same pressure is applied to the two measuring instruments when
the pump is operated. By comparing the two measure valves at random pressure values, the accuracy
can be verified or the instrument under test can be adjusted.
The CPP 7 is a pneumatic hand test pump for low-pressure ranges up to 7 bar with change-over
switch to vacuum generation down to -850 mbar. Despite its compact dimensions, the hand test pump
CPP 7 is easy to operate and allows for exact generation of the required test pressures. The
maximum pressure or vacuum achievable depends on the attached test volume. The smooth-running
pressure generation and the integrated fine adjustment valve allow a safe and precise setting of very
small positive respectively negative pressure values in the range of mbar.
The test device and the reference instrument can be easily connected by means of a T-connector with
tube connection.

3. Mounting instructions .
Mount the T-connector (6) into the 1/8 NPT female thread of the pump body using PTFE tape.
Mount the 4 tubing connectors (7) into both 1/8 NPT female threads of the T-connector (6) and of
both G ½“ pressure connectors (1) using PTFE tape.
Connect each pressure connector (1) with one port at the T-connector (6) of the pump by plugging
the flexible hose (8) into the quick connectors (7).
The reference instrument as well as the test item is mounted into a pressure connector (1).
For sealing please use the sealing gaskets supplied with the pump. Tighten the connector to
prevent any leaks to a maximum torque of 15 Nm.
Never apply external pressure to the CPP 7. Do not connect to external pressure
sources.

4. Operation of the test pump .
4.1 Generation of pressure .
Make sure, the pressure relief and change over valve for pressure/vacuum (3) is in „VENT“
position.

Turn the fine adjustment valve (2) counter-clockwise fully out (smooth “stop” can be felt)
Turn the pressure relief and change over valve (3) to „PRESSURE“ position.
Operate the ram (5) of the hand pump until the approximate pressure has been achieved.
Turn the fine adjustment valve clockwise to increase the pressure or anti-clockwise to decrease the
pressure until the requested test pressure has been reached precisely (to be read on the reference
measuring instrument).
NOTE: After increasing the pressure, the reading may slightly drop again for about 30
seconds, which is caused by thermodynamic effects, the tube connection and the
sealing gaskets. If the pressure drop does not come to a standstill, check the
measuring circuit for tightness.
Due to the low volume of each compression stroke of the hand test pump, only small
volume test specimens should be tested.
A pressure reduction is achieved by turning the fine adjustment valve (2) anticlockwise first and
then by carefully switching the change-over valve (3) to “VENT” position.
Remove the reference instrument or the test specimen only when the relief
valve (3) is open and no pressure is in the test pump any more.

4.2 Generation of vacuum .
Make sure, the pressure relief and change over valve for pressure/vacuum (3) is in „VENT“
position.

Turn the fine adjustment valve (2) clockwise up to the end (“stop” can be felt)
Turn the pressure relief and change over valve (3) to „VACUUM“ position.
Operate the ram (5) of the hand pump until the approximate vacuum has been achieved.
Turn the fine adjustment valve anti-clockwise to increase the vacuum or clockwise to decrease the
vacuum until the requested vacuum has been reached precisely (to be read on the reference
measuring instrument).
NOTE: After increasing the vacuum, the reading may slightly increase again for about
30 seconds, which is caused by thermodynamic effects, the tube connection and the
sealing gaskets. If the vacuum drop does not come to a standstill, check the
measuring circuit for tightness.
Due to the low volume of each compression stroke of the hand test pump, only small

5. Maintenance instructions .
Prior to connecting the reference instrument and the test specimen, the sealing gasket in the two
connectors should be checked for correct position and wear, and should be replaced, if and when
necessary.
The hand test pump CPP30 must not be soiled, and in particular it must not get into
contact with fluid or aggressive media.
6. Cause of fault .
If the pressure or vacuum cannot be generated correctly or if the set pressure or vacuum does not
stay stable, this is likely to be caused by the incorrectly positioned or selected sealing gaskets.
Please also check wether any adapters used on the test connections have been tightened
sufficiently to eliminate leaks.
Before assuming there is a leak in the hand test pump:
First of all, check if the change-over valve (3) is not switched to “VENT” position.
If the test pump has not been used for a longer period of time, the first lift may be somewhat
sluggish. This effect will disappear again during further operation.
By no means apply any force to the operating elements of the hand test pump.
Never connect an external pressure supply system to the
CPP7 hand test pump.
