Y ou can p rog r am an IVX S -C la ss sy st em fr om a 24 or 48-K e y Di g ita l Fe at u r e Pho ne in th e sy st em ( whi l e
the system is operating). Read the S-Class User’s Guide fi rs t. Programmi ng f eatures require a clear
understandi ng of user interface and application.
Once you’ve accessed programming mode on a 24 or 48-Key Digital Feature Phone, the system will
prompt for — and conf irm — each keystroke action via voi ce commands and the display. You program
both configuration data and recordings in the same manner.
Note: This manual uses the term Generation II to refer to IVX S-Class systems introduced in 2004.
Important: During programming, the 24-Key Feature Phone’s two- line display shares t he same c ontent as
the top two lines of the 48-Key Featur e Phone’s three- line display. As a result, to save spa ce, the
sample displays shown herein will show only two lines.
References thr oughout this manual to separate PROGRAM and HELP ke y s are val i d for on l y the
48-Ke y Digital Featur e Phone. On the 24-Key Digital Feature P hone, the two key s are combined
into one PROG/HELP key, which is to be used in place of the separate keys.

eliminate the need to memorize codes. An Expansion Console is available for the 48-Key Digital
Feature Phone; and each 48-Key Feature Phone model i ncludes an integrat ed headset jack. E S I

Programming basics
You may program from any 24-Key or 48-Key Digital F eature Phone1 in the system:

1. Press PROGRAM
to play.
2. Press HOLD. The “enter password” prompt will play.
3. Enter the Administrator passwo r d (default is 4 5 6). Then, to confirm the password, either pre ss #
or wait two seconds. You are now in programming mode. The extension will be automatically
placed in DND, and its displa y will show:

Programming keys
During programming, the first line of the display will show the current item being programmed, and the
second line will be the entry line. You can enter values as directed by the combi nation of the voice
prompts and di splay. To enter multiple values, such as a list of ext ension numbers, separate each value
by # (to exit t he l ist, enter # #).

Entering alphanumeric characters
You enter names f or extensions, departments, and branch IDs by pressing the dial pad key that
corresponds to t he character to be entered. The key’s p ossible entries will change each time the key is
pressed, and the display will show this. When t he desired character appears on the display , press # to
confirm; the cursor wil l m o ve t o the next charact er positi on. You may move the cu rsor left (to correct
an entry) by p ressing the left scroll key (

Remote setting of day, night, holiday and auto modes
Normally, the system’s da y/night mode operation will be manually controlled at an E S I Feature Phone
and/or set to follow the da y/ night mode table s (programmed by the Installer) automatical ly. In addit i on,
the Admi ni strator can remotely change the mode and/or re-record t he holiday greeti ng to handle
unexpected cl osings such as for inclement weather.
Remotely loggi ng into the sy st em wi t h t he Administ rator password lets the calle r re-record the ID 1
greetings (day and night) and t he holiday greeti ng, as well as chan ge the mode to day/ni ght/holiday
(or auto).

Accessing user station programming
Should a user forget his password or if an employee leaves the organization, t his feature allows the
Installe r or Administrator to enter a u ser's stati on programmi ng and operate withi n i t as i f he were the
user. From t he user’s station, ent er the Administrator pass word when the system prompts for t he
user password.
