INSTRUCTIONS FOR STROBELITE SOFT BOXES
The Strobelite Box is a fabric shell with a silver interior. Boxes have an internal baffle, exterior diffusion panel, four support rods and a storage bag. The Strobelite soft boxes are designed to withstand up to 500 watts of heat. If overheating is a concern, the Box’s unique design allows heat to escape by opening the flaps in the back of the unit or opening the 2 heat vents. The Strobelite Box comes in three sizes: #786 (16” x 22”), #787 (24” x 32”), #788 (36” x 48”).
To assemble the Strobelite Box, an adapter ring must To mount the Strobelite Box onto the Strobelite adap ter ring, insert the
support rods into the rod loop holes in the corners of the fabric shell of the Box and into the end pockets at the front edge of the box just before the Velcro for the front diffusion panel. Place the Box onto a table or the floor and spread rods apart so the Box is rectangular in shape with the open rod ends facing up. Insert one rod into the hole marked B1 of the adapter ring. While pressing down on the adapter ring, insert the next rod into hole B3. The pressure exerted on the adapter ring should be enough to bring the adapter ring down to easily guide the next rod into place. Bend the rod directly beside the second one to coincide with the angle of the hole B2 in the adapter ring. (You should be inserting the rods in t he d irec ti on of a figure eight, ending with the rod that was directly beside the first rod inserted). Slide the remaining rod end into the hole marked B4 of the adapter ring. **
Note that all rods must be seated completely into the holes of the ring. Strobelite boxes may also be mounted onto other adapter rings on the market.
After the Strobelite Box is mounted onto the adapter ring, mount the Box and adapter ring onto the light head. The internal baffle may now be snapped into place. Next, the external diffusion may be fastened onto the front of the unit. The external diffusion panel can be used in either the recessed or flat front positions. The adapter ring should also allow the Strobelite Box to turn from a long profile to a wide profile even after it is mounted on the light.
To dismount the adapter ring, first remove the diffusion panel. Put the Strobelite Box onto a table or the floor. Position the Box so that a rod is easily accessible to your hand. While exerting a slight pressure onto the adapter ring with your other hand, pull steadily on the rod. The object of putting pressure onto the adapter ring is to line up the ang le b etw een the rod and the adapter ring port. (The angles created by the tension on the metal rod push against the adapter ring ports. This is what causes the Box to stay mounted onto the ring.) After one rod is pulled out, release the pressure on the adapter ring. Pulling steadily on the opposite rod to dismount it followed by the remaining 2 rods.
