INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
RETROFIT KIT# 65655A
Kit #65655A replaces existing mercury 1P and 2P relays with a single electronic 3P E-Safe relay.

PREPARATION
Disconnect griddle from electric power and allow to cool before proceeding.
Remove front panel. Remove and discard both relays.
Cut off two top right weldstuds.
Mark and drill 3/16” hole for mounting E-Safe relay. De-burr
the hole.
CAUTION:
ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD
Disconnect from electric power before servicing appliance.
CAUTION:
BURN HAZARD
Allow unit to cool before proceeding.
IMPORTANT
Old relays contain mercury. Dispose of properly per applicable codes and ordinances.
Before removal, mark wires at relay .
SUGGESTION
Weldstuds may be removed with end cutters. Alternately, a rotary tool with cut-off disk may be used, provided that other components in the control box are protected from cutting sparks and debris. Weldstuds do not need to be removed completely, but must be reduced to prevent interference with the new relay.

NOTE:
The E-Safe relay has more stringent cooling requirements than mercury relays. This kit provides a thermal insulation backing and a ventilated front panel to help maintain acceptable temperatures within the control box.

INSTALLATION
E-Safe relays is installed with control terminals A1 & A2 positioned to the upper right.
Mount lower right oblong mounting hole of relay on lower right weldstud. Be sure remaining portions of cut-off weldstuds do not contact relay. Use existing nut to secure relay.
Use provided screw and nut to secure relay upper left mounting hole to newly drilled hole in control panel.
Crimp provided ring terminals on existing wires:
#2 (T1), #3 (T2), #4(T3), #5 (L3), #6 (L2) and #7 (L3).
Crimp provided push-on terminals on existing wires:
#12 (A2) and #13 (A1).
Reconnect wires to relay using wiring diagram p/n 307339.
Cut thermal insulation as indicated and install on rear of control
panel.
Tape envelope with wiring diagram to inside left end of control box.
Reassemble new front panel to control box.
Reconnect unit to electric power. Test unit for proper operation.
