Alarm Holdoffs

Propaq Audio and Visual Alarm Holdoffs

Motion artifact or other factors can cause false vital sign alarms.
To help minimize false alarms, the Propaq briefly delays or
“holds off” triggering alarms for certain vital sign limit
violations.

After the alarm holdoff period begins, if the monitor detects that
the patient’s vital sign has returned to acceptable limits, the
Propaq cancels the alarm holdoff. The next time a vital sign limit
is violated, the Propaq starts a new alarm holdoff period. The
following table summarizes the alarm holdoff periods.

When the Propaq is connected to the Acuity Central Monitoring
System, Acuity does not receive any alarm indication from the
monitor until this holdoff period expires.

When a Propaq is connected to an Acuity System, the audio
alarms at the bedside monitor are delayed for 10 seconds. When
the monitor informs Acuity that an alarm condition has occurred,
Acuity does the following:

• Produces the audio and visual alarm at the Acuity Central
Monitor.

• Sends the bedside monitor a signal that delays the bedside
audio alarm for 10 seconds (the bedside monitor displays the
visual alarm indications without delay).

After the 10-second delay, the bedside audio alarm occurs.

Acuity SpO2 Alarm Holdoff

When connected to Propaq 100 Series monitors, the Acuity
System may be configured to hold off the visual and audio alarm
for SpO2 at the Acuity Central Monitor for up to 10 seconds. After

the holdoff period expires, the alarms occur at Acuity.

Update

While this SpO2 alarm holdoff is occurring at Acuity, the
10-second audio alarm holdoff at the bedside Propaq 100 is also

occurring as previously described (see “Propaq Audio Alarm
Holdoff with Acuity”). After the 10-second delay, the bedside
audio alarm occurs. Contact Protocol Systems Technical Support
for more information about this feature.

How to Change Power-On Default Settings

The power-on default settings for a Propaq Encore or Pr opaq 100
Series monitor are preset at the factory to the “Factory Default
Settings” listed in Appendix B of the

Propaq Encore Reference Guide.

However, you can change any of these power-on default settings.

Change Power-On Settings for Date, Decimal, ECG Filter,
and LCD Contrast

Whenever you change any of these settings, you also
immediately change the corresponding power-on default setting.
No other steps are needed. (The LCD contrast setting is only
available with the Propaq 100 Series LCD monitors.)

Change Other Power-On Settings

To change all other power-on settings such as ECG size, alarm
limits, or printer settings:

1.

Select the desired monitor settings
(for example, select ALARM TONE as HIGH).

2.

From the Main Menu, press:

• Propaq Encore:

SETUP, MORE, MORE, PROGRAM, CURRENT, YES

• Propaq 100 Series:

SYSTEM, (MORE), PROGRAM, CURRENT

The monitor selects all of the current settings as the power-on
default settings.

WARNING

If any alarms are set to OFF and you select CURRENT (to set current
settings as power-on settings), those alarms will be OFF at power-on for
subsequent patients. Consider carefully before setting power-on alarms
to OFF.

The alarm for apnea cannot be turned off at any time.

Verzögerung akustischer und visueller Alarme beim
Propaq

Bewegungsartefakte oder andere Faktoren können zu falschen
Vitalfunktionsalarmen führen. Um die Zahl derartiger falscher
Alarme so gering wie möglich zu halten, löst der Propaq bei
Verletzungen bestimmter Vitalfunktionsgrenzwerte erst nach
einer kurzen Verzögerungszeit Alarm aus.

Wenn der Monitor nach Beginn der jeweiligen
Alarmverzögerungszeit ermittelt, daß die betreffende
Vitalfunktion des Patienten wieder akzeptable Werte aufweist,
wird die Alarmverzögerung abgebrochen und der Alarm nicht
ausgelöst. Wird danach erneut ein Vitalfunktionsgrenzwert
verletzt, setzt wieder die jeweilige Verzögerungszeit ein. In der
folgenden Tabelle ist die Zeit in Sekunden aufgeführt, um die die
Alarmauslösung bei den jeweiligen Funktionen verzögert wird.

Wenn der Propaq an das zentrale Überwachungssystem Acuity
angeschlossen ist, empfängt Acuity von diesem Monitor erst
dann eine Alarmmeldung, wenn die entsprechende
Verzögerungszeit abgelaufen ist.

Verzögerung akustischer Alarme bei Einbindung des
Propaq in das Acuity System

Ist ein Propaq an das Acuity System angeschlossen, werden
akustische Alarme am bettseitigen Monitor um 10 Sekunden
verzögert. Sobald Acuity vom Bett-Monitor die Meldung erhalten
hat, daß ein Alarmzustand eingetreten ist, geht Acuity
folgendermaßen vor:

• Auf dem Zentralmonitor von Acuity wird akustisch und
visuell der entsprechende Alarm ausgelöst.

• Dem Monitor wird ein Signal gesendet, das den am Bett
auszulösenden akustischen Alarm um 10 Sekunden verzögert
(visuelle Alarme werden am Bettmonitor ohne Verzögerung
angezeigt).

Nach Ablauf dieser Zeitspanne wird am Bett der entsprechende
akustische Alarm ausgelöst.

Hinweis...

Akustische Alarme werden nicht verzögert, wenn folgendes vorliegt bzw.
eingestellt ist:

• Neugeborenenmodus (Propaq Encore)

• Apnoe (Propaq Encore und Propaq 100-Serie)

Wenn es mit Monitoren der Propaq 100-Serie verbunden ist, läßt
sich das Acuity System so konfigurieren, daß akustische und
visuelle SpO2-Alarme auf dem Acuity-Zentralmonitor um bis zu
zehn Sekunden verzögert werden. Nach Ablauf dieser Zeitspanne
werden die entsprechenden Alarme über Acuity ausgelöst.

Während der SpO2-Alarm von Acuity auf diese Weise verzögert
wird, erfolgt am bettseitigen Propaq 100 eine ebenfalls
zehnsekündige Verzögerung des entsprechenden akustischen
Alarms (siehe “Verzögerung akustischer Alarme bei Einbindung
des Propaq in das Acuity System”). Nach Ablauf dieser
Zeitspanne wird am Bett akustischer Alarm ausgelöst. Weitere
Informationen zu dieser Funktion erhalten Sie beim Technical
Support von Protocol Systems.

So ändern Sie die beim Einschalten des Geräts gültigen Grundeinstellungen

Die Grundeinstellungen für einen eingeschalteten Propaq
Encore- bzw. Propaq-Monitor der Serie 100 werden im Werk auf
die “V om Hersteller pr ogrammierten Werte” voreingestellt, die in
Anhang B der Propaq Gebrauchsanweisung sowie der Propaq

Encore Gebrauchsanweisung aufgeführt sind.

Jede dieser Grundeinstellungen kann jedoch von Ihnen geändert
werden.

Ändern der Grundeinstellungen für Datum,
Dezimalzeichen, EKG-Filter und LCD-Kontrast

Jedesmal, wenn Sie eine dieser Einstellungen ändern, ändern Sie
gleichzeitig auch die entsprechende Grundeinstellung, die beim
Einschalten des Geräts Gültigkeit hat. Es sind keine weiteren
Schritte notwendig. Die Option LCD-Kontrast steht nur für die
LCD-Monitore der Propaq 100-Serie zur Verfügung.

So ändern Sie alle sonstigen Grundeinstellungen des

in Betrieb nehmen. Wägen Sie deshalb sorgfältig ab, bevor Sie
festlegen, daß bestimmte Alarme bei Einschalten des Monitors auf AUS
gestellt sind.

Zurücksetzen auf die werkseitigen Grundeinstellungen
für das eingeschaltete Gerät

Um den Monitor wieder auf die ursprünglichen, vom Hersteller
programmierten Grundeinstellungen zurückzusetzen (siehe Anhang
B der Propaq Gebrauchsanweisung bzw. der Propaq Encore
Gebrauchsanweisung), gehen Sie folgendermaßen vor:

1. Drücken Sie im Hauptmenü folgendes:

• Propaq Encore:

SETUP, WEITER, WEITER, PROGRAMM, GRUNDEIN, JA.

• Propaq 100-Serie:

SYSTEM, (WEITER), PROGRAMM, GRUNDEIN.

Durch diesen Schritt werden alle Grundeinstellungen, die beim Einschalten
des Geräts gültig sind, auf die werkseitigen Grundeinstellungen
zurückgesetzt, außer Datum, Dezimalzeichen und EKG-Filter (und LCD­Kontrast). Für diese Einstellungen werden die aktuellen Werte beibehalten.

Neue Bezeichnungen auf der rechten Anschlußplatte

Die Propaq Encore-Monitore und die Monitore der Propaq 100-Serie
weisen auf der rechten Anschlußplatte neue Bezeichnungen auf. Der
Acuity-Anschluß heißt jetzt “Networks ACUITY MODEM.” Er
ermöglicht entweder den direkten Anschluß an ein Acuity System
oder den Anschluß an ein externes Modem zur Telekommunikation
mit einem Acuity System. Weitere Erläuterungen finden Sie im

Suspension des alarmes sonores et visuelles du Propaq

Un mouvement ou d’autres artefacts déclenchent parfois de
fausses alarmes des signes vitaux. Pour réduire ces erreurs,
Propaq retarde brièvement ou “suspend” le déclenchement des
alarmes dans certaines conditions de dépassement de la limite
d’un signe vital.

Si, après le début de la période de suspension d’alarme, le
moniteur détecte que le signe vital du patient revient à des
limites acceptables, Propaq annule la suspension d’alarme. Si un
nouveau dépassement de la limite d’un signe vital intervient,
Propaq déclenche une nouvelle période de suspension d’alarme.
Les périodes de suspension sont résumées dans le tableau
suivant.

Lorsqu’un Propaq est connecté à un système Acuity, les alarmes
sonores du Propaq de chevet sont retardées de 10 secondes. Dès
qu’Acuity est informé de la situation d’alarme par le moniteur , le
système :

• Déclenche une alarme sonore et visuelle à la station centrale
du système Acuity.

• Envoie au Propaq de chevet un signal qui retarde de 10
secondes son alarme sonore (les indications d’alarme visuelle
s’affichent cependant immédiatement sur le Propaq de
chevet).

Au bout des 10 secondes, l’alarme sonore du Propaq de chevet
retentit.

Note...

Il n’y a pas de suspension de l’alarme sonore dans les cas suivants :

• En mode Néonatal (Propaq Encore)

• En mode Apnée (Propaq Encore et Propaq Série 100)

Suspension de l’alarme de la SpO2 sur Acuity

Connecté à des moniteurs Propaq Série 100, le système Acuity
peut être configuré pour suspendre les alarmes visuelles et
sonores pour la SpO2 sur la station centrale du système Acuity
pendant un maximum de 10 secondes. Passé ce délai, les alarmes
sont répercutées sur Acuity.

Pendant que l’alarme de la SpO2 est suspendue sur Acuity,
l’alarme sonore est suspendue pendant 10 secondes sur le Propaq

les 10 secondes, l’alarme sonore du Propaq de chevet se

Les paramètres par défaut à la mise sous tension pour un
moniteur Propaq Encore ou Propaq Série 100 sont prédéfinis en
usine, conformément aux “Paramètres par défaut en sortie
d’usine” donnés en Annexe B du Guide de référence du Propaq et
du Guide de référence du Propaq Encore.

Les paramètres par défaut à la mise sous tension peuvent
néanmoins être modifiés.

Modification des paramètres à la mise sous tension pour
les Date, Valeur décimale, Filtre ECG, et Contraste de
l’écran LCD

La modification de l’un quelconque de ces paramètres entraîne
immédiatement la modification du paramètre à la mise sous
tension correspondant, sans qu’il soit nécessaire d’intervenir
davantage. (Le réglage du Contraste de l’écran LCD n’est
disponible que sur les moniteurs LCD du Propaq Série 100.)

Modification des autres paramètres à la mise sous
tension

Pour modifier les autres paramètres à la mise sous tension, par
exemple l’amplitude de l’ECG, les limites d’alarme, ou les
paramètres de l’imprimante, vous devez :

1. Sélectionner les paramètres souhaitÈs du moniteur

(par exemple, sélectionnez TON ALARME sur FORT).

2. Dans le menu principal, appuyer sur :

• Propaq Encore :

CONFIG, SUITE, SUITE, PROGRAM, COURANTE, OUI.

• Propaq Série 100 :

SYSTEME, (SUITE), PROGRAM, COURANTE.

Le moniteur sélectionne tous les paramètres courants comme
ceux par défaut pour la mise sous tension.

Mise en Garde

Si certaines alarmes sont définies sur DESACT tandis que vous
sélectionnez COURANTE (pour définir les paramètres courants en tant
que paramètres pour la mise sous tension), ces alarmes seront définies
sur DESACT à la mise sous tension pour les patients suivants. Vous
devez bien réfléchir avant de définir les alarmes sur DESACT pour la
mise sous tension.

en sortie d’usine à la mise sous tension (voir l’Annexe B du Guide
de référence du Propaq et du Guide de référence du Propaq Encore),
vous devez :

1. Dans le menu principal, appuyer sur :

Retención de alarmas auditivas y visuales del monitor

Los artefactos producidos por el movimiento u otros factores
pueden activar alarmas de signos vitales falsas. Para contribuir a
reducir al mínimo las alarmas falsas, el Propaq retarda
brevemente o “retiene” el disparo de las alarmas en relación con
determinadas violaciones de los límites de los signos vitales.

Después de iniciarse el periodo de retención de alarma, si el
monitor detecta que el signo vital del paciente ha vuelto a
establecerse en unos límites aceptables, el Propaq cancela la
retención de alarma. La próxima vez que se viole un límite de los
signos vitales, el Propaq iniciará un nuevo periodo de retención
de alarma. En la tabla siguiente se resumen los periodos de
retención de alarma.

Cuando el Propaq se conecta al Sistema de monitorización central
Acuity, Acuity no recibe ninguna indicación de alarma
procedente del monitor hasta que vence este periodo de

Retención de alarmas auditivas del monitor Propaq con
Acuity

Cuando se conecta un Propaq a un Sistema Acuity, las alarmas
auditivas producidas en el monitor de cabecera se retardan
durante 10 segundos. Cuando el monitor informa a Acuity de
que se ha producido una condición de alarma, Acuity lleva a cabo
los siguientes pasos:

• Genera la alarma auditiva y visual en el Monitor central
Acuity.

• Envía al monitor de cabecera una señal que retarda la alarma
auditiva de cabecera durante 10 segundos (el monitor de
cabecera muestra indicaciones de la alarma visual sin
retardo).

Transcurrido el retardo de 10 segundos, se produce la alarma
auditiva de cabecera.

Esta retención de alarmas auditivas no se produce en los casos siguientes:

• Modo Neonatal (Propaq Encore)

• Apnea (Propaq Encore y Propaq Serie 100)

Retención de alarmas de SpO2 de Acuity

El Sistema Acuity, si está conectado a monitores Propaq Serie 100,
puede configurarse para retener la alarma visual y auditiva de
SpO2 en el Monitor central Acuity durante un máximo de 10
segundos. Cuando el periodo de retención vence, las alarmas se
producen en Acuity.

Mientras se produce esta retención de alarma de SpO2 en Acuity, la
retención de alarma auditiva de 10 segundos en el monitor de
cabecera Propaq 100 también se genera, como se ha descrito
anteriormente (consulte “Retención de alarmas auditivas del
monitor Propaq con Acuity”). Transcurrido el retardo de 10
segundos, se produce la alarma auditiva de cabecera. Póngase en
contacto con el Servicio técnico de Protocol Systems para obtener
más información sobre esta función.

Cómo cambiar los ajustes predeterminados de encendido

Los ajustes predeterminados de encendido para un monitor
Propaq Encore o un monitor Propaq Serie 100 se establecen
previamente en fábrica según los valores enumerados en
“Ajustes Predeterminados de Fábrica” del Apéndice B de la Guía
de Referencias Propaqy la Guía de Referencias Propaq Encore.

Sin embargo, puede modificarse cualquiera de estos ajustes
predeterminados de encendido.

Cambio de los ajustes de encendido de Date, Decimal,
ECG Filter y LCD Contrast

Siempre que se modifica alguno de estos ajustes, también cambia
inmediatamente el ajuste predeterminado de encendido
correspondiente. No es preciso efectuar ningún otro paso. (El
ajuste de contraste de LCD sólo está disponible con los monitores
LCD Propaq Serie 100.)

Cambio de otros ajustes de encendido

Para cambiar el resto de los ajustes de encendido, como tamaño
de ECG, límites de alarmas o ajustes de impresión:

1. Seleccione los ajustes concretos del monitor

(por ejemplo, elija ALTO para TONO ALARMA).

2. En el Menú principal, pulse:

• En el caso del monitor Propaq Encore:

CONFIG, MAS, MAS, PROGRAMA, ACTUAL, SI.

• En el caso del monitor Propaq Serie 100:

SYSTEM, (MÁS), PROGRAMA, ACTUAL.

El monitor selecciona todos los ajustes actuales como los
valores predeterminados de encendido.

ADVERTENCIA

Si alguna de las alarmas se ha configurado en NO y selecciona ACTUAL
(para establecer los valores actuales como ajustes de encendido), esta
alarma estará en NO en el encendido para los pacientes posteriores.
Antes de configurar las alarmas de encendido en NO, es conveniente
pensarlo cuidadosamente.

La alarma de apnea no puede desactivarse en ningún momento.

Si cambia el modo del paciente, los ajustes de límites de alarmas cambian
automáticamente a los valores predeterminados correspondientes a dicho
modo.

Restauración de los ajustes de encendido
predeterminados en fábrica

Para volver a programar el monitor con los ajustes de encendido
originales predeterminados en fábrica (tal como se enumeran en
el Apéndice B de la Guía de Referencias Propaq y la Guía de
Referencias Propaq Encore):

1. En el Menú principal, pulse:

• En el caso del monitor Propaq Encore:

CONFIG, MÁS, MÁS, PROGRAMA, DEFAULT, SI.

• En el caso del monitor Propaq Serie 100:

SYSTEM, (MÁS), PROGRAMA, DEFAULT.

Con este paso se sustituyen todos los ajustes de encendido predeterminados
por los ajustes predeterminados en fábrica salvo por Date, Decimal y ECG
Filter (y LCD Contrast). Estos ajustes mantienen el valor actual.

Nueva etiqueta del panel lateral derecho

Los monitores Propaq Encore y Propaq Serie 100 incorporan
etiquetas nuevas en el panel lateral derecho. El conector de
Acuity se llama ahora “Networks ACUITY MODEM”. Permite la
conexión directa a un Sistema Acuity o bien la conexión a un
módem externo de telecomunicaciones con un Sistema Acuity.
Consulte la Guía de Referencias Modem-Propaq para obtener
más información.
