Use only with approved hose bibbs or hose fittings having four or more full American National Hose (NH) threads.
INSTALLATION: Before installing, flush pipe line to remove scale and debris. The valve can be installed horizontally or vertically. Install with the arrow on valve body pointing in the direction of flow. No. N9-CD is furnished with an inlet gasket, pipe dope or teflon tape should not be used. To install, thread the N9-CD onto the hose thread outlet, the built-in non-removable locking feature prevents removal.
IMPORTANT: These devices are not intended for installation where emergency or temporary water discharge can cause water dam­age because they are not designed to be spill free under all service conditions. For this reason and for maintenance accessibility, these devices must not be installed inside a wall or any concealed location.

Field Test Instructions for Model N9-CD
1. Install the device per the installation instructions.
2. Attach a hose and nozzle to the outlet of the device (Fig. 1).
3. Turn on supply and pressurize the device and the hose. Run sufficient amounts of water through the nozzle to purge the air.
4. Turn off nozzle and then the supply. There must be no leakage at the device, hose or the nozzle.
5. Turn the device counterclockwise while applying a gentle pull at the same time (Fig. 2). A spurt of water should be observed at the vents of the device. If no water is observed, this indicates a faulty device. (Retighten device by turning clockwise.)
6. Raise the hose and the nozzle to a height of 10 feet (3 meters) and hold for five (5) minutes (Fig. 3). If there is a continuous leakage of water at the vents, this indicates a faulty device.
7. If the device passes steps 5 and 6, it should be reported as functional.
8. If the device fails either step 5 or 6 or both, it must be repaired
