Electrical connection
Electrical connections must be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with the guidelines and standards for low-voltage installations and the specifications of the local electricity supply companies. Refer to the identification plate for information on the required mains voltage, current type and fuse protection.
A plug-in appliance may only be connected to a socket outlet with earthing contact, installed according to specifications. An all-pole mains isolating device with 3 mm contact opening should be provided in the house wiring system. Switches, plug and socket devices, circuit breakers and fusible cut-outs which are accessible after installation and which have all-poles switching are permissible as isolating devices. Effective earthing and separately installed neutral and earth conductors ensure safe and fault-free operation. After installation, live parts and cables with basic insulation must not be accessible. Check old installations.
If the hobs are used at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea level, a reduced performance must be expected.
The appliance is equipped with a connection cable which must be connected to an on-site junction box.
Error message U400
Faulty connection: A pole conductor has been connected to the connection terminal for neutral conductors.
Quickly disconnect the appliance from the mains!
General information about installation
The distance from the appliance cut-out to flammable walls (left, right and rear) must be ≥50mm. Parts such as side walls and reinforcing strips which protrude into the installation space under the cooking zone must be made of noncombustible materials. It is recommended that a distance of 20mm be maintained between the underside of the appliance tray and any part of the cabinet beneath that is made of combustible material. If a drawer is installed directly underneath – and if the tray can be reached from below without the aid of tools – protection against accidental contact must be ensured. The thermal shielding plate set (see Accessories) is recommended for this purpose.
Note for for flush installation
These appliances are typically installed in stone worktops.
The worktop must be flat and at least 20mm thick.
The appliance is embedded in the cut-out made in the stone worktop by the producer (see accompanying cementing-in instructions).
Only use cementing-in material (black silicone) that is good, not old and achieves the necessary final strength and elasticity within a 24-hour curing time.
A cement set and special primer are available for fitting in non-absorbent worktop materials (See Accessories).

1. Clean/prime the bonding surfaces on the stone and installation rails well and leave to dry thoroughly.
2. Apply the adhesive to the stone and smooth with a scraper. Apply a thin layer of activator to the bonding surface of the installation rails.
3. Centre the installation rails and press down on them firmly. Observe the recommended setting time of the adhesive used.

Installation
1. Create an accurate installation cut-out.
– The mounting surface can be reamed out or created by installing wood/stone supports or using the steel angle set (see Accessor-
ies).
Access to the appliance from below via the entire cut-out area must be guaranteed. For servicing purposes, the induction generator can be removed from below with the mounting plate. It must be possible to unscrew the contact-proof covers from below.
2. Prepare the cut-out and appliance in accordance with the specifications in the enclosed cementing-in instructions.
3. Carefully cement the appliance in and leave the silicone sealant to dry for at least 24 hours.
4. Connect to the electrical mains connection before inserting the appliance, if necessary.

6. Lower the appliance symmetrically into the mounting cut-out until it reaches the spring clips on the work surface. The connection cable must not touch the hot areas of the tray located underneath the cooking zones.
The appliances with oversize frames can also be used as a replacement for solid plate hobs and for installation in complete chromenickel steel covers. In the latter case, the solid plate hob part is cut out of the chrome-nickel steel cover and replaced by an appliance (depth of the work surface ≥30mm). In contrast to normal installation without a fastening system, the appliance is fixed from below using adjusting braces.

Reinforcement of the cut-outs with a complete chrome-nickel steel cover
Arrangement of the adjusting braces
The installation instructions with regard to electrical and safety-related issues remain fully valid for this installation.
1. Make a precise, right-angled cut-out in the work surface (if not already present). Aim to keep the cut-out dimensions to a minimum.
2. Securely clamp the appliance in the cut-out using the enclosed adjusting braces D and screws E. If necessary, install reinforcing slats and use these to make the cover flat.
