Nevertheless, do take the time to read these operating instructions. In this way, you will get to know your appli­ance and learn how to use it optimally and avoid malfunctions.

Safety Instructions
The appliance meets acknowledged engineering standards and ap­plicable safety regulations. To avoid damage and accidents, howe­ver, the appliance must be handled correctly. Please follow the instructions contained in these operating instructions.
According to IEC 60335-1, the following applies:
Persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabili-
ties, or lack of experience and knowledge, prevents them from using the appliance safely may not use this appliance without supervision or instruc­tion by a person responsible for their safety.
Measures to be taken prior to initial start-up
The appliance may only be installed and connected to the mains in accord-
ance with the separate installation instructions. Have the necessary work carried out by a licensed fitter/electrician.
Dispose of the packaging material according to local regulations.Make the user settings you require.

Proper Use
The appliance is designed for preparing food in the household. We accept
no liability for any damages resulting from the appliance being used for un­intended purposes or handled incorrectly.
The appliance must not be used to heat rooms.Repairs, modifications or manipulations to or inside this appliance, espe-
cially to live parts, may only be carried out by the manufacturer, its custom­er service, or a similarly qualified person. Incorrect repairs may result in severe accidents, damage to the appliance and your furnishings, and mal­functions. If the appliance is malfunctioning or you would like to place a repair order, please follow the instructions in the ’Repair Service’ chapter. Please consult our customer service if necessary.
Keep the operating instructions in a safe place for later reference. If you
sell the appliance or give it to a third party, please pass on the operating instructions and the installation instructions. In this way, the new owner can familiarize himself/herself with the correct use of the appliance and the rel­evant instructions.
When there are children in the household
Packaging components (e. g. films, styrofoam) can be dangerous to chil-
dren. Danger of suffocation! Keep packaging components away from children.
The appliance is meant to be used by adults who are familiar with the con-
tents of these operating instructions. Children are often unable to recognize dangers arising from handling electric appliances. Therefore, make sure children are properly supervised, and do no let them play with the appli­ance.
You can install a child protector for a stove to protect toddlers. For more
information, contact the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (Bera­tungsstelle für Unfallverhütung - BfU) in Bern.
Be sure to use the child safety function.

When using the appliance
Unpleasant odours can arise during the first few hours that the appliance
is used. This is a normal occurrence for new appliances. Make sure the room is sufficiently ventilated.
Heat up the appliance for a few minutes to 260° C.If the appliance is visibly damaged, do not put it into operation and contact
our customer service.
If you discover a malfunction or cracks in the surface caused by extreme
mechanical impact, disconnect the appliance from the mains immediately.
If the supply cable of the appliance is damaged, it must be replaced by the
customer service.
If electronic components fail, you may not be able to switch the appliance
off. Unscrew the fuses or switch off the automatic circuit breaker.
Connection cables of other electrical appliances must not touch the hot
grilling surface. This could damage the electrical insulation.
Warning, danger of burns and fire!
Do not leave the appliance unattended during operation.Keep objects made of metal or containing metal components, such as cut-
lery, aluminium foil, and wrapping paper away from the surface.
The heated surface remains hot for some time after you have switched the
appliance off and cools down to room temperature slowly. Take special care before carrying out any activities such as cleaning.
If there is smoke or a fire during operation, switch off the fuse/circuit break-
er in your household fuse box.
Overheated fats and oils are highly flammable! Never try to extinguish burn-
ing fat or oil with water. Risk of explosion! Smother a fire with damp cloths and keep doors and windows closed.
Keep pets away from the appliance.

How to prevent damage to the appliance
The surface is not sensitive to heat (up to 300 °C) and temperature fluctuations, and, to some extent, scratch and impact resistant. Never­theless, observe the following instructions to avoid damage.
Switch the appliance off in the case of overtemperature (error display
) and let it cool down completely.
Do not step on the appliance.Sudden impact, e. g. from a falling salt shaker, can damage the surface.
Do not keep such objects above the appliance.
Do not place hot cookware on the frame.Use the two turners to turn food. It is possible to use a knife to cut on the
grilling surface, but this is not recommended, as it is likely to scratch the surface. Do not use ceramic knives to cut on the grilling surface.
Never hit the grilling surface with the turner or the tip a the knife, as this
could nick the grilling surface.
Intensive and prolonged use of the appliance may require additional venti-
lation, e.g. an open window, or effective ventilation, e.g. operation of the mechanical ventilation device at a higher setting.
Do not use the appliance as a storage place. In particular, do not put any
flammable material, cardboard or plastic packaging on it.
Objects made of tin, zinc or aluminium (including aluminium foil or an emp-
ty espresso maker) can melt on the hot grill zones and cause damage.
Clean the appliance thoroughly after use to prevent any food remaining on
the surface from encrusting.
Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Never spray the appliance with water. Never
use a steam cleaner. Water seeping into the appliance can cause damage!
The hard chromium plated grilling surface will show signs of wear over
time. This, however, does not affect the appliance’s function or quality.
Only original fittings may be used in order to ensure safe operation of this
hob.

Child safety function
The child safety function is meant to prevent the appliance being switched on unintentionally.
Activating the child safety function
The appliance must not be in operation.
A Press the button and the "-" position of the left slider and hold them for
3 seconds. – The indicator is illuminated.
It is not possible to switch the appliance on when the child safety function is activated.
Switching off the child safety function
The appliance must not be in operation.
A Press the button and the "-" position of the left slider and hold them for
3 seconds. – The indicator goes off.
Signal tone
When you operate a button or slider, a signal tone sounds, confirming your entry (factory setting). You can switch the signal tone on and off.
Signal tone ON/OFF
The appliance must not be in operation.
A Press the button and the "-" position of the right-hand slider and hold
them for 3 seconds.
– You will hear a signal tone for confirmation.
When you switch the appliance off, the last setting is preserved.
You cannot switch the signal tone on or off as long as the child safety function is activated.

Operation
When the appliance is switched off, all indicators are unlit, except the hot sur­face indicator if the grill zone is still hot.
Switching the grill zone on
A Press and hold button about 1 second.
– The "On" indicator is illuminated. – Both displays flash .
A Set the cooking temperature you require by moving your finger along the
slider within 10 seconds.
If you do not touch the slider within 10 seconds, the appliance switches itself off for safety reasons.
Setting the cooking temperature
A Move your finger from left to right along the slider .
– The cooking temperature is raised.
or
A Move your finger from right to left along the slider .
– The cooking temperature is lowered.
Switching off the grill zone
A Move your finger all the way to the left along the slider
.
If nothing else is entered, the appliance switches itself off after another 10 seconds.
Switching off the appliance
You can switch the appliance off at any time.
A Press and hold button about 1 second.
– The "On" indicator goes off.

Safety Functions
Automatic safety shut-off
The appliance has a time monitoring feature for the grill zones. This automat­ically switches the grill zone off after two hours.
You can switch the grill zone back on in the usual way.
Overtemperature protection
Control panel
The control panel is equipped with an overtemperature sensor. When the sensor is triggered, the grill zones are switched off. – The display shows a flashing .
The grill zones cannot be used again until the control panel has cooled down. – Once the controls have cooled down, you can stop the flashing
display by pressing any button. After this, you can switch the grill zones back on.
Grilling surface
The grilling surface is equipped with an overtemperature sensor. When this sensor is triggered, the whole appliance, including the controls, is switched off.
Once the appliance has cooled down, you can switch the grill zones back on.

Cleaning the grilling surface
To avoid burns, be careful while cleaning the appliance if it is hot. During and after cleaning, make sure that no grill zone has been switched on unintentionally.
Remove stains as quickly as possible. Dried or encrusted dirt is more difficult to remove.
A To clean the appliance, only use the turners, a soft and, if possible, heat-
resistant cloth or a sponge, water and an appropriate cleaning or care product. Observe the information supplied by the manufacturer of the cleaning product when doing so.
Never use abrasive cleaning agents, scouring sponges that could scratch the surface, metal wool, etc. Cleaning agents containing chlo­rine must not be used. Such products will damage the surface.
Improper handling during cleaning can damage the surface.

Cleaning the appliance while it is hot
A Place a few ice cubes or cold water on the hot grilling surface.
– Warning: hot steam rises from the appliance when you do this!
A Remove larger accumulations of dirt from the grilling surface using the
turner.
A Then clean the grilling surface with water and washing-up liquid, rinse with
clear water and then wipe dry.
Cleaning the appliance when it is cold
A Apply boiling water mixed with washing-up liquid to the grilling surface. Re-
move larger accumulations of dirt from the grilling surface using the turner.
A Then clean the grilling surface with water and washing-up liquid, rinse with
clear water and then wipe dry.
A Residue from egg white should be removed with vinegar or lemon when
the appliance is cold.
Cleaning the glass ceramic frame
A Do not start cleaning until the hot surface indicator goes off. Exception: Im-
mediately remove any sugar and melted plastic with a glass scraper while the surface is still hot.
A Encrusted dirt and food which has boiled over should be removed with a
glass scraper.
A Heavy dirt and spots which glitter like mother of pearl can be removed with
a cleaning agent for stainless steel.
A For the protection and maintenance of the glass ceramic frame, we recom-
mend using protective care products. Observe the information supplied by the manufacturer of the cleaning product when doing so.

Disposal
Packaging
The packaging material (cardboard, PE plastic film and EPS styrofoam) is
labelled and should be recycled, when possible, and disposed of in an en­vironmentally friendly manner.
Deinstallation
Disconnect the appliance from the mains. If the appliance has been per-
manently attached, this must be done by a licensed electrician!
Safety
To avoid accidents due to improper use, especially by children while play-
ing, you should make sure the appliance cannot be used.
Unplug it from the mains or have an electrician remove the connection.
Then cut off the power cable at the appliance.
Disposal
The old appliance is not worthless waste. By disposing of it in the proper
way, you can make sure the raw materials are recycled.
There is a symbol on the rating plate of the appliance. It indicates that
you must not dispose of it as part of normal household waste.
You must dispose of it in accordance with local regulations on waste dis-
posal. Please consult the responsible authorities within your local govern­ment, the local household waste recycling centre or the dealer from whom you purchased the appliance for further information on handling, reusing and recycling the product.
