The VTech® LITTLE SMART® Light-Up Carousel™ learning toy is designed specifically for children 9 months and up. This classic push-button spin toy introduces animals, shapes, numbers, and music, all in a colorful carousel design. The LITTLE SMAR T® Light-Up Carousel™ learning toy includes all the decoration and fun of a real merry-go-round as well as valuable learning activities that will both delight and teach your child!

WARNING:All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 “AA” (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new, alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover .

BATTERY NOTICE
Install batteries correctly observing the polarity (+,-) signs to avoid leakage.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not use batteries of different types.
Remove exhausted or new batteries from the equipment when you are not going to use the unit for a long time.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
NOTE: If for some reason the program/activity stops working, then please
follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand f or a fe w minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. If the problem persists, please call our Consumer Services
Department at 1-800-521-2010 in the U.S., 1-800-267-7377 in Canada, or (01235) 546810 in the U.K. and a service representative will be happy to help you.

TO BEGIN PLAY
1. To begin play, slide the ON/OFF SWITCH to the ON position ( ).
You will hear a short tune and lights will flash in rhythm with the sound.
2. To adjust the volume, slide the
VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
located on the bottom of the unit, to the Low V olume ( ) or High Volume ( ) position.
3. T o turn the unit OFF, slide the ON/OFF SWITCH to the OFF position ( ).

SPIN ACTIVITIES
1. With the unit turned ON, firmly push down and quickly release the large center button on the top of the carousel. The carousel figures will spin smoothly and lights will flash in rhythm to the melody being played. After the spinning and melody completely stop, push the center push button again to start a new spin and melody.
Five Cheerful Melodies:
• Animal Fair
• The Merry Go Round
• Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
• Three Little Kittens
• The Mulberry Bush
2. With the unit turned OFF, push and release the large center button on the top of the carousel. The carousel figures will spin smoothly without lights or melody play.
Note: The carousel will stop spinning if any of the carousel figures are blocked.

BUTTON ACTIVITIES
1. Press any of the buttons on the base of the unit while the carousel is spinning. You will hear the button animal sing along with the melody and lights will flash in rhythm with the sound. For example, press the Duck/ Heart/Four button to hear the duck sing to the melody and lights.
2. Press any of the four Animal/Shape/ Number buttons on the base of the unit while the carousel is not spinning. Y ou will hear the button animal identified and a sound effect. Press the same button again to hear the button shape identified and a short melody. Press the same button a third time to hear the button number identified and a short tune. Lights will flash in rhythm with the sound.
3. Press the single Carousel Friends button on the base of the unit to hear random silly sound effects. Lights will flash in rhythm with the sound.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
