Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Count & Learn School Bus™ learning toy!
The Count & Learn School BusTM takes your infant on a colorful ride as they learn animals, numbers and colors. Four character balls create interactive sound effects as they are dropped into the bus. The side of the bus even features four colorful press-to-sound piano keys to keep your child playing for hours.

wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
NOTE: Please cut the thin thr ea d that
attaches the ball to the bus. The cut thread can be removed from the bottom of the bus. Discard the thread for your child’s safety.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 new ‘AA’ (UM-3/LR6) batteries follo w i n g t h e d i a gram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
BATTERY NOTICE
• The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.
• Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.
• Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged (if removable).

• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision (if removable).
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon­zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium).
• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
• Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
• Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy.
• The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
• The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
PRODUCT FEATURES
1. MODE SELECTOR
To turn the unit ON, slide the MODE SELECTOR to the Learning
( ) or Music ( ) Mode position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the MODE SELECTOR to the OFF ( ) position.

To convert the unit from a push toy to a pull toy, remove the pull cord from the battery compartment and thread it through the eyelet on the bottom of the bus. For your child’s safety, we suggest you store the pull cord in the compartment until your child is walking.
3. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the

ACTIVITIES
1. Press the dog driver button to hear talking phrases and fun sound effects in Learning Mode, and hear sing-along songs, talking phrases and fun sound effects in Music Mode. The dog driver can also sing the melodies if you press the dog driver button while a melody is playing. The light will flash with the sounds.
2. Drop the learn colors and animals in Learning Mode, and to hear animal sounds and melodies in Music Mode. The light will flash with the sounds.
3. Open and close the sound effects and phrases in Learning Mode, and hear sound effects and short tunes in Music Mode. The light will flash with the sounds.
4. Press the effects, talking phrases and questions about colors and animals in Learning Mode, and hear short tunes and songs in Music Mode. The light will flash with the sounds.
5. Pull the bus to hear fun sound effects, talking phrases songs and melodies in Learning Mode, and hear fun sound effects, songs and phrases in Music Mode. The light will flash with the sounds.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit
5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
