STEP 1 Install the telephone base and

chargers

Plug the connector into the power jack at the bottom

•
of the telephone base and chargers, then plug the
power adapter into an electrical outlet not controlled
by a wall switch.

Plug one end of the telephone line cord into the

•
telephone line jack at the bottom of the telephone
base. Then plug the other end of the cord into the
modular wall telephone outlet.

NOTE: Use only the power adapters (or equivalent)
supplied with your VTech telephone.

STEP 2 Install and charge the battery

• Remove battery compartment cover by pressing on
the indentation and sliding downwards (only for 6043
and 6053).

• Align the two holes in the plug with the socket pins
according to the color-coded label in the battery
compartment, then snap the plug into place.

• Place the battery into the compartment.

• Position the battery compartment cover and slide it
upwards until it clicks into place.

• Put the handset in the telephone base or the charger
to charge the new batter y for at least 16 hours. The
battery may have enough charge for short calls. For
best performance, charge it for at least 16 hours.

The CHARGE light on the telephone base or

charger will be on when the handset is properly
positioned. Refer to the Troubleshooting section
in the user’s manual if the CHARGE light is not on.

STEP 3 Make, receive and end calls

Make a call

• Press /FLASH or to ensure there is a dial

tone, then dial the telephone number.

-OR-

To predial (view number before dialing):

• Dial the number (press MUTE/REMOVE to make
corrections, or press and hold REDIAL/PAUSE to
insert a dialing pause).

Press /FLASH or to use the speakerphone.

Receive a call

• Press /FLASH, or any dialing keys (0-9, * or
#) to answer an incoming call.

End a call

• Press OFF/CLEAR or put the handset back in the
telephone base or charger.

STEP 4 Activate the answering system

The ANS ON/OFF must be on (the button light will
be on) in order for the machine to answer calls and
record messages. If the button light is off then calls
will not be answered.

To turn on/off the answering system, press
ANS ON/OFF to choose between on and off.

Use the volume control button on the telephone base
to adjust the volume at anytime during the setup
procedure.

STEP 5 Outgoing announcement

An outgoing announcement is the message callers hear
when calls are answered by the answering system.
The telephone is preset with an announcement that
answers calls with “Hello, please leave a message after
the tone.” You can use this default announcement, or
replace it with your own.

To record your own announcement:

•

Press ANNC while in idle mode, and the system says

“Announcement, press play or press announcement
again to record a new announcement.”

• Press ANNC again and the system announ ces

“Record after the tone, press STOP when you are
done.”

• After the tone, speak towards the microphone at the
bottom front of the telephone base from about nine
inches away.

• Press /PLAY/STOP when nished.

•

The answering system will automaticcally playback
the newly recorded announcement and there will be
a conrmation tone. Press /PLAY/STOP to stop the
playback at any time.

• If you do not like the announncement just recorded,
press ANNC to record again before the conrmation
tone.

The telephone base settings (ringer melody,
ringer volume, change remote access code,
clear voicemail and reset to default settings)
can be changed using the handset, please see
the user’s manual for complete instructions.

PASO 3 Cómo hacer, recibir y terminar

llamadas

Cómo hacer una llamada

• Oprima /FLASH o para escuchar el tono de

marcado, después marque el número de teléfono.

PASO 4 Cómo activar el sistema para contestar
llamadas

El botón de ANS ON/OFF debe estar encendido (la
luz del botón estará encendida) para que la máquina
pueda contestar llamadas y grabar mensajes. Si la
luz del botón está apagada, las llamadas no serán
contestadas.

Para encender/apagar el sistema para contestar
llamadas, oprima ANS ON/OFF para seleccionar
entre encendido y apagado. Use el botón de control
de volumen en la base del teléfono para ajustar
el volumen en cualqui e r moment o durant e el

procedimiento de conguración.

• E l s i s t e m a p a r a c o n t e s t ar l l a m a d as t o c ar á
automáticamente el anuncio recién grabado y emitirá
un tono de conrmación. Oprima /PLAY/STOP
para dejar de escuchar el mensaje en cualquier
momento.

• Si no le gusta el anuncio que acaba de grabar, oprima
ANNC para grabar otro antes de escuchar el tono

de conrmación.

NOTA:

Las configuraciones de la base del teléfono
(melodía del timbre, volumen del timbre, cambie el
código de acceso externo, cómo borrar el correo

de voz y regrese a las conguraciones de fábrica)

pueden ser cambiadas usando el auricular, por
favor consulte el manual de instrucciones para
ver las instrucciones completas.

PASO 2 Cómo instalar y cargar la pila

• Retire la cubierta del compartimiento de las pilas
oprimiendo sobre la ranura y deslizándola hacia
abajo.

• Alinee los dos oricios en el tomacorriente con las

terminales del enchufe de acuerdo con la etiqueta
con los códigos de colores en el compartimiento de
la pila, después conecte el enchufe en su sitio.

• Coloque la pila en el compartimiento.

• Coloque la cubierta del compartimiento de la pila en

su lugar y deslícela con rmeza hacia arriba hasta

que quede en su sitio.

• Coloque el auricular en la base del teléfono o en el
cargador para cargar la pila nueva durante por lo
menos 16 horas.

• La luz de CHARGE (carga) en la base del teléfono
o en el carg ador est ará encendi da cuand o el
auricular esté colocado apropiadamente. Consulte

Cómo recibir una llamada

• Oprima /FLASH o cualquier tecla de marcado
(0-9, * o #) para contestar una llamada entrante.

Cómo terminar una llamada

• Oprima OFF/CLEAR, o coloque de nuevo el auricular
en la base del teléfono o en el cargador.

PASO 5 Anuncio saliente

El anuncio saliente es el mensaje que las personas
que llaman escuc han cuando las llamada s son
contestadas por el sistema para contestar llamadas.
El teléfono está activado en la fábrica con un anuncio
que contesta las llamadas con “Hello, please leave
a message after the tone” (Hola. Por favor deje un
mensaje después del tono). Usted puede usar este
anuncio, o reemplazarlo con uno propio.

Para grabar su propio anuncio:

• Oprima ANNC mientras está en modo inactivo,

y el sistema dirá “Anno unc ement, pre ss play

or press announcement again to record a new
announcement ” (Anuncio, oprima PLAY u oprima

de nuevo ANNC para grabar un anuncio nuevo).

• Oprima de nuevo ANN C y el sistema anunc ia

“Record after the tone, press STOP when you are
done” (Grabe después del tono, oprima STOP
cuando termine).

• Después del tono, hable hacia el micrófono ubicado
en la parte de abajo del frente de la base del
teléfono desde una distancia de nueve pulgadas.

• Oprima /PLAY/STOP cuando haya terminado de
grabar.
