はじめに

レンズキャップ を 外し たまま で、昼 間に 製 品 を 放 置し ないでください 。望 遠 鏡やファインダー などのレン ズに より、火 災 発 生 の 原 因と なる 場 合 が ありま す。
移動中や歩行中に製品を使用しないでください。衝突や転倒など、ケガの原因となる場合があります。
キャップ、乾燥剤、包装用ポリ袋などを、お子様が誤って飲みこむことのないようにしてください。

● 炎 天下の自動車の中やヒーターなど高温の発熱体の前に製品を放置しないでください。

● 本体を清掃する際に、シンナーなど強い有機 溶 剤を 使 用し ない でください。

● 製 品に、雨 、水 滴 、泥、砂 などが かからな いようにしてください 。

● 保 管する際は直 射日光を避け、風 通しの良い乾燥した場所に保管してください。

● レンズにほこりやゴミがついた 場 合は、市販 のブロアーブラシなど で吹き飛ばしてください。

● レンズ表面は 手 で 触 れ な いようにしてください。指紋などでレンズが汚れた場合は、市販のブロアーブ ラシ な どで 大きなゴミを吹き飛ばした後、市販の

レンズクリーナーとレンズクリーニングペーパーを使い、軽く拭きとってください。レンズ表面は大変デリケートです。清掃の際はキズを付けないように
　 十 分ご注意ください 。

① 鏡 筒固定 ネジ、脱 落防止ネジをあらかじめ緩 めて おきます。

※ 先に 鏡 筒固定 ネジを締め 、次に 脱 落防止 ネジを締めてください。

② 次に、鏡 筒に あるプレートを図 のように当て て、ネジを締 めて 固定します。

◎ 天体望遠鏡の高倍率な状態でそのまま目標物を探すのは、とても難しいことです。
　 そこで、目標 物を簡 単 に 探 すため の 補 助 望 遠 鏡（ 装 置 ）が ファイン ダーで す。

◎ 天 体 観 測 の前に は 、必 ずファインダー 合 わ せ（ 調 整 ）をして おき ましょう。

①ファインダー 脚にあ る2本のファイ

ンダー 調 整ネジを 十分ゆ るめ てお

き ま す（ た だ し 、抜 け 落 ち な い 程 度

に と ど め て く だ さ い ）。

ファインダー脚 に付い てい る Oリング（ ゴム の輪 ）が 、ファインダーに あ

る溝（小）に収まっていることを確認してください。

② バ ネ を 図 の よ う に 持 ち 、引 っ 張 る よ

うにしながらファインダー を 通しま

す。引っ張ったバ ネ の先端 (内 側 )が

ファインダーの 溝（ 大）に 収まる位

置 で バ ネ を 引 くの を や め ま す。

③ ①でゆるめた調整ネジをしめて、

ファインダーが 図 のように中央にく

るようにして 完 了です。

④ あらか じめファインダー 脚 固 定ネジ

をゆ る めて おきます。

①目標物を天体望 遠鏡の視界の中心に導 入します。

※右の例の場合は、鉄 塔の先端を天 体望遠鏡の視界 の中心に導入しています。

② 次に ファインダー を の ぞき ます。ファイン ダー の 視 界にも 、天 体 望 遠 鏡の 視 界 に 見

え て い る も の（ 右 の 例 の 場 合 は 鉄 塔 ）が 、ど こ か に 見 え る は ず で す 。

※ファイン ダーに は 十字 線 が入っています。

※十字線は、図とは異なり、ななめになることもあります。

③ 天 体 望 遠 鏡 本 体 の 視 界とファインダー の 視 界 を 一 致させます。

　 ファインダーに 付い てい る 二つ の 調 整ネジをし め たりゆる めたりして、目 標 物

を 十 字 線 の中 央 に 合 わ せ ましょう。

※右の 例 の 場 合 は 、鉄 塔 の 先 端 をファインダーの 十 字 線 の 中央に 合 わせて いま す。

⑤ 図の ようにセットしてください。

定してく ださい。

● ピ ント の 合 わ せ 方

※ m m 数の小 さい 接 眼レンズ（ ＝倍率が高いレンズ ）を 使 用しますと

見 え る 像 が 暗 く 、ピ ン ト の 合 う 範 囲 が 狭 い の で 見 づ ら く な り ま す 。

※観測のはじめは、必ずmm数の大きな接眼レンズ（＝倍率が低いレ

ン ズ ）を 使 用 し て く だ さ い 。

※ 望 遠 鏡 の 倍 率 は 対 物レン ズ／主 鏡 の 焦 点 距 離を接 眼 レンズ の 焦 点

距離で割った数値です。

※接眼レンズ（別売）を取付けないと像が見えません。また、天体望

遠鏡の倍率は接眼レンズよって決まります。（右記参照 ）

※架 台とセット品をお買い求めの場合 は、31. 7m m 径の接眼レンズが

付 属して いる場 合がありま す。

※接眼レンズを取付けて地上景色(200m以上遠く)をのぞいてみ

ましょう。

※初め はピント が合って い な い 状 態 で す か ら 、図 の よ う に 合 焦 ハ ン

ド ル（ フ ォ ー カ ス ノ ブ ）をゆっくり回し て景 色 が は っきり見 える と
ころ を 探します。

鏡筒の仕様

この 鏡 筒 は 合 焦 機 構に 摩 擦 力 を 利用した クレイフォ ード式 を採 用してい ます。ご 使 用に あ たり、次のことに ご 注 意ください 。

① ドロチューブが スリップする 場 合は 、まさつ調整 ネジを 締めてください。

② まさつ調整ネジを強く締めた状態でも軽い力で合焦ハンドルを操作 することができます。

③ 保管の際、ドロチューブは一番短い状 態に縮めてください。

④ 保 管の際 、合 焦ハンドル、ドロチューブに負担をか けないでください。ドロチューブにキズがはいることがあります。

⑤ 絶 対 に 注 油 し な い で く だ さ い 。故 障 す る こ と が あ り ま す 。

仕様は改良のため、予告なく変更する場合がございます。

PREFACE

Do not leave the optical tube uncapped in the daytime. Sunlight passing through the telescope or finder scope may cause a fire.

Do not use the product while moving or walking, injuries could result from a collision with objects or from stumbling or falling.

Keep small caps, plastic bags, or plastic packing materials away from children. These may cause a danger of swallowing or suffocation.

Do not use the product in a wet environment and do not handle with wet hands.

Do not leave the product inside a car in bright sunshine, or in other hot places. Keep any strong heat sources away from the product.

When cleaning, do not use solvents such as paint thinner or similar products.

Do not expose the product to rain, water, dirt or sand.

Avoid touching any lens or mirror surfaces directly with your hands. In case a lens or mirror becomes dirty with fingerprints or general

smears, gently wipe it using a commercially available lens cleaner and a lens cleaning paper or cloth, or consult your local Vixen dealer.

Blow off dust on lenses using a commercially available blower brush. Do not use compressed air.

For storage, keep the product in a dry place and do not expose to direct sunlight.

WARNING!

Never look directly at the sun with the telescope or its finder or guide scope.
Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.

This manual applies to ED80Sf telescopes. You may occasionally find descriptions in the text not relevant to your particular model.

Read instructions for your mount along with this manual if you purchased the telescope as a complete package.

Necessity of the Finder Scope

1. Loosen both the dovetail plate lock screw and safety screw

until the tips of these screws no longer extended into the

inner part of the dovetail block.

2. Slide the dovetail mounted scope into the dovetail mounting block

as shown in the figure. Tighten the dovetail lock screw (centered

on the notch) onto the dovetail tube plate until snug.

First tighten the dovetail lock screw, and then tighten the small chrome safety screw onto the dovetail mounting block until snug.

For the novice telescope user it is difficult to locate a selected object in the field of view at high magnification.

Using a finder scope will make this easier.

Be sure to align the finder scope with the telescope before you start observing.

Attaching the Finder Scope

HOW TO ALIGN THE FINDER SCOPE

OPTIONAL ACCESSORY CHART

1.Back out the adjustment screw
on the finder bracket to allow
passage of the finder scope.
(Make sure the adjustment
screws do not fall off the
bracket.)

2.Pull up the spring-loaded stud
on the bracket ring and pull it
so that the finder tube slides
into the bracket ring from its
eyepiece end.

Release the spring-loaded

stud at the position that the
wide groove on the finder tube
is underneath the stud.

3.Tighten the two adjustment
screws so that the finder
scope is aligned as shown in
the figure.

4.Loosen the finder bracket
lock thumbscrew on the
telescope.

5.Attach the finder bracket as
shown in the figure, tighten
the finder bracket lock
thumbscrew securely.

Side the rubber O-ring onto the eyepiece end of the finder.
There are two grooves on the finder tube. Position the O-ring
on the narrow groove at the middle of the finder tube.

Be sure to align the finder scope with the telescope before you start obs erving.

1. Choose a conspicuous target in the distance and place the target
in the center of the field of view of the telescope. (In the
illustration, a distant tower is brought into the center of the field of
view of the telescope.)

2. Next, look through the finder scope. You should probably find the

same target somewhere within the finder’s field of view. (The

finder scope has crosshairs.)

3. Align the optical axis (field of view) of the finder scope with the
optical axis (field of view) of the telescope. Adjust the finder
scope by loosening or tightening the adjustment screws A and B
until the target is in the same position, in the center of the
crosshairs. (In the illustration, the top of the tower is in the center
of the crosshairs.)

The telescope does not come with the eyepiece as standard

accessory unless you purchased a package.

Magnification of the TelescopeVisual Configuration

Focusing the Telescope

When using an eyepiece with shor t focal length (small

number in millimeters), the image will be dim and the range

of sharp focus will be small.

The image will be harder to see so begin with an eyepiece

with long focal length (low magnification).

Dividing the focal length of the telescope by the focal length

of the eyepiece gives the magnification.

Look into the eyepiece. The image will likely be out of

focus at first. Turn the focus knob slowly clockwise or

counterclockwise to find a point where the image in the

field of view of the eyepiece becomes sharpest.

The ED80Sf telescope has the Crayford focuser which uses friction for the focusing mechanism.

Follow these instructions for its use.

Tighten the tension adjustment screw if the draw tube is loose.

Even with the tension knob fully tightened, it is possible, though not recommended, to rotate the focus knobs.

Drawing in the draw tube completely when you store the telescope.

Never apply the lubricant to the focuser.
