Die PA 115 H ist eine kompakte Bassreflexbox
mit hervorragendem Preis-LeistungsVerhältnis. Sie ist bestückt mit dem 38-cm(15“)-Tieftöner PAW 38 und dem MittelHochtonhorn HTH 8.7. Der PAW 38 hat
die besondere Eigenschaft, ohne Tiefpass
einen Abfall des Frequenzverlaufs ab 2 kHz
um ca. 25 dB zu erzeugen. Dadurch sind
in der Frequenzweiche keine Bauteile im
Tieftonzweig nötig, welche sich ungünstig auf
die Nennbelastbarkeit und Wirkungsgrad aus
wirken würden. Es wurde eine Trennfrequenz
von 3000 Hz gewählt – ein Wert, den beide
Lautsprecher sehr gut meistern.
Die Nennbelastbarkeit der Box beträgt 250 W.
Dieser Wert wurde normgerecht mit einem
permanenten Rauschsignal ermittelt.
Allerdings ist das Ergebnis wenig praxis
gerecht, da die Musik aus vielen Impulsen
besteht. Der Effektivwert, der etwas über die
Erwärmung der Schwingspule aussagt, ist bei
einem Musiksignal wesentlich geringer. Die
praktische Belastbarkeit der Lautsprecherbox
ist damit wesentlich höher. Wir haben die
PA 115 H mit einer Profi-Endstufe bis zur
Clippinggrenze erfolgreich getestet, so dass
wir als Musikbelastbarkeit 500 Watt angeben können. Mit dieser Leistung werden
Spitzenpegel von 120 dB in einem Meter
Abstand erreicht.
Characteristics and sound properties
The PA 115 H is a compact bass reflex speaker which is outstanding value-for-money. It is
fitted with the 38-cm (15“) PAW 38 woofer and
the mid-to-high-range horn, HTH 8.7. A special feature of the PAW 38 is that it can generate a drop in frequency response from 2 kHz
by around 25 dB without a low-pass filter. As
a result, no components are required in the
bass section of the crossover, as these would
have an unfavourable effect on peak power
-
handling and sensitivity. We decided on a separating frequency of 3000 Hz - a level both
speaker drivers can cope with effortlessly.
The peak power handling of the speaker is
250 W. This value was determined in line with
the standards using a continuous noise signal. This value is, however, far removed from

practice, since music consists of many different impulses and surges. The effective value,
that also tells us something about the heating-up of the voice coil, is much lower with
music. This means the effective power-handling capabilities of the loud speaker are, in
fact, much higher. We have successfully tested the PA 115 H with a professional amplifier
up to the clipping limit, which means we can
safely give the music power handling as 500
watts. This output produces a peak level of
120 dB at one metre distance.

Aufbau
Building instructions
Für den häufigen Transport ist es vorteilhaft,
für das Gehäuse Multiplex mit einer Stärke
von nur 16 mm zu verwenden. Dadurch wird
das Gehäuse sehr leicht, und es steckt auch
heftige Stöße problemlos weg. Als Oberfläche
bietet sich Strukturlack an. In der Zeichnung
wurde die Anschlussdose ST 77 vorgesehen.
Professioneller sind jedoch Speakon-Buchsen. Selbstverständlich sind Tragegriffe in
den Seitenwänden bei häufigen Transporten
unverzichtbar, wie auch am Boden ein Flansch
zur Aufnahme eines Stativs. Die Schallwand
ist 40 mm zurückversetzt, um die Lautsprecher zu schützen. Zusätzlich kann der Tieftöner noch mit einem Gitter versehen werden
(das Zubehör ist im Musiker- oder Versandhandel erhältlich).
Bedämpfung
Zur Bedämpfung werden vier Matten des
Dämpfungsmaterials locker im Gehäuse
verteilt. Die Öffnung um den Bassreflexkanal
sollte freigehalten werden.
Inner damping
The inner damping of the speaker uses four
mats of damping material loosely placed
inside the cabinet, but without interfering
with the bass reflex tube.
If the speakers are likely to be transported
frequently, it is advisable to make the cabinets out of multilayer board with a thickness
of just 16 mm. This will keep the speakers
very light and yet sturdy in case they are
knocked in use. The ideal surface finish is a
texture paint. The drawing shows terminal
block ST 77. However, Speakon connectors are more professional. As one would
expect, carrying handles in the side walls
are an essential aid if the cabinets are frequently transported, as is the flange in the
base for attaching to a stand. The acoustic
baffle is moved 40 mm back, in order to protect the driver. Additionally, a grille can also
be fitted to the subwoofer (this and other
accessories mentioned are all available in
musician‘s shops or online).
