Subject : Stiff base on first time unfolding, for some new LCD models
Copy locally to : Customer Support staff Priority : Medium
ViewSonic Models :
VG150m/mb , VE155 , VE175 , VE500 , VE700 and VG170m .
Situation :
The base on the above models is shipped attached to the LCD , but folded parallel to the screen.
This is to achieve high packing density, also to allow ease of wall mounting.
When unpacking for the first time, customers face difficulty in rotating the base to the normal horizontal
position , as it appears very stiff.
Corrective Action :
Actually these monitors are designed to have a stiff base movement in the packed position.
The best way to set up the base the first time out of the box is to press the monitor face down on a soft
surface on the edge of a desk with one hand, grip the back of the base firmly with the other hand and rotate
the base until it is at 90 deg. to the screen. You have to pull with reasonable pressure.
When you place the screen upright and at normal angle, you will find the stand has 20 deg. of back /
foreward movement with the normal low degree of resistance.
A leaflet to the above effect is planned for inclusion in the carton of the above monitors.
Note there is a 'LOCK' on the rear of the rear body of the LCD but this is nothing to do with the base.
It is actually a 'Kensington Lock' standard slot for use in conjunction with a 3rd party security tether.
