This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and
convenience. A 13 amp fuse is fitted in this plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced,
ensure that the replacement fuse has a rating of 13 amps and that it is approved by
ASTA or BSI to BS1362. Check for the ASTA mark

or the BSI mark

on the body

of the fuse.

If the plug contains a removable fuse cover, you must ensure that it is refitted when the
fuse is replaced. If you lose the fuse cover, the plug must not be used until a
replacement cover is obtained. A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your
local ViewSonic dealer.

IF THE FITTED MOULDED PLUG IS UNSUITABLE FOR THE SOCKET OUTLET IN
YOUR HOME, THEN THE FUSE SHOULD BE REMOVED AND THE PLUG CUT OFF
AND DISPOSED OF SAFELY. THERE IS A DANGER OF SEVERE ELECTRICAL
SHOCK IF THE CUT OFF PLUG IS INSERTED INTO ANY 13 AMP SOCKET.

If a new plug is to be fitted, please observe the wiring code as shown below. If in any
doubt, please consult a qualified electrician.

The colours of the wires in the main leads of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug. Please comply with the following instructions:

● The Green-Yellow wire must be connected to the Green or Green-Yellow terminals in
the plug marked with the letter E or with the ground symbol.

● The Blue wire must be connected to the Black
terminal in the plug marked with the letter N.

● The Brown wire must be connected to the Red
terminal in the plug marked with the letter L.

compartment with a screwdriver.

Getting Started

Congratulations on your purchase of a ViewSonic MB110 multimedia
monitor. Important! Save the original box and all packing material for future
shipping needs.

NOTE: This product was designed for operation in the magnetic fields of the
geographical hemisphere where purchased. Also, the word "Windows®" in
this user guide refers to the following Microsoft® operating systems:
Windows '95, Windows '95 OSR2, and Windows '98.

• For the best viewing conditions, sit at least 18" from the monitor.

• AVOID TOUCHING THE SCREEN WITH YOUR FINGERS. Oils
from the skin are difficult to remove.

• NEVER REMOVE THE REAR COVER. The monitor contains high­voltage parts. You may suffer serious injury if you touch these parts.

• Avoid exposing the monitor to direct sunlight or another heat source.
The monitor should be facing away from direct sunlight to reduce glare.

• Choose a well ventilated area to position your monitor. Do not place
anything on the monitor that prevents adequate dissipation of heat.

• Ensure the area around the monitor is clean and free of moisture.

• Keep the monitor away from magnets, motors, transformers, speakers,
and televisions.

• Do not place heavy objects on the monitor, video cable, or power cord.

• If smoke, abnormal noise, or strange odor is present, immediately
switch the monitor off and call your dealer or ViewSonic®. It is
dangerous to continue using the monitor.

• Always handle your monitor with care when moving it.

Precautions

* USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a peripheral bus standard that allows computer peripherals to be

automatically configured when they are attached to a computer without rebooting or running Setup.
USB also permits multiple devices to run simultaneously, with peripherals such as monitors and
keyboards acting as additional hubs (plug-in sites).

Quick Installation

1 Write the serial number on the back of the monitor in the space

provided on page 1 labeled "For your records" and register your
monitor's warranty on the Internet at: http//:www.viewsonic.com.

2 Read the Precautions section thoroughly (page 5) before installing the

monitor. Make sure the computer and the monitor are both turned off
before connecting any cables.

3a PC users: Attach the video cable to the Video Input port on the monitor

(see below), then connect the other end to your computer.

3b Macintosh® users: A Macintosh computer requires a ViewSonic

®

Macintosh adapter (part No. VMA-1). To order an adapter, contact
ViewSonic Customer Support (see back cover of this guide).

4 Plug the monitor's DC OUT and Base OUT connectors (on the cable

attached to the back of the monitor) into the DC IN and BASE IN ports
located on the monitor base.

5 Audio Installation

1) Plug the audio cable into the monitor's AUDIO IN port, then into the

LINE OUT port of your computer's sound card.

USB* OnView® Host Software Installation

For Windows

®

'98 & Windows '95 OSR 2.1

If either Windows 98 or Windows 95 OSR 2.1 operating system is installed in
your computer, you can attach USB peripheral devices (mouse, keyboard,
etc.) to the monitor. You also have the option of adjusting the audio and
screen image by using the ViewSonic® USB OnView Host software. (See Step
2 below.) To complete the USB installation, do the following:

1 Follow Quick Installation steps 1-8 listed above.
2 Install the ViewSonic USB OnView Host software and USB Driver

software by following the instructions on the Readme file located on the
installation diskette.

3 Plug the upstream (square) connector of the USB cable into the USB

INPUT port on the base of the monitor. Then plug the downstream
(rectangular) connector into a downstream USB INPUT port on your
computer.

4 Plug your choice of USB peripheral devices (mouse, keyboard, scanner,

etc.) into any downstream (rectangular) ports on the monitor (two on the
back and two on the side.)

2) To connect the monitor's built-in microphone to your computer, plug

the microphone cable into the monitor's MIC OUT port, then to the
MIC IN port of your computer's sound card.

PC users: From the Windows® Progams menu, access MICROPHONE
BALANCE (Accessories/Multimedia/Volume Control). To prevent sound
distortion, set the MICROPHONE BALANCE to MUTE. If the microphone
volume is not loud enough, increase the MICROPHONE VOLUME on the
Windows® Volume Control screen or on the monitor's OnView® display.

Macintosh® users: For Macintosh systems equipped with PlainTalk™,
set MIC VOLUME to 85 on the monitor's OnView display.

3) (Optional) To connect an external microphone and/or headphones, use

the ports on the side of the monitor (see bottom of page 6).

6 Attach the power cord to the back of the monitor. Then plug the other end

of the power cord into the power source (wall socket).

7 Turn the computer on. Then press the POWER button on the front of the

monitor ON. (The Power light turns green.)

8 Adjust the user controls to suit your personal preference. See the

Operation section (page 8). If there are any problems, see the
Troubleshooting section (page 15). For information on screen resolution,

see Preset Modes (page 14) and your graphics card's user guide.

Basic installation is complete! Enjoy your new monitor!

DISCLAIMER Functionality differs with each monitor and computer set-up. ViewSonic® USB
OnView

Host software complies with the current USB specification. Certain computers, video

cards, and versions of Windows ’95 may not be compatible with USB functions. Macintosh

®

operating systems are not compatible with USB functions.

OnView Main Menu, Part 1

NOTE: Press [2] to toggle between all controls that appear on the Main
Menu in pairs (for example, Contrast/Brightness).

CONTRAST adjusts foreground white level of screen image.
Press [▼] or [▲] to adjust.

Shortcut: Before displaying the Main Menu, press [▼] or [▲] to
display the Contrast control screen.

BRIGHTNESS adjusts background black level of screen image.
Press [▼] or [▲] to adjust.

H. SIZE (Horizontal Size) adjusts width of screen image.
[▼] decreases width, [▲] increases width.

H. POSITION (Horizontal Position) moves screen image left or right.
[▼] moves screen image left, [▲] moves screen image right.

V. SIZE (Vertical Size) adjusts height of screen image.
[▼] decreases height, [▲] increases height.

V. POSITION (Vertical Position) moves screen image up and down.
[▼] moves screen down, [▲] moves screen up.

TRAPEZOID makes vertical edges of screen image parallel.
[▼] narrows top and widens bottom, [▲] widens top and narrows bottom.

PARALLELOGRAM slants vertical edges of screen image to left or
right. [▼] slants vertical edges to left, [▲] slants vertical edges to right.

PINCUSHION straightens vertical sides of screen image.
[▼] curves vertical edges inward, [▲] curves vertical edges outward.

PIN-BALANCE curves the screen's vertical edges to the left or right.
[▼] curves vertical edges to left, [▲] curves vertical edges to right.

To exit the OnView® menu & save changes, press button [1].

OnView Main Menu, Part 2

TILT rotates entire screen image.

[▼] rotates screen image counter-clockwise. [▲] rotates screen image
clockwise.

MOIRE reduces interference that causes unwanted color textures or
patterns. NOTE: Only use Moire if you see ripples or waves when
viewing images having closely spaced lines or finely detailed patterns.
To return to factory settings use Memory Recall (see page 11).

Press [▼] or [▲] to adjust.

OSD POSITION gives you two options: H. OSD (Horizontal On
Screen Display) Position and V. (Vertical) OSD Position.

H. OSD POSITION Press [▼] or [▲] to move the OSD left or right.
V. OSD POSITION Press [▼] or [▲] to move the OSD up or down.

VIEWMETER® displays the frequency signal input (horizontal scan

and refresh rate) coming from the graphics card in your computer. See
your graphics card's user guide for more details.

INPUT SELECT toggles between D-Sub and BNC video sources,
giving you the option of switching between two monitors (see page 6).

Use [▼] or [▲] to select "INPUT SELECT" and press button [2].

AUDIO MENU Press [▼] or [▲] to select Bass/Treble controls,
Audio (Speakers)/Mic (microphone) volume controls.

1 Press [2] to display the adjustment screen for the selected option.
2 Press [2] again to select an audio control.

3 Press [▼] or [▲] adjust the selected audio control.

NOTE: ViewSonic recommends that you set 3D DYNAMIC SOUND
"ON" for games and applications designed for surround sound.

VIEWMATCH® COLOR provides four color adjustment options:
three preset color temperatures and USER COLOR which allows
you to adjust the red, green, and blue individually. NOTE: The
factory setting for the monitor is 9300K, the color temperature
most frequently used in offices with fluorescent lights.

Troubleshooting

No power

• Press Power button (or flip power switch) ON.

• Make sure A/C power cord is securely connected to back of monitor and
to a power outlet.

• Plug another electrical device (like a radio) into power outlet to verify that
outlet is supplying proper voltage.

Power on but no screen image

• Make sure video cable supplied with monitor is tightly secured to video
output port on back of computer. If other end of video cable is not
attached permanently to monitor, tightly secure it to monitor.

• Adjust brightness and contrast.

• Check this user's guide to see if an adapter is required for proper signal
continuity between graphics card and monitor.

Flickering

• Not enough power supplied. Connect monitor to different outlet. If using
surge protector, reduce number of devices plugged in.

• Check ViewMeter

®

to verify refresh rate (vertical frequency) is 75 Hz or

higher. See Specifications on page 12.

• Make sure graphics card in your computer can use non-interlaced mode
at desired frequencies. To enable your graphics card to support higher
refresh rates, try selecting fewer colors or running lower resolutions.

• Remove any devices from area around monitor that emit magnetic fields
such as radios, surge protectors, unshielded speakers, fluorescent lights,
AC power converters, desk fans, etc.

Wrong or abnormal colors

• If any colors (red, green, or blue) are missing, check video cable to make

sure it is securely connected. Loose or broken pins in the cable connector
could cause a bad connection.

• Connect monitor to another computer.

• Turn monitor OFF, wait one minute, then turn ON again.

Do this only once.

• If you have an older graphics card, contact ViewSonic® Customer Support

for a non-DDC adapter.

Entire screen image scrolls (rolls) vertically

• Make sure video input signals are within monitor's specified frequency
range.

• Try monitor with another power source, graphics card, or computer
system.

• Connect video cable securely.

Control buttons do not work

• Press only one button at a time.

Cleaning the Monitor

• MAKE SURE THE MONITOR IS TURNED OFF.

• NEVER SPRAY OR POUR ANY LIQUID DIRECTLY ONTO THE
SCREEN OR CASE.

To clean the screen

1 Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust

and other particles.

2 If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol

based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the
screen.

To clean the case

1 Use a soft, dry cloth.

2 If still not clean, apply a small amount of a non-ammonia, non-alcohol

based, mild non-abrasive detergent onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth,
then wipe the surface.

DISCLAIMER

ViewSonic does not recommend the use of any ammonia or alcohol-based cleaners
on the monitor screen or case. Some chemical cleaners have been reported to
damage the screen and/or case of the monitor. ViewSonic will not be liable for

What the warranty covers:

warrants its products to be free from defects in material and workmanship during the

warranty period. If a product proves to be defective in material or workmanship during the warranty
period, ViewSonic will at its sole option repair or replace the product with a like product. Replacement
product or parts may include remanufactured or refurbished parts or components.

How long the warranty is effective:

parts and three (3) years for all labor from the date of the first consumer purchase.

Who the warranty protects:

This warranty is valid only for the first consumer purchaser.

What the warranty does not cover:

1. Any product on which the serial number has been defaced, modified or removed.

2. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from:
a. Accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, unauthorized product

modification, or failure to follow instructions supplied with the product.
b. Repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by ViewSonic.
c. Any damage of the product due to shipment.
d. Removal or installation of the product.
e. Causes external to the product, such as electric power fluctuations or failure.
f. Use of supplies or parts not meeting ViewSonic’s specifications.
g. Normal wear and tear.
h. Any other cause which does not relate to a product defect.
