There are cases in which powder will adhere to the cartridge and lm during the manufacturing and packing process. This is not a defect. This is lter media used to clean the water. Rinse this powder off with tap water before usage.
In some cases, small amounts of lter media may enter the funnel during usage – this will not affect the ltered water in any way.

Using Filtered Water
Store pitcher in the refrigerator at all times once water has passed through the lter cartridge. Do not store ltered water at room temperature for long periods of time. Filtered water may be stored in the refrigerator for future consumption but should not be stored longer than 48 hours.
STOP using pitcher immediately in the event it becomes damaged.
Do not use until all of the water in the funnel has been ltered. Failure to do so may result in ltered water mixing with unltered water.
Do not use with water that contains high quantities of impurities.
Never place anything other than tap water, such as tea bags, juice or milk inside the pitcher.
Do not use water with a temperature higher than 95°F (35°C) or lower than 33°F (1°C) through the lter. This system should only be used with cool or room temperature water.
Do not cover the air hole in the lter cartridge as this may result in extended ltering times.
Do not use ltered water for sh or other marine life.
Avoiding Damage to Pitcher
Do not heat.
• Failure to observe this may result in damage to the insulating material, etc.
• Never place the pitcher inside a microwave or any other type of oven.

• Washing/drying in automatic dishwasher/dryer could result in malformation or discoloration of pitcher or damage and deterioration of water ltering performance.
Do not place or store pitcher in locations subject to high temperatures including: direct sunlight, parked cars, etc.
• Failure to observe this may result in damage to the insulating material and deterioration of ltering performance and reduced lifespan.
Do not place pitcher in freezer.
