1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union
Important environmental information about this product

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of
the device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not
dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it
should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device
should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling
service. Respect the local environmental rules.

If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

bringing this device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, don't
install or use it and contact your dealer.

This money detector uses UV light to detect counterfeit bank notes.
A counterfeit bank note will glow blue.
This money detector is very useful and indispensable in every store and will
allow you to verify the authenticity of bank notes, cheques, holograms on
credit cards and the fluorescent markings on the latest luncheon vouchers.
Comes with one (ZLUV220) or two (ZLUV220/2) UV lamps.

2. Safety Instructions

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages
of this manual.

Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain, moisture,
splashing and dripping liquids. Never put objects filled with liquids
on top of or close to the device.

If the power cord of this device is damaged, it shall be exclusively
replaced by the manufacturer, service agent or a similar qualified
person in order to avoid hazard.

Caution: possibly hazardous optical radiation emitted from this
product. Do not look at operating lamp. Eye injury may result.

Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using

it.

All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage

caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the
warranty.

Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an

unauthorised way will void the warranty.

Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not

covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for
any ensuing defects or problems.

Keep this manual for future reference.

3. Operation

Switch on the money detector.

Bank notes with UV-sensitive markings:

Place the bank note under the UV light of the detector. The UV-sensitive
markings will appear.

Bank notes with non UV-sensitive markings:

Place the bank note under the UV light of the detector. No UV-sensitive

marking will appear and the bank note’s texture will not change. No

watermark will be visible.

The holographic indicia will be visible on the front of the bank note but

not on the back.

Most counterfeit bank notes:

Place the bank note under the UV light of the detector. The counterfeit

bank note will immediately glow blue. The watermark will not be visible,
unlike the holographic indicia which will be highly visible, both on the
front and on the back of the bank note.

All counterfeit bank notes are fluorescent. If in doubt, verify the

watermark: it must be very clear with well-defined colours. A bank note
which is not too used must feel crisp and be slightly rough on the prints.
The bank note must not be limp, shiny or waxy.

Attention: This money detector has a black plastic housing and features
one (ZLUV220) or two (ZLUV220/2) blue UV lamps. Do not place the
detector at eyes height to prevent eye damage.
Each lamp has a lifetime of 2,000 to 4,000 hours.

4. Replacing a UV lamp

1. Disconnect the detector from the mains.

2. Unscrew the screws holding the lamp support.

3. Twist the lamp slightly and carefully in order to dislodge the lamp.

4. Replace the lamp with an exact type of lamp.

5. Insert the new lamp. Carefully turn the lamp to click in place.

6. Reinstall the support and fix with the screws.

GEBRUIKERSHANDLEIDING

1. Inleiding

Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het
na zijn levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan
toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele
batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij
een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet
dit toestel naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt

brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.

Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten
betreffende de verwijdering.

Dank u voor uw aankoop! Lees deze handleiding grondig voor u het toestel
in gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het transport,
installeer het dan niet en raadpleeg uw dealer.

Deze detector gebruikt ultraviolet licht om de echtheid van bankbiljetten te
controleren. Een vals bankbiljet zal blauw oplichten.
Zeer handig en onontbeerlijk in elke winkel, deze detector helpt u bij het
controleren van bankbiljetten, cheques, de hologrammen op kredietkaarten
en de fluorescerende veiligheidsmerken op de nieuwe maaltijdcheques.
Geleverd met 1 (ZLUV220) of 2 (ZLUV220/2) uv-lampen.

2. Veiligheidsinstructies

Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze
handleiding.

Gebruik het toestel enkel binnenshuis. Bescherm het toestel
tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende vloeistoffen. Plaats geen
objecten gevuld met vloeistof op of naast het toestel.

Laat een beschadigde voedingskabel enkel vervangen door de
fabrikant, een erkende dealer of geschoold technicus om
elektroshocks te vermijden.

Opgelet: mogelijk gevaarlijke optische straling uitgezonden door
dit product. Kijk nooit rechtstreeks in de lichtbron. Dit kan leiden
tot oogletsels.

Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.
Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het

toestel. Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan
het toestel valt niet onder de garantie.

Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. Bij onoordeelkundig

gebruik vervalt de garantie.

De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde

richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid
afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.

Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

3. Gebruik

Schakel de detector in met de aan-uitschakelaar.

Bankbiljetten met fluorescerende merken:

Plaats het biljet onder het uv-licht. De fluorescerende merken verschijnen
duidelijk.

Bankbiljetten zonder fluorescerende merken:

Plaats het biljet onder het uv-licht. Er zijn geen fluorescerende merken

zichtbaar en de textuur van het biljet blijft ongewijzigd. Er verschijnt ook
geen enkel watermerk.

De hologrammen verschijnen op de voorkant van het biljet maar niet op

de achterkant.

De meeste valse bankbiljetten:

Plaats het biljet onder het uv-licht. Een vals bankbiljet licht onmiddellijk

helder blauw op. Het watermerk is niet zichtbaar. De hologrammen echter
zijn heel duidelijk zichtbaar, zowel op de voorkant als op de achterkant
van het biljet.

Alle valse bankbiljetten zijn fluorescerend. Bij twijfel controleert u best

het watermerk: de opdruk moet heel netjes zijn met duidelijke kleuren.
Een niet al te versleten biljet knispert bij het wrijven en heeft een lichtjes
ruwe opdruk. Het biljet mag in geen geval slap, glanzend of wasachtig
zijn.

Opgelet: De behuizing van deze detector is vervaardigd uit zwart plastic.
De detector zelf is uitgerust met 1 (ZLUV220) of 2 (ZLUV220/2) blauwe uv­lampen. Plaats de detector niet op ooghoogte om beschadiging aan het oog
te vermijden.
De levensduur van een lamp bedraagt 2.000 à 4.000 uren.

4. De lamp vervangen

1. Ontkoppel de detector van het lichtnet.

2. Maak de schroeven los en verwijder de beugel.

3. Draai voorzichtig de lamp los.

4. Vervang de lamp door een identiek exemplaar.

5. Plaats de nieuwe lamp, draai voorzichtig en klik vast.

6. Plaats de beugel en maak vast met de schroeven.
