activities are performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only.

2. Safety Instructions
This device falls under protection class I. It is therefore essential that the device be earthed. Have a
qualified person carry out the electric connection.
Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed the voltage stated in the specifications of this manual.
Do not crimp the power cord and protect it against damage. Have an authorised dealer replace it if
necessary.
Use an appropriate safety cable to fix the device (e.g. VDLSC7N or VDLSC8N).
Install the device at a minimal distance of 0.5 m from flammable and explosive objects or substances.
Keep the device at least 15 cm (6") away from ceilings or walls.
The maximum ambient temperature is 40 °C. Do not operate the device at higher temperatures.

Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it. Do not allow operation by
unqualified people. Any damage that may occur will most probably be due to unprofessional use of the
device.
All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to
the device is not covered by the warranty.
Only use the device for its intended purpose. All other uses may lead to short circuits, burns, electroshocks,
lamp explosion, crash, etc. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the
dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
Mechanical wear and LEDs are not covered by warranty.
A qualified technician should install and service this device.
Do not switch the device on immediately after it has been exposed to changes in temperature. Protect the
device against damage by leaving it switched off until it has reached room temperature.
This device is designed for professional use on stage, in discos, theatres, etc. The device should only be
used indoors with an alternating current of 230 VAC, 50 Hz.
Lighting effects are not designed for permanent operation: regular operation breaks will prolong their lives.
Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.
Keep this manual for future reference.

6. Installation
Choose a suitable mounting spot. Mount the device in the desired angle using the included bracket. Connect the
power cord to the mains. Disconnect after use.
Mounting the Device
Have the device installed by a qualified person, respecting EN 60598-2-17 and all other applicable norms.
The carrying construction must be able to support 10 times the weight of the device for 1 hour without
deforming.
The installation must always be secured with a secondary attachment e.g. a safety cable.
Never stand directly below the device when it is being mounted, removed or serviced. Have a qualified
technician check the device once a year and once before you bring it into service.
Install the device in a location with few passers-by that is inaccessible to unauthorised persons.
Overhead mounting requires extensive experience: calculating workload limits, determining the installation
material to be used… Have the material and the device itself checked regularly. Do not attempt to install
the device yourself if you lack these qualifications as improper installation may result in injuries.
For truss mounting, use an appropriate clamp (not incl.) and fit an M10 bolt through the centre of the
(folded) bracket.
Adjust the desired inclination angle via the mounting bracket and tighten the bracket screws.
Make sure there is no flammable material within a 0.5 m radius of the device.
Have a qualified electrician carry out the electric connection.
Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. All devices must be powered directly off a grounded
switched circuit and cannot be run off a rheostat or dimmer circuit, even if the rheostat or dimmer channel
is used solely for 0 % to 100 % switching.
The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.

DMX-512 Connection
When applicable, connect an XLR cable to the female XLR output of a controller (not incl.) and the other
side to the male XLR input [2] of the device. Multiple devices can be linked through serial linking. The
linking cable should be a dual core, screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
Maximum recommended serial data link distance is 500 meters (1640 ft). Maximum recommended number
of devices on a serial data link is 32 devices.
A DMX terminator is recommended for installations where the DMX cable has to run a long distance or is in
an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator prevents corruption of the digital control
signal by electrical noise. The DMX terminator is simply an XLR plug with a 120 Ω resistor between pins 2
and 3, which is then plugged into the XLR output socket [3] of the last device in the chain.
7. Operation
The device can be used in the following modes:
stand-alone mode: automatic or sound-activated
master/slave
with a DMX512 controller.
7.1 Control Panel Navigation
At start-up, the touch control panel shows the main menu, which consists of 6 menu options. Touch one of the
menu options to enter.
Once you enter a menu, four buttons appear at the right-hand side of the display. From top to bottom:
7.2 General Setup
Display Settings
You can choose to switch the display off or use a screen saver after a period of inactivity, and to rotate the
display readout 180°.
When the screen saver is active, touch the display briefly to show the menu again.
1. In the main menu, press [Setup] and select [Screen Saver].
2. Press [Enter] and choose the desired setting:
o [MODE1]: shows the DMX address
o [MODE2]: switches the display off
o [OFF]: keeps the display always on (no screen saver).
3. Press [Enter] to confirm.
4. Select [Display Reverse] and press [Enter].
5. Choose [ON] or [OFF] to toggle between normal and rotated display.
6. Press [Enter] to confirm.
Inverse Pan and Tilt Movement
You can inverse the direction of the pan and/or tilt movement:
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Pan Reverse] and press [Enter].
3. Set to [ON] for pan in the inverse direction, and press [Enter]. Set to [OFF] for pan in the normal direction.
4. Select [Tilt Reverse] and press [Enter].
5. Set to [ON] for tilt in the inverse direction, and press [Enter]. Set to [OFF] for tilt in the normal direction.
Pan and Tilt Correction
If you accidentally push the device and change its pan or tilt position, you can let the device correct its position
automatically.
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Code Wheel] and press [Enter].
3. Set to [ON] to let the device automatically correct the pan and tilt position.

Smooth Dimming
You can use normal or smooth dimming. Smooth dimming diminishes the slight flicker that may appear with
normal dimming.
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Fader Delay] and press [Enter].
3. Set to [ON] for smooth dimming and press [Enter]. Set to [OFF] for normal dimming.
Temperature Warning
The device can show a warning on the display if the LED temperature exceeds a certain value. This allows you
to extend the lifetime of the LEDs.
To display a temperature warning, proceed as follows:
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Temp Switch Set] and press [Enter].
3. Set to [ON] and press [Enter].
4. Select [Temperature Set] and press [Enter].
5. Set the threshold temperature (50-120 °C) at which the warning has to appear on the display and press
[Enter] to confirm.
Test Mode with Custom Static Colour
The test mode allows you to use the device in a fixed mode with a custom colour. You can define the colour,
pan and tilt positions, and zoom. You can also dim the colour using DMX channel 6.
To set up the test mode:
1. Press [Test Mode] and set the following options:
o [PAN]: set the pan position (0-255).
o [TILT]: set the tilt position (0-255).
o [FOCUS]: set the zoom factor (0-255) for a broad (0) or narrow (255) beam of light.
o [RED]: set the brightness of the red LEDs (0-255).
o [GREEN]: set the brightness of the green LEDs (0-255).
o [BLUE]: set the brightness of the blue LEDs (0-255).
o [WHITE]: set the brightness of the white LEDs (0-255).
2. To dim this colour using DMX control, set channel 1 to 255; channels 2-5 to 0; and then use channel 6 to
set the dimmer.
Note: If you want to define the static colour using DMX channels 2-5, make sure to set channel 6 back to 0.
Viewing System Information
To view system information, press [Sys Info] in the main menu. The display shows the following information:
[On Time]: the time the device has been operational since the last power-on, in hours/minutes/seconds.
[Run Time]: the total time the device has been operational, in hours/minutes.
[Soft Ver]: the software version.
[Running Mode]: the current running mode, for example [DMX Mode], [Auto Mode], [Sound Mode].
[DMX Address]: the current DMX start address (001-512).
7.3 Stand-Alone Mode
Automatic Mode
In automatic mode, the device runs one of the built-in programs.
To set the device to automatic mode:
1. Connect nothing to the DMX input [2] of the device.
2. In the main menu, press [Run Mode] and select [Auto].
3. Press [Enter] and select a built-in program (AUTO1-AUTO8). A check mark (√) appears next to the option.
Sound-Activated Mode
In sound-activated mode, the device reacts to sound, running through the built-in programs.
To set the device to sound-activated mode:
1. Connect nothing to the DMX input [2] of the device.
2. In the main menu, press [Run Mode].
3. Select [Sound] and press [Enter] to confirm. A check mark (√) appears next to the option.

7.4 Master/Slave Mode
The master/slave mode allows connecting several devices to a single master device. All slave devices will then
work synchronously with the master device.
1. Connect all devices in series with DMX cables.
2. Choose one device that will function as master device. Set up the unit as described in Stand-Alone Mode.
The other connected devices will now automatically work in slave mode.
Note: Only one device can serve as a master device.
7.5 DMX Mode
This mode allows you to control the device by any universal DMX controller.
All DMX-controlled devices need a digital start address so that the correct device responds to the signals.
This digital start address is the channel number from which the device starts to “listen” to the DMX
controller. The same starting address can be used for a whole group of devices or an individual address can
be set for every device.
When all devices have the same address, all the units will “listen” to the control signal on one particular
channel. In other words: changing the settings of one channel will affect all devices simultaneously. If you
set individual addresses, each device will “listen” to a separate channel number. Changing the settings of
one channel will only affect the device in question.
In case of the 12-channel mode, you will have to set the start address of the first unit to 1 (CH1-12), the
second to 13 (1 + 12) (CH13-24), the third to 25 (13 + 12) (CH25-36), and so on. The highest start
address is 501.
In case of the 16-channel mode, you will have to set the start address of the first unit to 1 (CH1-16), the
second to 17 (1 + 16) (CH17-32), the third to 33 (17 + 16) (CH33-48), and so on. The highest start
address is 497.
To set the device to work with a DMX controller:
1. In the main menu, press [Run Mode] and select [DMX].
2. Select the 12 [12Ch] or 16 channel [16Ch] DMX mode and press [Enter]. A check mark (√) appears next to
the option.
3. Press [Return] to return to the main menu and press [Address].
4. Use [Up] and [Down] to set the DMX starting address (001-512) and press [Enter].
ID Codes
ID codes work as a subdivision of DMX addresses. For example, you have 10 devices connected, all with the
same DMX address. You assign ID code 001 to 2 of these devices, ID code 002 to 3 others, and ID code 003 for
the remaining 5 devices.
You can now choose to control only the devices with, for example, ID code 002, and let the other devices
remain inactive.
1. First assign an ID code to the devices: in the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [ID Code] and press [Enter].
3. Use [Up] and [Down] to select an ID code (0-25).
4. Repeat for the other devices.
5. Use DMX channel 16 to define which devices you want to control:
o Set channel 16 between 10 and 19 to control the 2 devices with ID code 001.
o Set channel 16 between 20 and 29 to control the 3 devices with ID code 002.
o Set channel 16 between 30 and 39 to control the 5 devices with ID code 003.
o Set channel 16 between 0 and 9 to disable the IDs and control all the devices normally by their DMX
address.
Colour Memory
If you set a colour via DMX, and the DMX signal is lost (for example, you pull out the cable accidentally), the
colour memory function allows the device to „remember‟ the set colour. If the function is active and you pull out
the DMX cable, the set colour is still on. If the function is inactive, the set colour will be off.
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Signal Link] and press [Enter].
3. Set to [ON] to activate the memory function.

8. Troubleshooting
Resetting
It may happen (for example because of a power surge, or if you stop executing an automatic program) that the
moving head deviates from the neutral pan/tilt position (pan and tilt = 0°).
To reset the moving head to the correct neutral position:
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Reset] and press [Enter]. [YES] appears on the display.
o Press [Enter] to reset the moving head. The moving head moves to the default position.
o Press [Return] to quit without resetting.

Resetting to Factory Defaults
To reset the device to its factory defaults, proceed as follows:
1. In the main menu, press [Setup].
2. Select [Factory Set] and press [Enter]. [YES] appears on the display.
o Press [Enter] to reset the device to the factory settings.
o Press [Return] to quit without resetting.
Caution: When you reset the device to the factory defaults, the display language may switch to Chinese. To set
the language back to English, press the icon in the lower left corner of the display (the one that looks like a
globe) and select [English] in the menu that appears. If the display does not show the main menu with the
icons, press the upper right button to return to the main menu.
9. Cleaning and Maintenance
All screws should be tightened and free of corrosion.
The housing, the lenses, the mounting supports and the installation location (e.g. ceiling, suspension,
trussing) should not be deformed, modified or tampered with; e.g. do not drill extra holes in mounting
supports, do not change the location of the connections…
Mechanically moving parts must not show any signs of wear and tear.
The electric power supply cables must not show any damage. Have a qualified technician maintain the
device.
Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance activities. Let the device cool down.
Wipe the casing and the external optics with normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth every 20 days. Dry
carefully after cleaning. Note: Cleaning frequency depends on the environment in which the device
operates (smoke, fog…).
Do not immerse the device in any liquid.
There are no user-serviceable parts, apart from the fuse.
Contact your dealer for spare parts if necessary.
Replacing the Fuse
Only replace the fuse by a fuse of the same type and rating.
1. Before replacing the fuse, unplug the mains lead.
2. Unscrew the fuse holder on the rear panel of the base with an appropriate screwdriver.
3. Remove the old fuse and install the new fuse in the fuse holder.
4. Replace the fuse holder in the housing and tighten it.

Use this device with original accessories only. Velleman nv cannot be held responsible in the event
of damage or injury resulting from (incorrect) use of this device.

Wees voorzichtig bij de installatie: raak geen kabels aan die onder stroom staan om dodelijke
elektroshocks te vermijden.
Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact (trek niet aan de kabel!) voordat u het toestel reinigt en
als u het niet gebruikt. Neem de voedingskabel enkel vast bij de stekker, trek niet aan de
kabel.
Gebruik het toestel enkel binnenshuis. Bescherm het toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en
opspattende vloeistoffen. Plaats geen objecten gevuld met vloeistof op of naast het toestel.
Houd dit toestel buiten het bereik van kinderen en onbevoegden.
Opgelet: de behuizing wordt zeer warm tijdens gebruik.
Kijk niet rechtstreeks in de lichtbron, om het volgende te vermijden:

Zorg voor een minimumafstand van 0,5 m tussen de lichtuitgang van het toestel en het

Installeer het toestel op een minimumafstand van 0,5 m van ontvlambare en explosieve voorwerpen of
stoffen.
Plaats het toestel op minstens 15 cm van plafonds of muren.
De maximale omgevingstemperatuur bedraagt 40 °C. Gebruik het toestel niet bij hogere temperaturen.

Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken. Ongeschoolde personen mogen dit
toestel niet gebruiken. Meestal is beschadiging het gevolg van onprofessioneel gebruik.
Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het toestel. Schade door wijzigingen die de
gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan het toestel valt niet onder de garantie.
Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. Andere toepassingen kunnen leiden tot kortsluitingen,
brandwonden, elektrische schokken, enz. Bij onoordeelkundig gebruik vervalt de garantie.
De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw
dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.
De leds en mechanische schade vallen niet onder de garantie.
Laat dit toestel installeren en onderhouden door een geschoolde technicus.
Het is beter om het toestel niet onmiddellijk in te schakelen nadat het werd blootgesteld aan
temperatuurschommelingen. Om beschadiging te vermijden, moet u wachten tot het toestel
kamertemperatuur heeft bereikt.
Dit toestel is ontworpen voor professioneel gebruik op podia, in disco's, enz. Het mag enkel binnenshuis
gebruikt worden met een wisselspanning van 230 VAC, 50 Hz.
Lichteffecten zijn niet ontworpen voor continue werking: regelmatige onderbrekingen verlengen de
levensduur.
Gebruik de oorspronkelijke verpakking wanneer u het toestel vervoert.
Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

6. Installatie
Kies een geschikte montageplaats. Monteer het toestel in de gewenste hoek met de meegeleverde beugel.
Koppel de voedingskabel aan het lichtnet. Ontkoppel na gebruik.
Het toestel monteren
Laat een geschoolde technicus dit toestel installeren conform EN 60598-2-17 en andere toepasselijke
normen.
De constructie waaraan het toestel wordt bevestigd, moet gedurende 1 uur 10 x het gewicht van dit toestel
kunnen dragen zonder te vervormen.
Maak het toestel ook vast met een veiligheidskabel.
Sta nooit recht onder het toestel wanneer u het monteert, verwijdert of reinigt. Laat het toestel controleren
door een geschoolde technicus voor u het in gebruik neemt en laat het 1 x per jaar volledig nakijken.
Installeer dit toestel op een plaats waar weinig mensen voorbijkomen en die niet toegankelijk is voor
onbevoegden.
Het ophangen vereist een degelijke praktijkervaring: u moet de maximumbelasting van de draagconstructie
kunnen berekenen, weten welk constructiemateriaal u kunt gebruiken, ... Laat het materiaal en het toestel
regelmatig nakijken. Monteer het toestel niet zelf indien u er geen ervaring mee heeft. Een slechte montage
kan leiden tot verwondingen.
Voor montage op een lichtbrug, gebruik een geschikte klem (niet meegelev.) en draai een M10-bout
doorheen het midden van de (geplooide) beugel.

bevestigen en een instelling opslaan
Regel de gewenste invalshoek door middel van de montagebeugel en draai de regelschroeven stevig aan.
Verwijder alle brandbaar materiaal in een straal van 0.5 m rond het toestel.
Laat het toestel aansluiten door een geschoolde elektricien.
Sluit het toestel via de stekker aan op het lichtnet. Alle toestellen moeten via een geaard stopcontact
gevoed worden en mogen niet via een variabele weerstand of dimcircuit gevoed worden, ook al gebruikt u
de variabele weerstand of het dimcircuit als een 0 % tot 100 % inschakeling.
De installatie moet voor het eerste gebruik gekeurd worden door een expert.
DMX512-aansluiting
Indien van toepassing, sluit een XLR-kabel aan de vrouwelijke XLR-uitgang van een controller (niet
meegelev.) en het andere uiteinde van de mannelijke XLR-ingang [2] van het toestel. U kunt verscheidene
toestellen aan elkaar koppelen met behulp van een seriële koppeling. Gebruik daarvoor een 2-aderige
afgeschermde kabel met XLR ingang- en uitgangsaansluitingen.
De maximaal aanbevolen kabellengte is 500 meter. Het aanbevolen maximumaantal toestellen op eenzelfde
aansluiting is 32.
Een DMX-eindweerstand is aanbevolen als de DMX-kabel vrij lang is of wordt gebruikt in een omgeving met
veel elektrische ruis (bv. een discotheek). De eindweerstand voorkomt corruptie van het digitale
controlesignaal door elektrische ruis. De DMX eindweerstand is niets meer dan een XLR-stekker met een
weerstand van 120 Ω van pin 2 naar 3. Deze XLR-stekker wordt dan aangesloten op de XLR-uitgang [3]
van het laatste toestel in de reeks.
7. Gebruik
Het toestel kan in verschillende modi gebruikt worden:
autonome modus: automatisch of muziekgestuurd
master/slave
DMX512-gestuurde modus
7.1 Het bedieningspaneel
Bij het opstarten verschijnt het hoofdmenu op het controlepaneel. Dit menu bestaat uit 6 opties. Druk op één
van de opties om een menu weer te geven.
In het menu verschijnen 4 knoppen rechts op de display. Van boven tot onder:
7.2 Algemene instellingen
Scherminstellingen
U kunt de display uitschakelen of een screensaver gebruiken na een bepaalde tijd inactiviteit, en de
schermuitlezing 180° roteren.
Wanneer de screensaver geactiveerd is, raak de display even aan om het menu opnieuw weer te geven.
1. In het hoofdmenu, druk op [Setup] en selecteer [Screen Saver].
2. Druk op [Enter] en kies de gewenste instelling:
o [MODE1]: het DMX-adres weergeven
o [MODE2]: de display uitschakelen
o [OFF]: de display blijft ingeschakeld (geen screensaver)
3. Druk op [Enter] om te bevestigen.
4. Selecteer [Display Reverse] en druk op [Enter].
5. Kies [ON] of [OFF] om te schakelen tussen een normale en geroteerde weergave.
6. Druk op [Enter] om te bevestigen.
Pan- en tiltbeweging omkeren
U kunt de richting van de pan- en/of tiltbeweging omkeren:
1. In het hoofdmenu, druk op [Setup].
2. Selecteer [Pan Reverse] en druk op [Enter].
3. Stel in op [ON] voor een omgekeerde panbeweging en druk op [Enter]. Stel in op [OFF] voor een normale
panbeweging.

4. Selecteer [Tilt Reverse] en druk op [Enter].
5. Stel in op [ON] voor een omgekeerde tiltbeweging en druk op [Enter]. Stel in op [OFF] voor een normale
tiltbeweging.
Correctie pan- en tiltbeweging
Het toestel kan de positie automatisch corrigeren als u per ongeluk op een knop drukt en de pan- of tiltpositie
wijzigt.
1. In het hoofdmenu, druk op [Setup].
2. Selecteer [Code Wheel] en druk op [Enter].
3. Stel in op [ON] om de pan- en tiltpositie automatisch te corrigeren.
Vloeiend dimmen
U kunt kiezen tussen normaal of vloeiend dimmen. Vloeiend dimmen vermindert het flikkeren dat kan
voorkomen bij normaal dimmen.
1. In het hoofdmenu, druk op [Setup].
2. Selecteer [Fader Delay] en druk op [Enter].
3. Stel in op [ON] voor vloeiend dimmen en druk op [Enter]. Stel in op [OFF] voor normaal dimmen.
Temperatuurwaarschuwing
Er verschijnt een melding op de display wanneer de temperatuur van de led een bepaalde waarde overschrijdt.
Dit verlengt de levensduur van de leds.
Om een temperatuurwaarschuwing weer te geven:
1. In het hoofdmenu, druk op [Setup].
2. Selecteer [Temp Switch Set] en druk op [Enter].
3. Stel in op [ON] en druk op [Enter].
4. Selecteer [Temperature Set] en druk op [Enter].
5. Stel de temperatuurlimiet in (50-120 °C) vanaf wanneer een melding op de display moet verschijnen en
druk op [Enter] om te bevestigen.
Testmodus met een gepersonaliseerde statische kleur
Met de testmodus, kunt u het toestel gebruiken in een vaste modus met een gepersonaliseerde kleur. U kunt de
kleur, de pan- en tiltpositie, en de zoom instellen. U kunt ook de kleur dimmen via DMX-kanaal 6.
De testmodus instellen:
1. Druk op [Test Mode] en stel de volgende opties in:
o [PAN]: de panpositie instellen (0-255).
o [TILT]: de tiltpositie instellen (0-255).
o [FOCUS]: de zoomfactor instellen (0-255) voor een brede (0) of smalle (255) lichtbundel.
o [RED]: de helderheid van de rode leds instellen (0-255).
o [GREEN]: de helderheid van de groene leds instellen (0-255).
o [BLUE]: de helderheid van de blauwe leds instellen (0-255).
o [WHITE]: de helderheid van de witte leds instellen (0-255).
2. Stel kanaal 1 in op 255; kanalen 2-5 op 0 om de leds via DMX-sturing te dimmen. Gebruik daarna kanaal 6
om de dimmer in te stellen.
Opmerking: Zet kanaal 6 terug op 0 om de statische kleur in te stellen met DMX-kanalen 2-5.
Weergave systeeminformatie
Druk op [Sys Info] in het hoofdmenu om de systeeminformatie weer te geven. Op de display verschijnt de
volgende informatie:
[On Time]: de werkingsduur van het toestel sinds de laatste inschakeling, weergegeven in
uren/minuten/seconden.
[Run Time]: de totale werkingsduur van het toestel, weergegeven in uren/minuten.
[Soft Ver]: de softwareversie.
[Running Mode]: de huidige werkingsmodus, bijvoorbeeld [DMX Mode], [Auto Mode], [Sound Mode].
[DMX Address]: het huidige DMX-startadres (001-512).
