USER MANUAL

1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union Important environmental information about this product

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service. Respect the local environmental rules.

If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

Thank you for choosing Velleman! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, do not install or use it and contact your dealer.

2. Safety Instructions

 This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons

with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

 Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and

dripping liquids. Never put objects filled with liquids on top of or close to the device.

 Do not disassemble or open the cover under any circumstances. Touching live

wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Refer to an authorized dealer for service and/or spare parts.

 Always connect the device to an earthed power socket.  The device heats up during use. Make sure the ventilation openings are clear at all

times. For sufficient air circulation, leave at least 1" (± 2.5 cm) in front of the openings.

 Place the device on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Do not place the device on

flammable surfaces such as carpets, fabrics…

 Always disconnect mains power when the device is not in use, when servicing or

maintenance activities are performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only.

 Keep this device away from dust and extreme temperatures.  Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the

device.

 Do not use the device when damage to housing or cables is noticed. Do not

attempt to service the device yourself but contact an authorised dealer.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.

 Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.  All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications

to the device is not covered by the warranty.

 Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the

warranty.

 Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and

the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

 Product images are for illustrative purposes only.  Keep this manual for future reference.

5. Operation

5.1 Switching On and Off

1. Connect the device to the mains using the included power cord.

WARNING

Always connect the device to an earthed power socket.

2. Press the power button to switch on the device. At this moment, there is no output voltage or

current on the output terminals.

3. Press the power button to switch off the device after use.

5.2 Constant Voltage Mode

Set up the desired output voltage between 0 and 30 V. Also, set up the desired current limit. If the output current exceeds the limit, the device automatically

goes into constant current mode.

5.3 Constant Current Mode

Set up the desired output current between 0 and 5 A. Also, set up the desired voltage limit.

5.4 Setting Voltage and Current

The device allows you to save three different settings using the memory keys M1, M2 and M3.

1. Set the voltage value. Press the V/A button. The voltage readout flashes. Turn the adjustment knob

until you reach the approximate desired voltage. Press the adjustment knob to select a digit in the voltage readout and turn to fine-tune.

2. Set the current value. Press the V/A button. The current readout flashes. Turn the adjustment knob

until you reach the approximate desired current. Press the adjustment knob to select a digit in the current readout and turn to fine-tune. If you enable the over-current protection, the output switches off automatically if the current exceeds this value.

3. Press the memory save key. The readout will flash. Press the desired memory button to save.

5.5 Setting Recall

Press the corresponding memory key to recall a previously saved setting.

REMARK

The output is switched off automatically when pressing a memory

button.

5.6 Using Memory 3

1. Set the voltage and current as desired. Press memory button MEN and wait until the display starts

flashing.

2. Press button M3. Wait until the display stops flashing; the settings are automatically stored into the

memory.

3. To recall the settings, press button M3

5.7 Connecting a Load

1. Connect the load’s positive terminal to the positive terminal of the device.

2. Connect the load’s negative terminal to the negative terminal of the device.

REMARK

You can connect the positive or negative terminal to the ground

terminal of the device to pin the voltage to 0 V (earth potential) at that

terminal.

5.8 Applying Voltage to the Load

1. Press the on-off key to apply voltage to the load. The output and CV indicators light. The device

works in constant voltage mode. The display shows the actual output voltage and current. If the current exceeds the set current limit, the device automatically goes into constant current mode. The CV indicator goes out and the CC indicator lights.

2. Press the on-off key to switch off the output.

5.9 Over-Current Protection

1. To protect the device against over-current, set up the maximum current and the n press the OCP

button.

2. Switch on the output to apply output to the load. If the output current exceeds the set value, the

device will cut off the output and the OCP indicator will flash.

3. Disconnect the load. To recover, press the OCP button.

5.10 Remote Control via PC

1. Install the software on your PC.

2. Connect the device to your PC and switch it on. Note that the control buttons on the front panel are

locked when the device is connected to a PC. You can only operate the device through the PC.

3. Click the software to launch the software. The opening screen appears.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

6.1 General

 Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance activities.  The power supply cables must not show any damage. Have a qualified technician

maintain the device.

 Wipe the device regularly with a moist, lint-free cloth. Do not use alcohol or

solvents.

 There are no user-serviceable parts, apart from the fuse. Contact your dealer for

spare parts if necessary.

 Store the device in a dry, well-ventilated, dust-free room.

6.2 Replacing the Fuse

1. Only replace the fuse by a fuse of the same type and rating.

2. Before replacing the fuse, unplug the mains lead.

3. Wedge the fuse holder out of its housing with a flat-head screwdriver.

4. Remove the damaged fuse from its holder and replace with the exact same type of fuse.

5. Insert the fuse holder back in its place and reconnect power.

HANDLEIDING

1. Inleiding

Aan alle ingezetenen van de Europese Unie Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het na zijn levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet dit toestel naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.

Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten betreffende de verwijdering.

2. Veiligheidsvoorschriften

 Dit toestel is geschikt voor gebruik door kinderen vanaf 8 jaar, door personen met

fysieke, zintuiglijke of verstandelijke beperkingen, of door personen met gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, op voorwaarde dat dit onder toezicht gebeurt van een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid of hun aanwijzingen heeft gegeven, hoe zij het toestel moeten gebruiken en zich bewust zijn van de risico's die het gebruik van het toestel met zich meebrengt. Kinderen mogen niet met het toestel spelen. De reiniging en het onderhoud van het toestel mogen niet worden uitgevoerd door kinderen, tenzij ze onder toezicht staan.

 Gebruik het toestel enkel binnenshuis. Bescherm het toestel tegen regen,

vochtigheid en opspattende vloeistoffen. Plaats nooit objecten gevuld met vloeistof op of naast het toestel.

 Demonteer of open dit toestel NOOIT. Raak geen kabels aan die onder stroom

staan om dodelijke elektrische schokken te vermijden. Er zijn geen onderdelen in het toestel die door de gebruiker gerepareerd kunnen worden. Contacteer uw verdeler voor eventuele reserveonderdelen.

 Sluit het toestel steeds aan op een geaard stopcontact.  Dit het toestel wordt zeer warm tijdens het gebruik. Zorg ervoor dat de

ventilatieopeningen niet verstopt geraken. Voor voldoende luchtcirculatie, voorzie een ruimte van minstens 2.5 cm tussen het toestel en elk ander object.

 Plaats het toestel op een plat en hittebestendig oppervlak. Plaats het toestel nooit

op een brandbaar oppervlak (tapijt, textiel, ...).

 Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer het toestel niet in gebruik is of

voordat u het toestel reinigt. Houd de voedingskabel altijd vast bij de stekker en niet bij de kabel.

 Bescherm het toestel tegen stof en extreme temperaturen.  Bescherm tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de bediening van het toestel.  Gebruik het toestel niet indien de behuizing of de bekabeling beschadigd is.

Probeer in geen geval het toestel zelf te repareren maar contacteer uw verdeler.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze handleiding.

 Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.  Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen. Schade door wijzigingen die de

gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan het toestel valt niet onder de garantie.

 Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.  De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in deze handleiding en

uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee houden.

 De afbeeldingen van het product zijn enkel ter illustratie.  Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

5. Gebruik

5.1 In- en uitschakelen

1. Sluit het toestel aan op het lichtnet met de meegeleverde voedingskabel.

WAARSCHUWING

Sluit het toestel steeds aan op een geaard stopcontact.

2. Druk op de aan/uit-knop om het toestel in te schakelen. Op dit ogenblik is er geen uitgangsspanning

of stroom op de uitgangsaansluitingen.

3. Druk op de aan/uit-knop om het toestel uit te schakelen na gebruik.

5.2 Constante spanningsmodus

Stel de gewenste uitgangsspanning in tussen 0 V en 30 V. U kunt ook de gewenste stroombegrenzing instellen. Als de uitgangsstroom de begrenzing overschrijdt,

dan schakelt het toestel automatisch naar constante stroommodus om.

5.3 Constante stroommodus

Stel de gewenste uitgangsstroom in tussen 0 A en 5 A. U kunt ook de gewenste spanningsbegrenzing instellen.

5.4 De spanning en stroom instellen

U kunt 3 verschillende instellingen opslaan met de geheugenknoppen M1, M2 en M3.

1. Stel de spanningswaarde in. Druk op V/A. De spanningsuitlezing knippert. Draai aan de instelknop

tot de gewenste spanning ongeveer bereikt is. Druk op de instelknop om een cijfer in de spanningsuitlezing te selecteren en draai de instelknop om te fijnregelen.

2. Stel de stroomwaarde in. Druk op V/A. De stroomuitlezing knippert. Draai aan de instelknop tot de

gewenste stroom ongeveer bereikt is. Druk op de instelknop om een cijfer in de stroomuitlezing te selecteren en draai de instelknop om te fijnregelen. Bij het activeren van de overstroombeveiliging wordt de uitgang automatisch uitgeschakeld wanneer de stroom deze waarde overschrijdt.

3. Druk op MEN. De uitlezing knippert. Druk op de gewenste geheugenknop om op te slaan.

5.5 Instellen geheugen oproepen

Druk op de overeenkomstige geheugenknop om een opgeslagen instelling op te roepen.

OPMERKING

De uitgang wordt automatisch uitgeschakeld wanneer u een

geheugenknop indrukt.

5.6 Geheugen 3 gebruiken

1. Stel de gewenste spanning en stroom in. Druk op MEN en wacht totdat de display begint te

knipperen.

2. Druk op M3. Wacht totdat de display niet meer knippert. De instellingen worden automatisch in het

geheugen opgeslagen.

3. Om de instelling op te roepen, druk op M3.

5.7 Een belasting aansluiten

1. Sluit de positieve connector van de belasting aan op de positieve uitgangsaansluiting van het

toestel.

2. Sluit de negatieve connector van de belasting aan op de negatieve uitgangsaansluiting van het

toestel.

OPMERKING

Sluit de + of – connectoren aan op de aardingsaansluiting van het

toestel om de spanning in te stellen op 0 V (aardingspotentiaal) bij die

aansluiting.

5.8 Spanning op de belasting aanleggen

1. Druk op de aan/uit-knop om spanning op de belasting te zetten. De OUT- en CV-indicatoren lichten

op. Het toestel functioneert in constante spanningsmodus. De display geeft enkel de huidige uitgangsspanning en de huidige stroom weer. Als de uitgangsstroom de ingestelde stroombegrenzing overschrijdt, dan schakelt het toestel automatisch naar constante stroommodus om. De CV-indicator gaat uit en de CC-indicator licht op.

2. Houd de aan/uit-knop ingedrukt om de uitgang uit te schakelen.

5.9 Bescherming tegen overstroom

1. Om het toestel tegen overstroom te beschermen, stel de maximumstroom in en druk op OCP.

2. Druk op de aan/uit-knop om de uitgang aan te leggen op de belasting. Wanneer de uitgangsstroom

hoger is dan de ingestelde waarde, dan schakelt het toestel de uitgang uit en knippert de OCPindicator.

3. Ontkoppel de belasting. Om te herstellen, druk op OCP.

5.10 Bediening op afstand via PC

1. Installeer de software.

2. Sluit het toestel aan op de pc en schakel deze in. Opmerking: De knoppen op het frontpaneel zijn

vergrendeld wanneer het toestel aangesloten is op een pc. U kunt het toestel enkel via de pc bedienen.

3. Klik op de software om de software te starten. Het startscherm verschijnt.

4. Selecteer het nummer van het aangesloten toestel uit het vervolgkeuzemenu en klik op

6. Reiniging en onderhoud

6.1 Algemeen

 Ontkoppel het toestel van het lichtnet voor u aan onderhoudswerkzaamheden

begint.

 De voedingskabels mogen niet beschadigd zijn. Laat het toestel onderhouden door

een geschoolde technicus.

 Maak het toestel geregeld schoon met een vochtige, niet pluizende doek. Gebruik

geen alcohol of solventen.

 De gebruiker mag geen onderdelen vervangen, behalve de zekering. Bestel

eventuele reserveonderdelen bij uw dealer.

 Bewaar het toestel op een droge, goed geventileerde, stofvrije ruimte.

6.2 De zekering vervangen

1. Vervang een gesprongen zekering enkel door een zekering van hetzelfde type en met hetzelfde

vermogen.

2. Ontkoppel het toestel van de netspanning voordat u de zekering vervangt.

3. Maak de zekeringhouder los met behulp van een schroevendraaier met platte kop.

4. Verwijder de oude zekering en vervang door een zekering van hetzelfde type.

5. Plaats de zekeringhouder terug in het toestel en schakel de stroom weer in.
