1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union

Thank you for choosing Velleman! Please read the manual thoroughly before
bringing this device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, don't
install or use it and contact your dealer.
The CARS4700 is designed to convert 12~24VDC power to a 15~19VDC
output, as required by most current notebook computers. It features
overload and short circuit protection to avoid damage.

Velleman nv will not be held responsible for damaged or lost
software or damage to a connected device. Before connecting a device

you should make sure that both the voltage and polarity are correct. Do not
change either voltage or polarity during operation. Contact your local

dealer when in doubt.

2. Safety Instructions

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of
the device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not
dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it
should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device
should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling
service. Respect the local environmental rules.

Keep the adapter away from children and unauthorized
users.

Dry location use only. Keep this adaptor away from rain and

moisture. Never put objects filled with liquid on top of or close to
the adaptor.

DO NOT disassemble or open the cover under any circumstances.
Touching live wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks.

The housing might heat up during usage. Keep minimum distances
around the apparatus for sufficient ventilation. Place the adaptor on
a flat heat resistant surface.
Always disconnect mains power when the adaptor is not in use or
when servicing or maintenance activities are performed. Do not pull
the cable!
Do not use the adaptor when damage to housing or cables is
noticed. Do not attempt to service the device yourself but contact
an authorised dealer.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages
of this manual.

Keep this adaptor away from dust and extreme heat.

Protect this adaptor from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute
force when operating the device.

Familiarise yourself with the functions of the adaptor before actually using
it.

•

All modifications of the adaptor are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage
caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.

•

Only use the adaptor for its intended purpose. Using the device in an
unauthorised way will void the warranty.

•

Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not
covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for
any ensuing defects or problems.

CAUTION:

• Always make sure the load on the adaptor does not exceed the rated

output current of the power supply (see table).

• Do not use this adaptor with an appliance that requires more than 90W.

•

Always start the car engine before plugging the adapter in the cigarette
socket.

• Always switch the connected device off before disconnecting the adaptor.

• Never short-circuit the output terminals.

• Disconnect from car socket when not in use.

4. Use

• Determine the proper connector plug (output voltage is selected

automatically according to the used plug), or use the USB port for a fixed
5VDC output. Make sure the connected device complies with the
selected voltage, current and polarity!

• Insert the plug in the jack. Do not force!

• Insert the other end of the plug in a suitable device and plug the car plug

into the car socket. A LED indicates that the device is powered.

• Switch on the appliance.

Fuse

• The fuse is located inside the car plug. Simply unscrew the tip of the plug

to release the fuse.

• Always replace the fuse with an identical rated fuse (15A, fast, Ø5 x

20mm, ref. FF5N).

6. Maintenance

• Disconnect the adaptor from the car socket and wipe it with a moist, lint-

free cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents.

• Do not submerge the adaptor in water or any other liquid.

• There are no user-serviceable parts inside the adaptor. Refer to an

authorized dealer for service and/or spare parts.

Use this device with original accessories only. Velleman nv cannot
be held responsible in the event of damage or injury resulted from
(incorrect) use of this device.

in gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het transport,
installeer het dan niet en raadpleeg uw dealer.
De CARS4700 is ontworpen om een 12 ~ 24 VDC spanning om te zetten
naar een 15 ~ 19 VDC uitgangsspanning, waar de meest gangbare notebook
computers op werken. Het beschikt over een beveiliging tegen overbelasting
en kortsluiting om schade te voorkomen.

Velleman nv is niet aansprakelijk voor schade aan of verlies van
gegevens, of schade aan een aangesloten toestel. Controleer zowel de

spanning als de polariteit alvorens een toestel aan te sluiten. Wijzig nooit de
spanning of de polariteit tijdens het gebruik. Contacteer uw plaatselijke
dealer bij twijfel.

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact (trek niet aan de kabel!)
voordat u de adapter reinigt en als u het niet gebruikt.

Gebruik de adapter niet indien de behuizing of de kabels

een erkende dealer.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

• Leer eerst de functies van de adapter kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.

• Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen. Schade door

wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht valt niet onder de
garantie.

• Gebruik de adapter enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. Bij onoordeelkundig

gebruik vervalt de garantie.

• De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde

richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid
afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.

LET OP:

• Zorg ervoor dat de aangesloten last de toegelaten uitgangsstroom van de

adapter niet overschrijdt (zie tabel).

• Gebruik deze adapter niet met een toestel dat meer dan 90 W verbruikt.

•

Start eerst de motor van de wagen alvorens de adapter in te pluggen.

• Schakel eerst het aangesloten toestel uit alvorens de adapter te

ontkoppelen.

• U mag de terminals nooit kortsluiten.

•

Trek uit de sigarettenaansteker na gebruik.
