1. SAFETY INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
1.1 SAFETY SYMBOLS
The following symbols will be used throughout this manual.
The following safety precautions must be followed at all times along with any additional existing safety rules.
1.2 CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, charge the battery in temperatures ranging from 65 degrees F (18 degrees C) to 75 degrees F (24 degrees C). Inflator must be charged at least 24 hours using the 120 volt AC method prior to initial use.
A. INITIAL USE
The Vector Compressor/Inflator is shipped in a partially charged state (not fully charged). The battery must be charged using the 120 volt AC method before the initial use.
B. END OF USE/RECHARGE
When charge indicator runs down, recharge product before storing away, using the 120 volt AC method.
C. MAINTENANCE/RECHARGE/STORED ITEM
Recharge the unit every 3 to 6 months even if the unit has not been used.
D. GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
1. Completely read this product manual as well as all interactive applicable manufacturers’ and/or vehicles’ manuals and safety guidelines.
2. Be familiar with the proper use of the unit and all interactive applicable manufacturers’ products.
3. Never exceed recommended pressures or over inflate tires/inflatable items. Bursting articles can cause serious injury. Always check pressure with the pressure gauge. It is recommended to wear protective eyewear when inflating tires/inflatable items.
4. Always wear protective clothing (i.e. no vinyl) and eyewear when using

20. There is a risk of explosive gases being released when lead acid batteries are being charged or discharged. Failure to follow instructions may cause property damage, explosive hazard, and/or personal injury.
21. DO NOT over inflate tires/inflatable items.
22. Although this unit contains a sealed, non-spillable, lead acid battery, it is recommended to be kept upright during storage, use and recharging. When using this unit in proximity to vehicle’s battery and engine, stand the unit on a flat, stable surface, and be sure to keep all clamps, cords, clothing and body parts away from moving vehicle components. Do not smoke or use flammable items (matches, cigarette lighters, etc.) while working on or near a vehicle’s battery or engine system.
23. Check unit periodically for wear and tear. Replace worn or defective parts immediately; contact Vector Customer Service toll free (866) 584-5504.
2. INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on selecting the VEC270S COMPRESSOR/INFLATOR with Spotlight/Lantern Combo.
• This system is an advanced high-pressure (up to 260 PSI) multi-use air
compressor system and 12 volt DC power source that will provide years of reliable service if maintained properly.
The VEC270S COMPRESSOR/INFLATOR is a compact, durable and portable system that features:
• Standard tire valve chuck
• Ultra bright Spotlight/Lantern Combo
• 12 volt DC power source and outlet
It is ideal for use with Vector 12 volt DC cordless, portable, rechargeable products and MAXX®SST DC/AC Power Inverters.
Use the VEC270S COMPRESSOR/INFLATOR to: Operate: 12 volt DC fans, inflators, fluorescent worklights, cell phones*,
spotlights, TVs, portable radios, cassette or CD players, and more. *Can quick­charge a cellular phone by using the phone’s 12 volt DC adapter cord.
Operate: Certain 120 volt AC accessories (requires a Vector 12 volt DC power inverter, sold separately)
The VEC270S system has an easy-to-read, series of LED (Light Emitting Diode) charge indicators that show when the unit is fully charged, or the level of charge in the battery. Charge level can be viewed when the "PUSH FOR STATUS" button is pressed. When pressed, the LEDs will show the battery‘s power level status (from Low to Full). The green LED full indicator illuminates when the unit is fully recharged and charging can be discontinued.
A 12 volt DC accessory outlet is provided for use with appliances that can operate from a vehicle 12 volt DC accessory outlet. This allows maximum portability and utility when the VEC270S is used in remote locations.

5. Never recharge more than 5 hours maximum using 12 volt DC method/more than 35 hours maximum using 120 volt AC method.
6. To reduce risk of damage to plug and cord, pull by plug and not the cord when disconnecting.
7. Never operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or
otherwise damaged in any way; take it to a qualified service technician or call Vector Customer Service toll free (866) 584-5504.
8. Never disassemble; take unit to a qualified service technician or call
Vector Customer Service when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire and will void the warranty.
9. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug charger from outlet before
attempting to clean.
10. Always recharge unit after each use, recommended 120 volt AC method.
11. Avoid charging the battery at temperatures,
• Below 40 degrees F, (5 degrees C) or
• Above 105 degrees F (40 degrees C).
12. Never operate the unit near fire, flammable gas or liquid. Never expose
battery to fire or intense heat as it may explode. Before disposing of the battery, protect exposed terminals with heavy-duty electrical tape to prevent shorting (shorting can result in personal injury or fire).
13. Never operate the inflator after the battery indicator light comes on.
14. Never operate the inflator with the 120 volt AC recharging adapter
connected to the unit as the charger could become damaged.
15. Never leave unit unattended while in use.
16. Never put metal objects into the 12 volt DC power outlet. Never insert
anything other than the supplied power/recharging cords or recommended appliance power/recharging cords into the 12 volt DC charging/power outlet on this unit. Do not use any accessory that is not recommended or provided by the manufacturer. Use only the supplied cords/adapters for recharging this unit.
17. Always replace the fuse with the same type and amp rating. Never use a
higher amperage fuse rating.
18. Never submerge this unit in water. When charging the unit near water, do
not allow electrical cords and outlets to become moist, damp or wet ­electrical shock could result. Always protect the unit from rain, snow or other sources of moisture. When charging unit from a 120 volt AC electrical outlet, make sure area is dry. It is recommended to use an outlet complete with a Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI) Switch.
19. Keep unit out of reach of children (whether stored, or in use)! All ON/OFF
switches should be in the OFF position when the unit is charging or not in use. Make sure all switches are in the OFF position before connection to a power source or load.
