Whenusing thevacuum cleaner, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:
1. Only use the vacuum cleaner indoors on dry surfaces.
2. Turn off the vacuum cleaner controls before disconnecting or connecting from the mains supply.
3. Alwaysunplug the vacuum cleaner before connecting or disconnecting the vacuumhose and accessories.
4. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance

in the presence of explosive liquids or vapours.
14. Do not vacuum up harmful or toxic material (chlorine, bleac
h, ammonia, drain cleaner etc.).
15. Do not vacuum up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
16. Do not use without ALL of the filters in place.
17. Take extra care when vacuuming on stairs.
18. Keep vacuuming area well lit.
19. Store the vacuum cleaner in a cool, dry area.

21. Use only SAA approved 10 amp extension cords. Non-approved cords may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the co

cannot be tripped over.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the
vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before assembling, opening or emptying the dirt container, or before connecting/disconnecting the attachments.
CAUTION: The vacuum cleaner is a very powerful
unit. Before plugging the cord into the electrical outlet, make sure the switch is in the ‘off’ position. Hold the vacuum cleaner firmly when starting and in use.
IMPORTANT: If the inlet, h
ose or telescopic tube
is blocked, switch off the vacuum cleaner and remove the blockage(s) before re-starting the vacuum cleaner.
IMPORTANT: Cleaning filters improves vacuum
performance. Vax recommends that your filters should be checked and cleaned periodically. If your filters are washable make sure they are completely dry before inserting back into the vacuum cleaner.

NOTE: Fully unwind
power cord before every use. A yellow mark on the cord indicates the recommended cord length. Do not exceed the cord length beyond the yellow mark.

performance of your machine. Please check and clean filters periodically (depending on the level of use). For full cleaning instructions, see page 5.

Operation
Carpet cleaning
For carpet cleaning press the rocker switch on the combination floor head to lift the brushes or use the turbo brush accessories. (Turbo brushes in VCZP1600 / VCZR1600 models only).
Hard floor cleaning
Hard floor cleaning, press the rocker switch on the combination floor head to lower the brushes or use the hard floor brush accessory. (Hard floor brush in VCZR1600 model only).
Accessories
The accessories can also be attached directly to the handle by removing the telescopic tubes and pushing in the desired accessory.
2-in-1 tool (Upholstery & Dusting Brush)
Dusting brush; for delicate surfaces. Upholstery tool; for carpet, upholstery and stairs etc.
Crevice tool
For crevices, corners and cracks, etc.
Turbo tool (VCZP1600 / VCZR1600 models only)
For cleaning upholstery, stairs, car interiors, mattresses and small surfaces.
Using the stretch hose (Not standard on all models VCZR1600 Model only)
Attach stretch hose to vacuum
Attach stretch hose to telescopic extension tube.

NOTE: For convenience
there is a parking slot located at the rear of the vacuum cleaner where the floor tool and tubes can be attached for storage and carrying.

WARNING: Always unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before removing dirt container.

WARNING: Do not use the vacuum cleaner without all filters in place.

WARNING: Vax recommends that filters should be checked & cleaned periodically (eg every 6 months
as a guide), depending on level of use.
Press down the button located on the dirt container. When the button is pressed down, the dust barrel can be lifted to remove.
Hold the dirt container over a bin and press the quick release button to empty the container. When emptied, close the dirt container flap. A click will be heard when closed. Replace the dirt container.
Cleaning the cyclone separator
1. Twist and pull the dirt container bin off the cyclone separator. The dirt container bin may be wiped clean.
2. The separator should only be cleaned with a soft brush and wiped with a damp cloth.
3. Leave the separator to dry completely before replacing. Allow 24 hrs to dry.

WARNING: The cyclone separator should not be
submerged in water.
Twist the top of dust canister and lift. Pull filter out. Separate the two filter components.
Tap over bin to release excess dirt. Rinse in warm water (max 40˚C).
Do not use detergents.
Allow to dry for 24 hours after removing excess water.

Cleaning Blockages
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn the vacuum cleaner off and unplug
the electrical outlet before performing maintenance/troubleshooting checks.

Hose Blockages
The hose may be disconnected from the vacuum cleaner. Carefully remove any blockages found and reconnect hose securely.
Accessory Blockages
Remove accessory from hose/ tube. Carefully remove the blockage and return to the cleaner.
Cleaning Debris from the Turbo Tool (VCZP1600/VCZR1600 Models only)
NOTE: Switch the cleaner off and disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet.
Press the two side buttons together & pull sides apart.
Carefully use scissors to cut out the blockage.
Realign turbo brush sides & press together.
Squeeze together the tabs at the base of the vacuum.
Remove filter by twisting. Pull filter out of cleaner. Tap over bin to release
excess dirt. Do not wash.

Removing the debris from the Turbo Brush
(VCZP1600/VCZR1600 Models only)
The brush bar will stop rotating if it is blocked during operation by vacuuming up foreign objects, or if strands of hair or carpet are wrapped around it.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off and disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet.
Lay the Turbo Brush floor head on a flat surface and turn over to expose the brushbar. Using a pair of scissors, cut through any threads or hairs caught by the brushbar that have wrapped around the guides.

The Dirt container may be incorrectly installed: Remove the Dirt Container from the unit by pressing the Dirt Container Release Button (Page
6) and reattach it to the unit, ensuring it is locked firmly back into place.
