The Universal Electronics Millennium™ 3 is our latest
generation universal remote control.It is designed to
operate all ofthe features of your cable converter and
only the most-used features of your TV (e.g.,Volume
Up/Down) and VCR (e.g.,Play,Stop,Fast Forward,
Rewind,Pause,and TV/VCR Select).Moreover,the
Millennium 3 is packed with easy-to-use features such as:
• Preprogrammed codes to operate the cable converter
supplied by your cable system provider
• Preprogrammed technology for easy setup
• Color-co ded keys to quickly locate popular func tions
• Cable ID Lock to lock your remote control for use only
with the cable converter
• Code Search to help program control ofolder or
disconti nu ed components
• Option key for assigning your favorite channels
• Shift key for access to cable Video On Demand (VOD)
features and TV channel changing capability
Before you can use your new remote control,you will
need to program it to operate the specific home entertainment components you wish to control.Follow the
instructions detailed in this manual to set up your
Millennium 3 and enjoy your new remote control.

FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS
Use the illustration below to locate Millennium 3 features
and then study the Key Charts (on the next two pages) to
learn how they function.

Key Charts
The LED (red light) blinks to show that
the remote control is working and is
sending signals.
Press VCR,TV,or CBL once to turn on
or off a se lected component.
Use SETUP for all programming

per view menu or to lock out a specific
channel on your cable converter.
Use EXIT to exit out of your cable
converter’s menu and guide.
Use cursor keys to move the cursor in
the program guide and menu screens.

INSTALLING BATTERIES

1.On the back ofthe Millennium 3,push the tab
and lift off the battery cover.
2.Obtain two (2) fully-charged AA alkaline bat-
teries.Match the + and – marks on the batteries to the + and – marks in the battery case,
then insert the new batteries.
3.Press the battery cover back into place.The tab
should click when the cover is locked.
4.Test the unit by any mode key (e.g.VCR,TV,or
CBL).If the batteries are inserted correctly,the
LED will blink once.
NOTE:Whenever batteries need replacement,the Millennium 3
will blink twice with every key press.Simply replace the batteries
and the Millennium 3 will be restored to its full functionality,
complete with your favorite sett ing s.

PROGRAMMING CABLE CONVERTER
(OR DBS RECEIVER) CONTROL
The Millennium 3 is preprogrammed at the factory to
operate the cable converter given to you by your cable
company. However,if you have another brand or model
ofcable converter or satellite receiver that you would like
to cont rol,then you’ll need to perform the following
instructions to unlock the cable key,enter in a new code,
and lock the cable key again.
To unlock the Cable key:
1.Turn on the Cable Converter or DBS Receiver.
2.On the Millennium 3,press CBL once.Press
and hold SETUP until the LED blinks twice,
then release SETUP.
3.Enter 9- 9 - 7.The LED will blink twice.
4.Press CH –once.The LED will blink twice.
To program the Cable key:
1.Locate the brand name ofyour Cable Converter
(or Direct Broadcast Satellite Receiver) in the
Setup Codes For Cable Converters(or Setup
Codes For DBS Receivers) section starting on the
next page,and write it in the appropriate space.

USING THE SHIFT KEY
The SHIFT key is designe d to provide access to chan n e l
control capabilities of your TV (e.g.,Digits 0-9,Up/Down,
Enter,and Last) and Video On Demand (VOD) features of
your cable converter.
NOTE:Video On Demand is not available on all cable converters.
To check for compatibility,please refer to the owner’s manual that
came with your cable converter.When activated the VCR transport keys will serve as Video On Demand keys.
To Activate TV’s Channel Control Capabilities:
1.On the Millennium 3,press SHIFT once.
2.Press TV once.The LED will blink twice.
To Reset Channel Control To Cable Converter:
1.On the Millennium 3,press SHIFT once.
2.Press any key once,excluding TV.
To Activate Cable’s Video On Demand (Using
The VCR Transport Keys):
1.On the Millennium 3,press SHIFT once.
2.Press PLAY once.The LED wil l blink tw ice.
To Reset VCR Transport Keys for VCR Use:
1.On the Millennium 3,press SHIFT once.
2.Press and release CBL.

SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE
Ifyour TV,VCR,or Cable Converter does not respond to
the Millennium 3 after trying all of the codes listed for
your brand,or ifyour brand is not listed at all,try searching for your code.
For example,to search for a co de for your TV:
1.Turn on your TV.
2.On the Millennium 3,press and hold SETUP
until the LED blinks twice,then release SETUP.
3.Enter 9- 9 - 1.The LED will blink twice.
4.Aim the remote control at the the TV and slowly
alternate between pressing ▲▲ and TV.
Stop when the TV turns off.
NOTE:In the search mode,the Millennium 3 will
send IR codes from its library to the selected component,starting with the most popular code first.
5.Press SETUP once to lock in the code.
6.To search for the codes of other components,
repeat steps 1 through 5,but substitute the
appropriate key (i.e.,VCR or CBL) for the (VCR
or Cable) component you are searching for.

CHECKING THE CODES
Ifyou have set up the Millennium 3 using the Searching
For Your Co de procedure,you may need to find out which
four-digit code is operating your equipment:
For example,to find out which code is operating your TV:
1.Turn on your TV.
2.On the Millennium 3,press and hold SETUP
until the LED blinks twice,then release SETUP.
3.Enter 9- 9 - 0.The LED will blink twice.
4.To view the code for the first digit,press 1once.
Wait 3 seconds and count the number of LED
blinks (e.g.,3 blinks = 3) and w rite down the
number in the leftmost TV Co de box below.
NOTE:If a code digit is “0”,the LED will not blink.
5.Repeat step 4 three more times for remaining
digits.Use 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third
digit,and 4 for the fourth digit.Finish writing
down the code in the TV Code boxes below.
6.To check for the codes of other components,
repeat steps 1 through 5,but substitute the
appropriate key (i.e.,VCR or CBL) for the (VCR
or Cable) component you are checking.Write
down the codes in the appropriate boxes below.

PROGRAMMING THE OPTION KEY FOR A
SPECIFIC CHANNEL OR KEY SEQUENCE
The Millennium 3 includes one OPTION key that can be
programmed to remember up to three of your favorite
channel settings.Or you can set it to remember a
sequence ofkey presses,such as “All On /All Off”, so you
can turn on/offyour components w ith a single key press.
To program OPTION to remember channels:
1.On the Millennium 3,press and hold SETUP
until the LED blinks twice,then release SETUP.
2.Enter 9- 9 - 5.The LED will blink twice.
3.Press OPTION once.
4.Using the keypad,enter the channel number to
be remembered (e.g.,3 - 9for channel 39).
NOTE:If you are programming a channel for a
Digital Cable Converter,you need to enter all channels in a 3-digit channel format. For example,if the
desired channel is 39,then enter it as

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: LED does not blink or blinks twice when you
SOLUTION: Replace the batteries with two (2) new AA
PROBLEM: LED blinks when you press a key,but home
SOLUTION: Make sure you are aiming the Millennium 3 at
