INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Introduction
The MW1AK detects microwave leakage around doors and fittings on microwave ovens. Color coding pinpoints microwave leakage. The attached wand is easy to hold and allows detection in small spaces.
Features include
• Detects microwave leakage on microwave ovens
• Color-coded scale indicates microwave
• Attached wand is easy to hold & detects in small spaces
• mV / cm
2
• Frequency response of 2450 MHz
Safety Notes
Before using this meter, read all safety information carefully. In this manual the word "WARNING" is used to indicate conditions or actions that may pose physical hazards to the user. The word "CAUTION" is used to indicate conditions or actions that may damage this instrument.
Operating Instructions
WARNING!
Microwave ovens should not be operated when empty.
With microwave oven on, hold black end of attached probe and move white tip against the seams and seals of the oven door (Fig 1). While moving probe slowly, observe the needle located on the detector meter. If the needle remains in the green zone of the meter there is little or no leakage of microwave energy detected. If the needle moves into the yellow zone, it is recommended that the microwave oven be inspected by an authorized service agency.
The MW1AK is a detection device designed for domestic use. It has not been designed for applicator in laboratory or scientific situations
Highly potent microwave energy generated by domestic microwave ovens is capable of penetrating living tissue to a depth of approximately
1.18” (30mm). Microwaves may easily pass through porcelain, glass, ceramics, and most plastics. Do not stand or look directly into any area where microwave leakage may be present.
It is of critical importance that all microwave ovens are periodically checked to ensure that no damage or malfunction has occurred since the time your microwave first left the factory. microwave leakage around door seals, hinges and metal fittings is far from uncommon.

Periodic Service
WARNING!
Repair and service of this instrument is to be performed by qualified personnel only. Improper repair or service could result in physical degradation of the meter. This could alter the protection from electrical shock and personal injury this meter provides to the operator. Perform only those maintenance tasks that you are qualified to do.
These guidelines will help you attain long and reliable service from your meter:
• Keep your meter dry. If it gets wet, wipe dry immediately. Liquids can degrade electronic circuits
• Whenever practical, keep the meter away from dust and dirt that can cause premature wear
• Although your meter is built to withstand the rigors of daily use, it can be damaged by severe impacts. Use reasonable caution when using and storing the meter
Cleaning
Periodically clean your meter’s case using a damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasive, flammable liquids, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents as they may damage the finish, impair safety, or affect the reliability of the structural components.
