1 Intended use
This DVB-T Mini TV Stick from Typhoon is intended for DVB-T television re­ception and for watching programs on your PC with the included software.
1.1 Before use
Please read this instruction manual thoroughly before operating this device and retain it for further reference, questions and use. Following and heeding all information found in this instruction manual shall maintain this products condition and ensure safe operation. This instruction manual contains information on how to operate and maintain this device. Should a component require maintenance, servicing or repairs, then please consult a qualified dealer or service technician.

This device is not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
This device is not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Small children are unaware of the serious and immediate dangers involved when exposing themselves to or handling electronic devices. Furthermore, this product contains small parts that could be swallowed. Never leave packaging material lying around unsupervised. For children it could become a hazardous toy and lead to serious injury. Keep packaging and protective foil away from children at all times to a void the danger of suffocation.
The device should never come in contact with water or moisture.
To prevent the risk of fire or electric shock make sure that liquids, such as dripping or splashing water, rain or moisture, do not come in contact with the device and power supply plug.

Condensation can build up suddenly when this device is brought from a colder into a warmer area (e.g. when transporting). Should this happen, allow the device to warm up to room tem­perature first before using.

4.2 Batteries
The remote control requires two AAA* batteries for operation.

4.3 Inserting/Changing batteries
Carefully press the small lever in the direction of the battery compartment lid and remove carefully. Remove batteries and dispose of accordingly. Remove two new AAA batteries from their packaging and insert into the battery compartment. Ensure correct polarity as indi­cated at the bottom of the battery compartment.
For best possible results, point the remote control directly at the device. Ensure that there is not more than a distance of 5 meters between the remote control and device and that the remote control is not used at an angle of over 60 degrees.
4.4 Information on handling batteries/rechargeable batteries
Please adhere to the following information when handling batteries and rechargeable batteries:
Keep batteries out of children’s reach. Batteries are hazardous waste and do not belong in household waste. Ensure that batteries are always inserted according to the correct polarity. Always remove batteries when not in use for longer periods of time. Never leave batteries lying around unsupervised. These could pose a choking hazard to children and pets if swallowed. Seek emergency medical care immediately, should this happen. Never expose batteries to extreme temperatures, such as for example resulting from sunlight, fire or ovens. There is the risk of explosion! Make sure that batteries are not dismantled, short-circuited or are thrown into fire. Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Please follow manufacturer instructions when charging rechargeable batteries. Touching leaking or damaged batteries could cause skin burns. Use suitable protective gloves when handling such batteries. Always ensure that the device has been turned off after use. Replace all batteries at the same time. Clean battery and device contacts before inserting, where necessary. Try to avoid deep discharges when using rechargeable batteries.

5 Setup
Carry out the following setup in the stated order to ensure and guarantee proper use and performance.
5.1 Inserting a CD
Take the included CD and insert it into your disk drive. If an automatic setup does not start after insertion, you can carry out a manual setup with the file „Autorun.exe“. Double-click on the file in Explorer. As an alternative, you can select via the start button in Windows „Run“ and then enter „D: \Autorun.exe“, whereby „D“ stands for the drive containing the CD.
5.2 Driver installation
Select „Install Driver” in the start menu to begin with the installation, following the instructions that appear on display.

Select „TotalMedia 3.5” setup in the start menu to begin with the installation. Now follow the information that ap­pears on screen to complete the setup process.

5.4 Connecting the DVB-T Mini TV Stick
Carefully plug the connector on the antenna into the adapter. Now carefully plug the adapter into the DVB-T Mini TV Stick. The DVB-T Mini TV Stick can now be inserted into a free USB

6.2 Main menu
The main menu offers the following options:
TV – provides access to the TV menu option
DVD – provides access to the DVD menu option
Pictures – provides access to the image menu option
Music – provides access to the music menu option
Video – provides access to the video menu option
Setup – provides access to the menu for different setting options

In this menu you can select between:
Full screen – enlarges the television picture
EPG – opens the electronic program guide

6.3.1 Channel scan
After entering the TV menu for the first time, the setup assistant for scanning channels will automatically start.
Click on „Next” to continue.
Select the region in which you are in.

The blue progress bar indicates the current scanning process. Please note that the scanning process may take several min-

6.3.2 Full screen
This option displays an enlarged TV picture.

6.3.3 EPG
Select this option to enter the electronic program guide function. Once selected a general view of channels and a list of their cur­rently transmitted/available programs will be displayed.
To the right you will be able to see the program list of the current selected channel. A miniature view of the selected channel’s cur­rent program can be seen on the bottom left side of the screen. A small description of the selected channel’s current program or of the selected program within the program list can be seen at the bottom right of the screen.
If you select a different channel, you will switch over to this station in the TV menu.

Once a program has been selected within the program list, the screen will switch over to a larger size for viewing.
Click on „Record” to add this program to the schedule for recording.

6.3.4 Channel list
Select this menu option for a general view of stations.
You can use „Add to favourites/Delete from favourites” to set and manage your favourite channels.
These channels will be marked with a star. After selecting a chan­nel, press the „OK” button on the remote control for a thumbnail view of that channel’s broadcasted program. Under the option „Channel Type” you will be able to set which stations are to be dis­played in the channel list. Confirm all settings by clicking on „OK” and to return to the TV menu mode. Please note that if the option „Cancel” has been selected you will return to a TV menu mode without storing settings/changes previ­ously made.
6.3.5 Recorded TV

This option provides access to the „Recorded TV” directory that you have already configured in the main menu found under Set­tings › General › Video Recording Memory.
This default directory depends on the operating system that you are using. The name of the folder in which you are currently lo­cated can be seen at the top of the screen. You can use the arrow located next to this to search for a different folder.

With the option „Burn to Disc” you can burn the selected file to a storage medium. The option „Settings” offers various settings for
file playback.
A thumbnail view of the selected file can be seen at the bottom left of the screen. The icon located next to this window can be used to switch to a full screen mode.The window to the bottom right of the screen displays various file information.
6.3.6 Schedule
In this menu option you will be able to program recordings.

Click on „Add” to add a program to the schedule.

Select a channel that you would like to record under the option „Channel”. In the field box „Program Name” enter the name of the
file under which your recording is to be stored. The option „Fre­quency” lets you set how often the channel is to be recorded (e.g. daily).
Now you can enter the day on which the recording is to take place in the field box „Date”. In the fields „Start Time” and „Stop Time” you can set the desired starting and ending time of the channel to be recorded.
Recordings will be stored in the „Recorded TV” directory that you have previously configured in the main menu found under Settings
› General › Video Recording Memory.
Select a schedule recording under the option „Modify”. Following this, you have the opportunity to modify/change the recording date.

Recordings that have already been completed can be seen under the menu option „History”.
6.3.7 Teletext
Select this option to enter the teletext menu mode. This service

may not be supported by all stations and may vary according to the station being watched. Click on „Live TV” to switch to the
channel in a TV menu mode. The option „Full Screen” switches to an enlarged view. Click on „Teletext Home” to launch the selected channel’s start screen. The coloured field boxes located under the teletext start screen offer various options. Use the arrows „up/down” to scroll to the next/previous page. If there is no page available or signal recognition fails, then teletext information for this page will not be displayed. The numeric buttons on the remote control or the keys on your keyboard can be used to enter a page directly.

6.3.8 Settings
This menu offers different setting options for TV channels. After entering this menu you will be asked if you would like to continue on, as any modification and/or changes made will affect ongoing and programmed recordings.
If you would like to start a channel scan once again, click on the „Reset TV Signal” option.
The menu option „Edit Channels” gives you the opportunity to edit channel names, delete or move channels to a different program location. Using the garbage can icon to delete a channel will permanently remove it from your program list. The „LCN” (Local Channel Number) option is a program location number automati­cally allocated to a station during scanning.

The menu option „TV Settings” lets you change different settings found within available functions, as for example displaying sub­titles.
The menu option „Import/Export Channel List” lets you either load a program list from or store a program list in a file. Choose the respective file (*.chl) in the browser or store by entering a name for your program list.

6.4 DVD
Select this menu to watch DVDs.Insert the medium into the drive and choose „DVD”. Reading will begin once a medium has been inserted.
6.4.1 Full screen
This option can be used to enlarge the viewing image.
Select „Full Screen” or double-click on the picture to switch through the different picture enlargement levels (thumbnail, win­dow and full screen size).
6.4.2 DVD menu
Select this option to switch from the film on screen to the DVD menu.

6.4.3 Frame capture
This option allows you to capture a snapshot of the current scene.
These snapshots will be stored in the previously configured folder found under Settings › General › Frame Storage.
6.4.4 Eject
This option stops playback and opens the drive so that the me­dium can be removed.

6.4.5 Settings
This menu offers different setting options for DVDs. Click on „Audio” to select a certain sound (e.g. 2 Speakers – Stereo). Confirm your selection with „Save”.
The menu option „Language” lets you set/change settings such as subtitle languages, audio tracks and/or the menu language on a medium.
Under the option „Parental Control” you will be able to select one of the various parental guidance rating levels suitable to your needs. You will also be able to set a password under the option „Set Password”. This password will be required each time you try to access this menu item. After selecting this menu option enter your password and confirm by entering it once more. Please choose a password that you can remember easily!

The following parental rating levels are available: Not Rated G (General Audience: proved suitable for audiences of all ages) PG (Parental Guidance Suggested: adult accompaniment recommended) PG-13 (Parents Strongly Cautioned: not suitable for children under the age of 13) R Restricted: adolescents under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult) NC-17 (No admission for adolescents under the age of 17)
Under the option „Frame Storage” you will be able to set where captured snapshots of the currently viewed scene are to be stored.
The option „Auto-Resume” lets you set where playback is to resume after pausing.

6.5 Pictures
In this menu option you have various ways of viewing, editing or storing pictures on a medium.
Click on „Play” to start a slideshow. You can also click on › to start a slideshow once an image has been selected. A slideshow can be stopped with „Stop”, „Esc” or with a double-click. Pause a slide­show with „Pause” or by using the space bar on your computer. Resume a slideshow with „Pause“, „Play“ or by using the space bar. Under the menu option „Settings” you will be able to set dif­ferent display and effect settings during a slideshow.
Select the option „Print“ to send selected pictures to your printer. Highlight an image to be printed and click on „Next”. Now select the picture and paper size and then the number of copies required. With the „Print Preview” option you will be able to view how pictures will be printed out ahead of time. If you are satisfied with the settings made, click on „Print” to start printing.

Click on the option „Edit” to open a toolbar that can be used for editing pictures. You will be able to use this toolbar to rotate and enlarge/minimize pictures, to select an automatic touch-up function to improve pictures, to remove red eyes or crop pictures, to view the next/previous image, to delete pictures or to even close the „Edit” menu mode.
To copy pictures to a medium, select the option „Burn to Disc”. First select the pictures that you would like to copy to the medium and then click on „Next” to proceed. Now you can select whether pictures are to be archived as a presentation, pre­sentation with an archive of the original files or if original pictures are only to be archived. After all settings have been made, click on „Start” to start the burning process.
The options „View” and „Sort” let you change the order in which pictures are sorted and the information displayed along with pictures

6.6 Music
Select this option to either listen to songs, copy and store songs on a CD to a medium or to burn songs from your hard disk to a CD.
Select a song that you would like to listen to. View a selection of your playlists by selecting the „My Playlists” option.
Open the option „Create Playlist” if you would like to create a new playlist. You can add your favourite songs to a playlist via the „Select” option in your browser. After you’ve added all of your favourite songs to the playlist, click on „Next”. Now you will see a list of songs that you have added to your playlist. You still have the opportunity to add or delete songs from your playlist, before clicking on the „Save” option to store. Choose one of your stored playlists to view the songs listed within. You will now be able to listen to these.
You can use „Edit Music Directory” to edit songs within a playlist and „Burn to Disc” to add all songs on a playlist to a burn process.
Choose „Rip Music CD” to copy and convert songs on an audio CD into a digital format. Highlight all of the songs you’d like to convert and click on „Copy”.

Select the option „Settings” if you would like to make a change within the various settings available for converting.
Click on the option „Burn to Disc” to open a window to create a CD. First highlight all of the songs to be copied to the medium and then click on „Next” to pro­ceed. A list of the songs selected for this burning process will be displayed. You still have the opportunity to add, delete or move songs. Once satisfied with your selection, you can click on „Burn to Disc” to start the burning process.
The options „Music Genre” and „Sort” let you filter or sort songs in different ways.

6.7 Video
This menu option lets you watch videos, record videos to your hard disk or burn videos to a disc.
Select a file that you would like to watch.
Choose „Capture” to create videos from connected recording de­vices.
With „Burn to Disc” you can create a VCD or DVD. Highlight all of the video files that you would like to burn to a disk. After your se­lection has been completed, click on „Burn to Disc”.
Select the option „Settings” if subtitles are to be displayed. Under the setting „Video Settings” you have the choice between different available settings, for example settings pertaining to your record-

6.7.1 Video editing
This tool lets you edit your video files in an easy way.
1 Select a preferred viewing option representative, for example by DVDs, for displaying chapters. 2 Skip to the previous/next range. 3 Set the cut-in and cut-out segments (start and end points) of a selected range. 4 Remove all ranges. 5 Remove the previously set range/add the previously removed range again. 6 The green ranges represent the areas that will later become at part of your video 7 The red ranges displayed with a scissors icon are the edited areas that will be skipped over/not be played back later on.
Edit your video files as desired and click on „Save” to store and return to a video menu mode. In the future, your video

6.8 Settings
In this menu option you will be able to carry out a number of settings.
6.8.1 General
This menu item lets you carry out general hardware and memory location settings.
Under the setting option „Disc Creation” you can determine what picture format, drive for recording, recording format or desired audio format is to be used.
Select the setting „Printer” to choose the printer that you’d like to use.
Under „Frame Storage” you can set where screenshots are to be

stored as a standard and in which file format this should be done.
The setting „Video Recording Storage” can be selected to set where video files are to be recorded as a standard and quality in which this should be done. Various image and graphical settings can be carried out under the option „Display Settings”.
The setting „About TotalMedia” supplies information about the current software version and on updating.

6.8.2 TV settings
This menu offers different TV setting options.
After entering this menu you will be asked if you would like to continue on, as any modification and/or changes made will affect ongoing and programmed recordings.
Start a channel scan once again by clicking on the „Reset TV Sig­nal” option.
The menu option „Edit Channels” gives you the opportunity to edit channel names, delete or move channels to a different program location. Using the garbage can icon to delete a channel will permanently remove it from your program list. The „LCN” (Local Channel Number) option is a program location number automati­cally allocated to a station during scanning.

The menu option „TV Settings” lets you change different settings found within available functions, as for example displaying sub­titles.
The menu option „Import/Export Channel List” lets you either load a program list from or store a program list in a file. Choose the respective file (*.chl) in the browser or store by entering a name for your program list.

6.8.3 DVD settings
In this menu you can carry out various settings for DVDs.
Click on „Audio” to select a certain sound (e.g. 2 Speakers – Ste­reo). Confirm your selection with „Save”.
The menu option „Language” lets you set/change settings such as subtitle languages, audio tracks and/or the menu language on a medium.
Under the option „Parental Control” you will be able to select one of the various parental guidance rating levels suitable to your needs. You will also be able to set a password under the option „Set Password”. This password will be required each time you try to access this menu item. After selecting this menu option enter your password and confirm by entering it once more. Please choose a password that you can remember easily!

Under the option „Frame Storage” you will be able to set where captured snapshots of the currently viewed scene are to be stored.
The option „Auto-Resume” lets you set where playback is to resume after being paused.

6.8.4 Video settings
Select this option if subtitles are to be displayed. Under the setting „Video Settings” you have the choice between different available settings, for example settings pertaining to your recording device or the video standard.
6.8.5 Pictures settings
Here you will be able to set different display and effect settings for a slideshow.
6.8.6 Music settings
This option provides various settings regarding music playback. Under the option „CD Set-
tings” there are further settings for creating music from an audio CD, e.g. for selecting the desired quality.

7 Information on CDs and DVDs
Handling CDs and DVDs
Do not touch the playback side of discs. Hold by the edges without touching the recording surface, so that finger prints do not come in contact with discs. Never stick paper or use tape on discs.
Storing CDs
After you are finished playing a CD, please replace and store it in its respective cover. Never expose discs to direct sunlight, sources of heat or high temperatures. Never leave discs in a car exposed to direct sunlight.
Cleaning CDs
Finger prints and dust found on a CD may be the reason for poor picture or sound quality. Before playing a CD, carefully wipe off finger prints and dust with a clean cloth. Please clean
in an inwards to outwards motion.
Never use any solvents or chemicals, such as alcohol, benzine, thinners, any commercially available cleaners or antistatic sprays for records to clean discs.
Never use irregularly shaped CDs (e.g. orthogonal or heart-shaped). Such types can lead to or cause malfunctions. Never attach any seals, adhesive labels or stickers to discs (either on the labelled or recorded side).

Depending on the drive used or on the CD-R/RW (or DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD­RW, DVD+RW) itself, there is the possibility that some discs may not be playback compatible with this device.
Manufacturers may have already intentionally pro­grammed playback func­tions on some DVD and Video CDs. This device plays software manu­facturer DVDs and Video CDs according to content. Therefore, it is possible that some playback functions may not be available or ad­ditional functions may be available for use.

8 Troubleshooting
The device you have just purchased is equipped with state-of-the-art tech­nology and is safe to operate. Nevertheless, problems or malfunctions may occur.
Before contacting a service technician, refer to the following possible solutions:
Program start does not take place or playback is not possible
Update or install software again
Distorted sound or no sound is audible
Check if everything has been connected properly.
The remote control is not working
Check if the batteries have been inserted correctly. If batteries are empty, replace them with new ones. Point the remote control to the remote sensor and press to operate. Remove any objects found between the remote control and the remote sensor. Make sure the distance between the remote control and the device does not exceed 5 m.

Buttons do not function (on the device and/or remote control)
Turn the device off and then on again. As an alternative, turn the device off, unplug it from the power outlet and plug in again. (The device may also not be functioning due to a stroke of lightning, static electricity or other external factors.).

Distorted/Noisy reception or no picture
The reception frequency has not been set properly. The antenna is not adjusted properly. Try positioning the antenna somewhere else. Start an automatic channel scan.
A CD/DVD is not recognized/supported
Check if – the disc is deformed. – the disc is damaged, scratched or has become dirty. – the disc has the correct regional code.

Maintenance
Carry out a technical safety inspection on a regular basis, e.g. check if the power cable or housing may have become damaged. If there is reason to believe that the device can no lon­ger be operated safely, then disconnect it immediately from the power supply and secure it against any unintentional operation.

It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, if:
– there is visible damage to the device, – the device no longer works, – it has been stored for a longer period of time under unfavourable conditions – or exposed to rigorous transport conditions.
Always adhere to the following safety instructions before cleaning or servicing

Live parts may be exposed, if the covering is opened or parts are removed.
The device must be disconnected from the power supply source prior to service, mainte­nance or repairs.
Capacitors within the device may still carry voltage even though they have been discon­nected from all power supply sources.
Transporting or sending the device
Please retain the original box and the packaging material in case you need to transport or send the device out for maintenance at a later date. Please note that the device should be repacked in the original packaging. The box and packaging have been especially developed for this device in order to protect it during transport and against damage. Retain this in­struction manual for future reference and where required pass it along with the device if handed over to a third party, as it contains important setup and handling information.

Keeping the external case clean
