Important Safety Instructions
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
This manual contains important instructions that should be
followed during the installation, operation and storage of this
product. Failure to heed these warnings may affect the warranty.
• DO NOT connect to an ungrounded outlet.
• DO NOT use with 2-wire extension cords or adapters.
• Install your surge protector indoors, away from excessive moisture, heat and dust.
• Install the surge protector away from heat-emitting appliances such as radiators or
heat registers.
• Do not use with aquariums.
• Do not plug extension cords into the surge protector.
• Never install electrical, telephone, network or coaxial wiring during a lightning
storm.
• Do not drill into any part of the housing or open the housing for any reason. There
are no user-serviceable parts inside.
• Use of this equipment in life support applications where failure of this equipment
can reasonably be expected to cause the failure of the life support equipment or to
significantly affect its safety or effectiveness is not recommended.
Installation
Mount Your Surge Protector (Optional Installation): If desired, mount your surge
protector on a wall or other sturdy, vertical surface. However, you must mount the
surge protector prior to connecting your equipment. Place a sheet of paper over the
surge protector’s mounting holes and mark their centers with a push pin. Next, place
this template over the desired area and mark with the push pins. Install screws (user
supplied) into the marks until ¼ in. (0.5 cm) of the screw heads are exposed. Mount
the surge protector over the screw heads and slide into place.
Connect Your Surge Protector to the AC Power Line: Plug the surge protector’s
power cord into a standard, 3-wire grounded 120V AC, 60 Hz. outlet.
Turn Your Surge Protector ON: Press the surge protector’s power switch until it
illuminates, indicating the unit is connected to AC input power.
Check Your Surge Protector’s Diagnostic Indicator Lights: Check the LEDs prior
to connecting your equipment. They will indicate various operating conditions when
the surge protector is plugged into a live 120V AC outlet and the surge protector’s
power switch is on.
“PROTECTION PRESENT” LED:
power and the surge suppression components are intact and providing complete
protection against surges. If this LED does not illuminate, see Troubleshooting
section.

“FAULT” LED: Indicates faulty wall outlet wiring (improper site wiring, ground is
missing, etc.). If this LED illuminates, see Troubleshooting section.
Note: This LED will illuminate in the presence of most common wiring faults— even a loose
wall outlet—but not necessarily every possible type of fault.
“LINE OK” LED: Indicates the unit is connected to AC input power, the switch
is in the ON position, and the wall outlet is properly wired. If this LED does not
illuminate, see Troubleshooting section.
Connect Your Equipment to the Surge Protector’s AC Outlets: Plug your
equipment’s power cords into the surge protector’s AC outlets. Special pairs of
outlets (Isolated Filter Banks) provide an extra level of filtering between components.
For example, if you plug a receiver into an Isolated Filter Bank outlet, it will not be
affected by interference generated by a DVD player connected elsewhere on the
surge protector. Every outlet pair (two outlets, one above the other, separated by a
screw) is an Isolated Filter Bank. All models feature special widely-spaced outlets to
accommodate transformers without covering other outlets. DO NOT plug in extension
cords. DO NOT OVERLOAD the surge protector’s outlets. The surge protector can
accommodate a total equipment load of up to 12 amps (whether plugged into a
single outlet or spread out over multiple outlets). If the load on the surge protector
exceeds 12 amps, the circuit breaker* will trip and the outlets will stop providing
power. If the circuit breaker trips, reduce the load by unplugging some devices.
Depress the circuit breaker or switch to reset the breaker and restore power.
* Circuit breakers are integrated into the power switch on select models and of fered as a
separate feature on other models.
Connect Your Equipment to the Surge Protector’s USB Charging Ports: Two
USB charging ports deliver up to 5V 3.1A of shared power, enough to charge the most
demanding devices, including tablets, smartphones and MP3 players.
Note: The charging por ts are controlled by the master power switch on the unit.
