Tripp Lite Network-Grade Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
Tripp Lite Network-Grade PDUs are highly reliable multiple-outlet strips that distribute power from a UPS system, generator or utility wall outlet to multiple devices. Tripp Lite offers three separate types of rackmount PDUs (see selector guide, below) with features and benefits to match every application—networking, server, telecom and more.

Multiple Outlets Increase the number of devices that

Using a Tripp Lite UPS System as Power Source Input
The most common application for a PDU is to distribute UPS System power to connected computer equipment. The table below shows common outlet types and a partial list of Tripp Lite UPS Systems that include each outlet type.

Application #1: Adding More Outlets to a UPS System
Applicable Tripp Lite PDUs: All Models
Description: PDU plugs into UPS system outlet. PDU increases total number of outlets powered by the UPS system (from 6 to 18 in this example. Additional front panel outlet not shown.).

Application #2: Converting a Single High-Amperage Outlet into Multiple Low-Amperage Outlets
Applicable Tripp Lite PDUs: Models with High-Amperage Plugs
Description: PDU plugs into UPS system's high-amperage outlet (30-amp L5-30R outlet in this example). PDU increases total number of low-amperage outlets powered by the UPS system (from 8 to 32 in this example; additional 12 front panel outlets not shown).

Application #3: Remotely Controlling Individual Outlets (via SNMP,Web or Telnet)
Applicable Tripp Lite PDUs: All Switched Models
Description: PDU's Ethernet port connects to network wall jack.
Remote user controls power to PDU outlets for a variety of purposes. Benefits include rebooting locked devices to reduce the frequency of costly service calls and turning off nonessential loads during blackouts to extend battery backup runtime for critical devices.

Application #4: Distributing Facility UPS/Generator Power to Multiple Outlets

Description: PDU plugs into a wall outlet supported by facility UPS/generator power. PDU distributes power to equipment via 16 outlets. (All PDU models support facility UPS/generator applications, including all available PDU features.)
