GUIDANCE

Obtain guidance in a field by first defining a reference swath, known as an A-B line. The AgGPS®lightbar follows this line, providing guidance in parallel lines at swath-width intervals. To define an A-B line:
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3
At the start of new field, clear old guidance points by pressing:
2
4
+
Then choose one of the following:
NEW A-B: Set new A and B guidance points (e.g, when spraying a new field)
NEW A+: Set new A point and keep existing heading (e.g, when spraying fields with parallel orientation).
by pressing
3
to select the desired option.
When the lightbar displays the desired option, press
5
to choose that pattern.
Drive to the start of the A-B line and press
2
1
+
to set the “A” point.
Drive to the other end of reference swath and press
1
to set the “B” point.
Tip: If visibility is low, select NEW A-B and set your swath direction on a parallel access road.
Then use the NEW A+ pattern to set the A point for the first swath in the field.
Turn left or right for the next swath – the lightbar will automatically guide you.
Steer your vehicle to center the green lights in the middle of the lightbar and drive forward down the pass.
The large, central LED indicates where you are in relation to the swath line:
• GREEN – inside the spray zone. Turn the boom on when the LED turns green
• RED – outside the spray zone. Turn the boom off when the LED turns red.
• ORANGE – approaching the spray zone boundary (either direction). Prepare to turn the boom on or off. Warning distance is 20 ft.

To calculate the area of your field drive to each corner of the field and press:

A new area value is displayed each time the key is pressed. The area is calculated from outside of application boom.
Tip: Spray a headland around your field and set area points to calculate area at the same time.
Acreage calculations take the current swath width into account, so you should drive a half-swath in from the field edge. Area points may be added in both Guidance mode and Area mode.
To achieve the desired brightness level, press and hold:
The lightbar guides back to the pause point. To resume normal guidance press:

SWATH GUIDANCE MODES

SNAP-TO-SWATH MODE

Snap-to-swath mode is the default mode for the EZ-Guide system. In this mode, the lightbar automatically guides you to the closest swath. Simply turn left or right at the end of a swath, and the lightbar “snaps” to the next swath once you cross halfway between swath passes.

MANUAL SWATH MODE

By setting the SNAPSWTH option to OFF, you can control which swath you are being guided to. In this mode, use the INC/DEC keys to change the current swath number—the lightbar will guide you to this swath only, no matter how far
away from it you are.
This mode is useful for vehicles with turning circles too large to easily line up on each incrementing swath. For example, you could use manual mode to spray every second swath across your field, and then spray the remainder on a return pass.

GUIDANCE WITH HEADLANDS

Adding area points around the outside of a field also
6
creates a headland boundary at the edge of the inner boom. When approaching the end of a swath, the EZGuide system will use this headland boundary instead of the end-zone defined by the A and B points to indicate when you are approaching the end of the swath. For regular guidance, the large central LED shows green, orange, or red depending on where you are in the spray zone.

THE ALARM

If connected, the alarm sounds at various times during a swathing operation to indicate the following conditions.
On entering or leaving the spray zone (as defined by the A-B end-zone, or by a defined headlands area)
On drifting too far off swath (can be configured with the WARNDIST option)
On returning to the current swath while guidance is paused
On losing a differential GPS position (can be configured with the DIFF GPS option)
Configuration settings may alter the alarm behavior
