Cleaning
BOTH the amplier and any cable modem in your installation MUST
be TURNED OFF during the entire installation. Also refer to section 6.
Please read this quick guide thoroughly before installing your new indoor
cable television distribution amplier.
The amplier is for use by consumers who have cable TV or a private antenna connection, where there is a need to distribute the signal to several
rooms / connection sockets or to amplify the signal. The two variants, IFA
284 and IFA 288 can distribute TV/radio signals to 4 and 8 TV sets and/or
radios, respectively
The amplier is approved for use with YouSee Ready and Stofa Approved
installations, and supports radio, TV and internet via cable television distribution, from all sockets.
The amplier can be wiped down with a dry or slightly damp cloth, but
should not be exposed to direct water or moisture.
The amplier should be fastened securely with screws on a non-combustible wall via the two middle screw-holes on either side of the base unit.

Safety
NOTE: If the amplier is placed further away from an electrical outlet
than the xed cord is able to reach, use an approved network extension
cord or let a qualied electrician connect the power. TV can be watched
once the installation of the amplier is completed, connected to the
mains and turned on.

NOTE:
Find a suitable location to position the amplier. We recommend placing it in the immediate vicinity of the rst antenna outlet in your house/
apartment and near apower outlet. We suggest installing approx. 120 mm
above the floor ( optional).

Private antenna
If you use the amplier with a private antenna where no wall outlet plate is
installed, then connect the cable coming from the selective antenna amplier
directly to the input of the amplier. Try and keep the cable as short as possible
and install the amplier where there is easy access to a power outlet.

Mark the screw holes on the wall, 230 mm apart (Figure 1a-b-c-d).
Ensure the holes are placed at least 120 mm above the floor or skirting board
so that there is adequate space for the antenna and mains cabling.
The amplier is designed so that all cables point downwards for easy cable
management

Remember to calculate the necessary space for good cable management.
Antenna cables SHOULD NOT be sharply bent around corners which may
cause signal interference. Always ensure the antenna cables are not bent
to a radius of less than 35 mm (min. 5 x cable thickness)
min.

Strip the end of the antenna cable as shown in
the gures.To prevent interference to your TV
picture ensure that none of the ne threads of
the outer sleeve touch the inner copper wire

Signal out
IFA 284 has four signal outputs. IFA 288 has 8 signal outputs.
The ampliers use self- terminated output connectors which eliminates the
need for additional termination of unused outputs.
Assemble an F-connector at one end of the
cable at the amplier’s input .
Remember to read the instructions about
assembling connectors.

Distribution
Run cable from the amplier outputs, labelled , to the required location of
your TV or radio. You may choose to use an IEC connector for direct connec-
tion to a TV (IEC male) or FM radio (IEC female), or you may end in an antenna
socket from which you can connect a TV or radio via a connection cable. The
end of the distribution antenna cable, which is connected to the amplier, must
be tted with an F-connector (as shown previously) and attached to the ampli

er output(s)
