TRIAX 2010 IMPACT TEST SYSTEM
SPHERICAL HEAD FORM REFERENCE PROCEDURE
REVISION 1 June 17, 2016
GENERAL:
The Triax 2010 User Manual document details the Triax 2010 Verification Procedure in Appendix A. When using the spherical head form the verification procedure is still required, and a special fixture is provided with each spherical head form system to assist in establishing the head form height above the reference mat.

USE OF FIXTURE:
This fixture consists of a quick release mechanism with a hook to allow the mechanism to be suspended from a suitable structure, such as a Triax system tripod. Also included are two wire rope lanyards connected by a metal ring.
WARNING: DO NOT USE THE TRIPOD TO SUPPORT THE SPHERICAL HEAD FORM DURING NORMAL TESTING. THE IMPACT OF THE TEST ARTICLE WILL CAUSE THE TRIPOD TO FALL CAUSING DAMAGE AND PERSONAL INJURY.
To perform the verification test, the quick release mechanism is securely suspended, using a suitable cable or other means, from a structure sufficient to hold the weight of the head form. The loops at the free end of the lanyards are threaded through the eye hooks of the head form, and the metal ring which connects the lanyards is clipped into the quick release mechanism. To facilitate the connection between the metal ring and the release mechanism actuate the lever on the release mechanism which will open the part of the mechanism that normally grips the metal ring. Gently release the head form allowing the release mechanism and lanyards to support the head form. Adjust the length of the cable supporting the release mechanism so that the bottom of the head form is 36 inches (91.5 cm) above the top surface of the reference mat. The verification procedure can be performed as detailed in Appendix A of the manual.
