INTENDED USE

TC and HSS tools. For professional and
domestic use.
Use with Diamond Abrasive Lapping Fluid
(water can be used if necessary), this will
prevent the diamonds becoming clogged with
swarf.
SAFETY
Please read and understand the instructions
before use.
PLEASE KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN A
SAFE PLACE.
Users must be competent in using
woodworking equipment before using our
products.
All cutting edges are very sharp and care
must be taken to prevent injury. Never
sharpen blades towards the hand or body.
GUIDELINES
Diamond whetstones allow fast, clean stock removal,
with less effort and time required and can be used on a
variety of cutting edges.
When using diamond whetstones, certain general
guidelines should be followed to ensure that the
whetstone will give lasting performance under normal
conditions.
Follow the hints and tips explained here to help
maximise the life of your whetstone:
I All tooling should be cleaned before sharpening.
Resin build-up should be removed with Resin
Cleaner and a wire brush.
I The whetstones require a 'break-in' period. Initially
the diamond will feel coarse and will smooth over
time.
I Do not apply too much pressure. The diamond is
extremely abrasive so what would normally take 510 minutes on an oilstone may take approximately
20 seconds on the Diamond whetstone.
I Dry the whetstone thoroughly after use. Any wet
steel filings left on the stone after using water will
cause rust to form!

OPERATION
Router Cutters/Bits
Suggested - CR/DWS/CC/FC, CR/DWS/F4/FC,
CR/DWS/B6/FC
Fine For Tungsten Carbide cutters/bits
Coarse For High Speed Steel cutters/bits
I Always sharpen the flat face, never the
profile/relief.
I Slide the cutter with slight pressure
along the whetstone. Repeat same
number of strokes on each cutting edge.
Circular Sawblades
Suggested - CR/DWS/CC/FC
CR/DWS/F4/FC
Fine For regular maintenance
Coarse For dull blades
I Keep the diamond
surface flat to the
face of saw tooth.
I Use a few light, smooth, back and forth
strokes on each tooth. Repeat the same
number of strokes on each tooth. Mark
the first tooth sharpened with chalk or
masking tape to avoid honing a second
time.

ACCESSORY
Diamond Abrasive Lapping Fluid
Ref. DWS/LF/100, DWS/LF/250, DWS/LF/500
I Suitable for use with all
diamond abrasive
products.
I Use instead of water to
reduce the threat of
rusting by 95%.
I Reduces possibility of
Harmful (Xn)
clogging the diamond
surface. Improves
diamond stone durability
and overall performance.
I Place whetstone level with the upright
single bevel.
I Stroke gently to sharpen along the curve of
the blade, towards the outside of the tool.
Test cuts on a branch or stem confirm
sufficient sharpness.
I Keep the bevel of the chisel/plane iron flat
on the whetstone. It is recommended to
use a figure of eight motion when
sharpening chisels.
I Finish with one light stroke on the back of
the chisel.
I The bevel on the back of the gouge
should be flat on the whetstone. The
gouge should then be rolled gently on the
whetstone to hone.
I Small tools should be honed as per
chisels and pointed tools as per gouges.
I Keep same angle as knife bevel on the
whetstone. The angle is 20° for most
knives.
20
∞
I Stroke away from the body, alternating on
each side of the knife. Light strokes will
produce a finer edge.
I Align whetstone flush with the bright bevel.
I Stroke smoothly
towards the outside of
the scissors. Repeat
on the other blade.
I Small burr on the
sliding blade face can
be removed with a
light stroke.
DIAMOND WHETSTONE
MAINTENANCE
Continual satisfactory operation depends upon
proper tool care and regular cleaning.
Cleaning
I Clean with a damp cloth or use with a Trend
cleaning block Ref. DWS/CB/A.
Storage
I Do not store the whetstones in damp
conditions.
I After use store the diamond stone in a
drawer or cupboard.
