Features
AutoCross
The AutoCross™ feature allows either straight-through (MDI) or crossover (MDI-X) cables to be used when connecting to 10Base-TX devices (hubs, transceivers, NICs, etc.). AutoCross determines the characteristics of the cable connection and automatically configures the unit to link up, regardless of the cable configuration. (Requires no operator intervention).
LinkAlert
Because most Ethernet™ technologies are unable to recognize downlink faults, a failed link may appear normal to network management; requiring unnecessary troubleshooting. When the LinkAlert™ feature is activated, the media converter passes copper-side link faults to the fiber side and fiber-side links to the copper-side. This feature allows all faults to be detected by network management.
NOTE: An enable/disable switch allows the LinkAlert™ feature to be disabled. LinkAlert™ may interfere with the Auto-Negotiation feature of other devices in networks where there are two media converters installed in series.
