Warning:
• The main plug is used as disconnect device and it
should be located in such a manner that it can be easily
unplugged in case the product requires service. In order
to disconnect the apparatus from the main completely,
the main plug should be disconnected from the main
socket outlet completely.
• The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or
splashing and that no objects filled with liquid, such as
vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
• Alwaysleaveaspaceof atleast4 (four)inchesaround
the apparatus. The slots and openings are provided
to protect the apparatus from overheating and to help
maintain reliable operation.
• Keep the product away from direct sunlight, extreme
cold, or heat sources such as a heater. This may reduce
the life of the product.

6. Clean only with a dry cloth.
7. Do not block any of the ventilation openings. Install in
accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators,
heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including
amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or
grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades
with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug
has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide
blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If
the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult
an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or
pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles,
and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
14. Do not overload wall outlets; extension cords, or
integral convenience receptacles as this can result in
a risk of fire or electric shock.
15. Never expose the apparatus to dripping or splashing or
place items such as vases, aquariums, any other item

16. Keep your fingers well clear of the disc tray as it is
closing. Neglecting to do so may cause serious

Never place the unit:

The slots and openings are provided to protect the

19. Do not use a cracked, deformed, or repaired disc.
These discs are easily broken and may cause serious
personal injury and apparatus malfunction.
20. If the apparatus should emit smoke or an unusual odor,
immediately disconnect the power cord from the wall
outlet. Wait until the smoke or smell stops, then ask
your dealer for a check and repair. Neglecting to do so
may cause fire.
21. During thunderstorms, do not touch the connecting
cables or the apparatus.
22. Warning: To prevent spread of fire, keep candles or
other open flames away from this product at all times.

PRECAUTIONS
• For stubborn dirt, soak the cloth in a weak detergent
solution, wring well and wipe. Use a dry cloth to wipe it
dry. Do not use any type of solvent, such as thinners and
benzene, as they may damage the surface of the unit.

Moisture condensation damages the Blu-ray Disc™
and Online Media Player. Please read the following
carefully:
Moisture condensation occurs during the following
cases.
Notes on cleaning
This unit is a high technology, precision device. If the
optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts become dirty or
worn down, the picture quality may be reduced. To avoid
reduction in picture quality, it is recommended that regular
inspection and maintenance (cleaning or parts replacement)
be performed every 1,000 hours of use. For further details,
contact your nearest consumer electronics dealer.
• Moisture condensation occurs, for example, when you
pour a cold drink into a glass on a warm day.
• Dropsofwaterformontheoutsideoftheglass.
• Inthesameway,moisturemaycondenseontheoptical
pick-up lens inside this unit, one of the most crucial
internal parts of the unit.
• Whenyoubringthe unit directly fromacoldplaceto a
warm place.
• Whenyouusetheunitinaroomwhereyoujustturned
on the heater, or a place where the cold wind from the air
conditioner directly hits the unit.
• Insummer,whenyouusetheplayerinahotandhumid
place just after you move the unit from an air conditioned
room.
• Whenyouusetheplayerinahumidplace.
Do not handle the AC power cord with wet hands and do
not put your fingers or objects into the unit.
When connecting or disconnecting the AC power cord,
grip the plug and not the cord itself. Pulling the cord may
damage it and create a hazard.
When you are not going to use the unit for a long period of
time, disconnect the AC power cord.
This unit’s packaging materials are recyclable and can be
reused. Please dispose of any materials in accordance with
your local recycling regulations.
Batteries should never be thrown away or incinerated but
disposed of in accordance with your local regulations
concerning chemical wastes.
Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
• When shipping the unit, the original shipping carton
and packing materials come in handy. For maximum
protection, repack the unit as it was originally packed at
the factory. Take care not to give it a shock or shake when
carrying.
• Donotusevolatileliquids,suchasinsectspray,nearthe
unit. Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact
with this unit for a long time. They will leave marks on the
finish.
• The top and rear panels of theunit maybecomewarm
after a long period of use. This is not a malfunction.
• Whentheunitisnotinuse,besuretoremovethedisc
and turn off the power.
• Ifyoudonotusetheunitforalongperiod,theunitmay
not function properly in the future. Turn on and use the
unit occasionally.
Place the unit on a level surface. Do not use it on a shaky
or unstable surface such as a wobbling table or inclined
stand. The loaded disc may come off the proper position
and cause damage to the unit.
When you place this unit near a TV, radio, or VCR, the
playback picture may become poor and the sound may
be distorted. In this case, place the unit away from the TV,
radio, or VCR.
Do not use this unit in places which are extremely hot, cold,
dusty or humid.
Do not restrict the air flow of this unit by placing it
somewhere with poor air flow, by covering it with a cloth,
or by placing it on bedding or carpeting.
Be sure to remove the disc and unplug the AC power cord from
the outlet before carrying the
unit
.
Do not use the Blu-ray Disc™ and Online Media
Player when moisture condensation may occur.
If you use the unit in such a situation, it may damage discs
and internal parts. Remove the disc, connect the power
cord of the unit to the wall outlet, turn on the unit, and
leave it for two or three hours. After two or three hours,
the unit will have warmed up and evaporated any moisture.
Keep the unit connected to the wall outlet and moisture
condensation will seldom occur.

Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound
deterioration. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with
a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean.
Do not store discs in a place subject to direct sunlight or
near heat sources.
Do not store discs in places subject to moisture and dust
such as a bathroom or near a humidifier.
Store discs vertically in a case. Stacking or placing objects
on discs outside of their case may cause warping.
Do not attach paper or tape to discs.
If you cannot wipe off the dust with a soft cloth, wipe the
disc lightly with a slightly moistened soft cloth and finish
with a dry cloth.
Do not use any type of solvent such as thinner, benzine,
commercially available cleaners or antistatic spray for vinyl
LPs. It may damage the disc.

Blu-ray DiscTM Java(BD-J) Application the BD-ROM format supports Java for interactive functions. “BD-J”
offers content providers almost unlimited functionality when creating interactive BD-ROM titles.
DVD Upconversion for enhanced picture quality
Your current DVD will look even better than before thanks to video upconversion. Upconversion will increase
the resolution of a standard denition DVD to near high denition up to 1080p over an HDMITM connection.
The picture will be less jagged and more realistic for a near high-denition experience.

Playing back AVCHD™ files
This player supports playback of AVCHD™ format les (new format for high denition video camcorders)
recorded on disc. Your high denition personal archive is playable in HD quality.
x.v.Color
®
This player supports playback of video content on discs recorded with “x.v.Color®” technology. To watch this
video content with the “x.v.Color®”, a TV or other display device supporting both video image reproduction
using the “x.v.Color®” standard and capable of manually switching its color setting is required. Refer to the
User’s Guide of your display device for further information.
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED

The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® logo is an assurance that Wi-Fi® Alliance has tested a product in numerous
congurations and with a diverse sampling of other devices to ensure compatibility with other Wi-Fi

Connect this player to your HDTV with one single HDMITM (High-Denition Multimedia Interface) cable. It is
recommended to use a High Speed HDMITM Cable for better compatibility. The high denition video output
signal will be transferred to your HDTV without conversion to analog signals, so you will get excellent picture
and sound quality.

Built-in Wi-Fi® and MiracastTM - includes peer-to-peer wireless technologies to allow direct wireless

MediaShare - provides a simple graphic interface to quickly access and share videos, music, and image
les across your home network and the other connected devices through the My Videos, My Photos, and
My Music icons on the ePortal page.

PIP (Picture-In-Picture)
Some Blu-ray™ videos have the PIP function which enables you to display the secondary video in the
primary video. You can call up the secondary video by pressing PIP on the remote whenever the scene
contains the secondary video.
Pop up menu
Some Blu-ray™ videos have pop-up menu which is a navigation menu that can be called up and be operated
on the TV screen without interrupting the playback. You can call up the pop-up menu by pressing POP UP/
MENU or TOP MENU on the remote. Contents in the pop-up menu vary depending on the disc.
Apps available through the player may be changed or removed at any time. Not all operating
system apps may be compatible with the player. Services depicted in the document and
provided through the player may not be available to you in your region. Please check your
individual device for app compatibility.

Installing the batteries
Using the remote control

For optimum performance, aim the remote control directly at the player and make sure there are no
obstructions between the remote control and the player. The maximum operable ranges from the unit are
as follows.
1 Slide the battery cover down.
2 Insert two AAA batteries.
Make sure to match the polarity marks (+ / -) on the batteries to the marks indicated in the battery
compartment.
3 Replace the battery cover.

Do not expose batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, etc.
Dispose of batteries in a designated disposal area.
Always consider the environment when disposing of batteries.
Always follow applicable laws and regulations.
If the remote does not operate correctly, or if the operating range is reduced, replace the
batteries.
Always replace both batteries with new ones. Never mix battery types or use new and used
batteries together.
Always remove batteries from the remote if they are dead or if the remote control is not to be
used for an extended period of time.
This prevents battery acid from leaking into the battery compartment.

Do not expose the remote sensor to a strong light source such as direct sunlight or other
illumination. This can damage the sensor resulting in the inability to operate the player via
the remote control.
Do not drop or expose the remote control to electric shock.
Do not expose the remote control excessively hot or humid places to avoid moisture
condensation.
Do not spill water or place anything wet on the remote control.
Do not open the remote control unit (other than the battery door).
If the remote control is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to
avoid damage caused by battery leakage corrosion.
Direct the remote control at the remote sensor of Blu-ray Disc™ and Online Media Player.
When using the remote control, press the buttons at intervals of approximately 1 second to
ensure the correct mode of operation.

Connecting to a TV
Connecting to the digital AV receiver/amplifier
It is important to connect the player to the Internet and AV devices rst, before connecting the player to AC
power.
Connect a HDMITM cable from the HDMITM output jack on this player to the HDMITM input jack on the TV.
An HDMITM cable carries both video and audio signals. If you wish to use TV speakers, you do not need to
make an additional audio connection.
Route the sound from this player to the AV receiver/amplier/sound system to enhance audio output.
Connect a coaxial cable from the COAXIAL jack on this player to the COAXIAL jack on the device.

Connecting to a Local Area Network (LAN)
Using a wired network provides the best performance because the attached device and player are
connected directly to the network and are not subject to radio frequency interference.
To use a wireless connection, you can connect through the built-in wireless device and a wireless access
point or router (for BDX3400KC model).
To use a wireless connection, you can connect through a wireless LAN adapter and a wireless access
point or router (for BDX2400KC model).

can also enjoy playing back MP3/JPEG/MPEG4 les stored on the USB device.

This player is compatible with the following discs/les.
To play a disc/le, make sure that it meets the requirements for region codes and color systems as described
below. You can play discs that have the following logos.
CinaviaTM Notice
This product uses CinaviaTM technology to limit the use of unauthorized copies of some
commercially-produced film and videos and their soundtracks. When a prohibited use of
an unauthorized copy is detected, a message will be displayed and playback or copying will
be interrupted.

This player cannot play disc content that is protected by Windows Media™ Digital Rights Management
(DRM).
This player has been designed to play back Blu-ray™ video with region “A” and DVD-video with region “1”
or “ALL.” You cannot play back Blu-ray™ video or DVD-video that are labeled for other regions. Look for the
symbols on your Blu-ray™ video or DVD-video.
If these region symbols do not appear on your Blu-ray™ video or DVD-video, you cannot play back the disc in
this player. The letter or number inside the globe refers to region of the world. A Blu-ray™ video or DVD-video
labeled for a specic region can only be played back in the player with the same region code.
Blu-ray™ video and DVD-video are recorded in different color systems throughout the world.
The most common color system is NTSC (which is used primarily in the United States and Canada).

1 Press the button on the front panel or the remote control; your Blu-ray Disc™ and Online Media Player
will turn on.
2 Turn the TV on and then select the input setting on the TV that matches the connection method you used
to connect your player.
3 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote control to open the disc tray.
4 Place a disc on the disc tray with the label facing up, and then press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close
the disc tray.
The disc loading time depends on the types of disc you are loading.
5 After loading a disc, the playback starts automatically.
6 If a Blu-ray

Disc or DVD menu is displayed, use cursor buttons to select PLAY. Then, press the OK
button to conrm.
7 To eject the disc, press the OPEN/CLOSE button.
Pause playback
1 Press the button to pause playback. The sound will be muted.
2 Press the button to resume the playback.

1 Press the button to continue to playback when in still off mode.
When you wish to view a disc, turn the TV on and select the video input connected to the Blu-ray Disc™ and
Online Media Player.

1 Press the button to turn on this product.
2 Turn on the TV and switch to the correct video-in input (refer to the TV user’s manual for instructions on
how to select the correct input).
Initial Setting
When you turn on this unit for the rst time, or restore all settings to factory defaults, the system will prompt
you to perform the initial setup.
1 Follow the on-screen instructions to customize the following settings to your preference:

Stop playback
1 Press the STOP button once to go to resume mode, the TV screen will show the resume logo.
Press the button to resume playback from the point where playback is stopped.
2 Press the STOP button twice to stop the playback completely and the setup screen appears.
Use the / button to select BD/DVD, and press the OK button to begin playback from the beginning of
the disc.
Not all Blu-rayTM Discs support the resume feature.
GOTO
During playback,
1 Press the GOTO button to edit Title, Chapter, and Time.
2 Press the / button and OK on the remote control to select Title, Chapter, or Time.
3 Press the numeric buttons or / button and then press OK. The playback will skip to the desired
location.
4 For Time Search, press the / button to select TT (Title) or CH (Chapter) time search.
Fast Forward and Fast Reverse
1 Press the button to fast forward through the disc. The fast forward speed changes based on how
many times you pressed the button.
2 Press the button to fast reverse through the disc. The fast reverse speed changes based on how
many times you pressed the button.
The speed will increase through the following sequence: 2X, 4X, 8X, 16X, 32X.
3 Press the button to resume normal playback.
Instant Search and Instant Replay
1 During playback, press and hold the button, you can search 30 seconds forward.
2 During playback, press and hold the button, you can instant replay the content from 10 seconds
before.
Previous and Next
1 During playback, press the button to skip back to the beginning of the current chapter or track or the
previous chapter or track.
2 Press the button during playback will allow you to skip the playback to next chapter or track.
Slow Forward
1 Press the STEP/SLOW button during normal playback. The slow forward speed is 1/16 in default.
2 To change slow forward speed, press the STEP/SLOW button repeatedly, and the slow forward speed will
be changed in the following sequence: 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, normal.
3 To exit slow forward mode and return to normal playback, press the button.
Step Forward
Use this feature to help you to enjoy the video frame by frame.
1 Press the button during normal playback, then playback will change to pause state.
2 Press the STEP/SLOW button repeatedly to advance the picture frame by frame.
3 Press the button to resume normal playback.

POP UP/MENU
During Blu-ray DiscTM playback, press the POP UP/MENU button to display the disc title, and the playback
will not be stopped even if the menu is displayed on the screen.
TOP MENU
You may press the TOP MENU button at any time, and the Blu-ray DiscTM or DVD video disc playback will
display the disc menu.
ANGLE
During playback, press this button to change the angle of the picture. The screen will display “Angle X/X.”
The rst “X” indicates the current number of angle, and the second “X” indicates total number of angles.
Not all Blu-rayTM or DVD has the multi-angle feature. The screen will take approximately 5 seconds to
change.
ZOOM
Press the ZOOM button repeatedly to Zoom in/out playback in the video.
Zoom mode : Zoom 2x -> Zoom 3x -> Zoom 4x -> Zoom 1/2 -> Zoom 1/3 -> Zoom 1/4.
DIGEST
During playback of JPEG disc, press the DIGEST button to view a page of 12 thumbnail images.
1 Use the / / / buttons to select an image.
2 Press OK to view the selected image in full-screen and subsequent images will be displayed one after
another automatically.
3 Press the / buttons to view the previous or next thumbnail screen.
PROGRAM
During DVD/CD playback, you can press the PROGRAM button to edit the sequence of the playlist.
BOOKMARK
During playback, press the BOOKMARK button to add the bookmark; press and hold for a few seconds to
display the list of bookmarks that were previously added on the screen, then you can press the OK button to
select the bookmark or the CLEAR button to delete the bookmark.
AUDIO
Press the AUDIO button on the remote control to select the audio streams that set within the Blu-rayTM or
DVD disc.
The screen will display:
AUDIO: X / XX XXX XXXX
“X” - The current audio stream number
“XX” - The total number of audio streams
“XXX” - Audio Language
“XXXX” - Audio Technology
SUB
Press this button repeatedly and the screen will display “X/XX XXX” or “Off”. The “X” indicates the current
number of this language; “XX” indicates the total number of subtitle languages on the disc; “XXX” indicates
the language.
The number of available languages depends on the disc.

RETURN
Press the RETURN button to return to the previous on-screen menu in the setup menu such as External
Memory Information, Parental Control, etc.
During MP3/JPEG playback, press the RETURN button once, it will return back to Media Center page.

OSC
Press the OSC button to open the On Screen Control menu during playback. In this menu, you can access
the playback-related control options.
The on screen control contains following items:
Title: The title in current playback/titles in total. Select your desired title to play.
Chapter: The chapter in the current playback/chapters in total. Select your desired chapter to
playback.
Time: View the elapsed/remaining playback time of title/chapter. Use the / button to view: the
elapsed playback time of title, the remaining playback time of title, the elapsed playback time of
chapter, and the remaining playback time of chapter.
Mode: Selects playback mode among shufe, random, and normal.
Audio: The Blu-ray DiscTM/DVD disc’s soundtrack language. Use the / button to view the audio
available in the disc and select your desired Audio type.
Angle: The angle view of current playback/the angles in total. Use the / button to select your
desired angle view.
Subtitle: The Subtitle in current playback.
Use the / button to view the subtitles available in the disc and select your desired subtitle type or
turn it off.
Subtitle Style: When you play the Blu-ray DiscTM or DVD disc and if it has an external subtitle, you will
see it in OSC menu.
Secondary Video: Turns On/Off the secondary video.
Secondary Audio: Turns On/Off the secondary audio.
Bitrate: Use the / button to select audio or video bitrate.
Still Off: Closes the Still feature.
For some Blu-ray Disc
TM
or DVD discs, a certain video picture will be frozen as a still picture during the
process of playback to let the user has a better view of certain picture. To continue playback, select Still
Off.
Instant Search: Instant search 30 seconds forward.
Instant Replay: Replays the content from 10 seconds before.
The specified operation for each item will vary with disc types. And some items are available only
when the disc is supportable.
Blu-ray Disc™ playback
DISPLAY
Press the DISPLAY button and the screen will display some information about disc, such as: Title number,
Chapter number, Track number, Elapsed Time, Audio, Angle, and Subtitle languages. Press this button again
to turn off the information display.
A-B
To play certain sections within the video or song, press the A-B button to set the start point. Then, press
the A-B button again to set the end point and complete the setting. The selected section will be played
repeatedly.
Press the A-B button the third time to cancel this function.
The end point cannot be set until 5 seconds of playback has elapsed from the start point.
Not all Blu-rayTM Discs support the repeat A-B feature.
REPEAT
Press the REPEAT button repeatedly to select different repeat modes.
Blu-ray DiscTM: Repeat Chapter and Title.
DVD: Repeat Chapter, Title and All.
CD-DA/JPEG/MP3: Repeat Track and All.

PIP
Some Blu-ray™ discs have the PIP function enabling you to display the secondary video in the primary video.
You can call up the secondary video by pressing the PIP button when the scene contains the secondary
video. See the documentation that came with the disc for playback instructions.
1 Turn on secondary video by pressing the PIP button.
2 Press the 2nd. AUDIO button to turn on the audio for the secondary video (PIP).
In order to hear the secondary audio, the PIP feature on the disc must be turned on.
3 Press the PIP button again to turn off the secondary video.

This function is not available when the primary video is played in Search, Slow-Motion, or Frame-by-Frame
or Fast Forward/ Reverse mode.
To listen to the secondary audio, the digital audio output must be set to “Bitstream”, “Re-encode” or “PCM”.
Otherwise, only the primary audio can be heard.

1 Load a disc or insert a USB device that contains MP3/JPEG/MPEG4 les.
2 On the setup screen, press the / button to select Video, Music, or Photo, and then press OK.
The Media Center menu appears on the screen.
You can play MP3/JPEG/MPEG4 les that have been recorded on a disc or a or a USB device on the
player.
3 Press the / button to select Data Disc or USB1, and press OK.
4 Press the / button to select a le (or folder) and press OK or to start playback.
It should match the selection on the setup screen. (If you selected Video on the setup screen, you also
should select Video here.)

SPDIF
When you connect an audio system to the COAXIAL DIGITAL output jack, the options are:
Bitstream: Selects Bitstream output if your receiver SPDIF (Coaxial) IN supports Dolby® or DTS® or
PCM audio signal.
PCM: Selects PCM output if your receiver SPDIF (Coaxial) IN only supports PCM stereo audio
signal.
Re-encode: Selects Re-encode output if your receiver SPDIF (Coaxial) IN supports Dolby® or DTS®
and you want to hear both PIP audio and the movie audio on Blu-ray™ video.
Off: No audio will be output via COAXIAL DIGITAL output jack.
Bitstream: Selects Bitstream output if your receiver HDMI IN supports Dolby® or DTS® or PCM audio
signal.
PCM: Selects PCM output if your receiver HDMI IN only supports PCM audio signal.
Re-encode: Selects Re-encode if your receiver’s HDMI IN supports Dolby® or DTS® and you want to
hear both PIP audio and movie audio on Blu-ray™ video.
Off: No audio will be output via HDMI OUT jack.

Down_samp
Select the digital audio signal sampling frequency. (Only available on Coaxial)
48k: For discs recorded at sampling rate of 48 kHz.
96k: For discs recorded at sampling rate of 96 kHz.
192k: For discs recorded at sampling rate of 192 kHz.
Stereo Down Mix
Select whether to downmix the multi-channel audio into fewer channels.
Dolby DRC
Select the Dynamic Range Control (DRC) mode which makes it available to listen to a movie at a low volume
without losing sound clarity.
Off: Non-dynamic range compress.
On: Dynamic range compress.
Auto: Adjust the DRC according to input audio.
The setting of Auto is effective for Dolby® TrueHD.
Stereo: Downmixes the multi-channel audio into two channel stereo. Choose when the unit is
connected to equipment that does not support virtual surround function such as Dolby® Pro Logic.
System Setting
1 In the Setting menu, use the / button to select System and press OK.
2 Use the / button to select an option and press OK.
3 Press the button or the RETURN button to return to the previous menu.
Surround Encoded (LtRt): Downmixes the multichannel audio into surround compatible stereo.
Choose when the unit is connected to equipment that supports virtual surround function such as Dolby®
Pro Logic.
Customizing
Screen Saver
The screen saver helps protect the TV screen. You can turn on/off the screen saver mode.
On: Sets the screen saver active after approximately 5 minutes without operation.
- The unit will switch to standby mode if there is no operation after the screen saver is engaged for
approximately 20 minutes.
Off: Turns off the screen saver mode. The unit will not switch to standby mode automatically.
Disc Auto Play
Turns On or Off the disc automatic playback switching mode.
On: The disc playback automatically after loading.
Off: Turn off disc auto play mode.
CEC
This feature uses CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) technology and allows you to control Toshiba HDMI™
CEC compatible devices from the player’s remote control via the HDMI™ connection.
On: Turns on HDMITM CEC features.
With CEC on, pressing SETTING, PLAY/PAUSE button will power on the TV when the TV is in the
standby mode. When you turn the TV off, this player will automatically turn off.
Off: Disables HDMITM CEC features.
Load Default
Resets all settings of the player to initial default state.
- Follow the instructions on the TV screen to conrm the default setting operation.

External Memory
The External Memory can be used in the BD-LiveTM function. When you plug in the USB device, which has
at least 1GB free space to play BD-LiveTM function, the Blu-ray DiscTM system creates a directory named
BUDA automatically.
Media Information will display the Free size.
- Press OK to select “Fmt buda”, the data in the BUDA folder will be cleared.
Upgrade
This option allows you to update your players software via a Disc, USB Storage or Network.
Customizing
Network
Internet Connection
Allows you to enable/disable the Internet connection.
Connection Test
Selecting the Connection Test will cause the player to attempt to communicate with your home network and
with a known Internet address. If both attempts are successful, your network connection should be congured
correctly. If the player can successfully connect to your home network, but not to the known Internet address,
your Internet service may be unavailable, or your security rewall may be blocking access of the player to

Wi-Fi Direct
TM
This allows you to congure a secured wireless network between the player and a Wi-Fi DirectTM compatible
device (e.g. smartphone) without using an access point (for BDX3400KC model only).
Enable: Turns on the Wi-Fi DirectTM features.
Disable: Disables the Wi-Fi DirectTM features.
Wi-Fi DirectTM Setting
To scan and connect a Wi-Fi DirectTM compatible device, e.g. smartphone (for BDX3400KC model only).
IP Setting
Auto: Auto obtain network information.
Manual: Manual setup network information.
Deactivate Setting
To apply the deactivation, unplug the player after operating deactivation.

Media Server Search
The Media Server Search function enables you to create an interoperability network with other devices for
resource sharing based on a network. See Media Server Search on page 32 for details.

Parental Control
Restricts access to discs that are unsuitable for children. These discs must be recorded with rating.

Angle Mark
Some Blu-rayTM discs/DVDs contain the scenes recorded with multiple angles, which allow you to enjoy the
videos with your desired angles, therefore the angle mark is displayed only when the Blu-ray Disc™/DVD
disc is supportable for multi-angle and Angle Mark is set to ON.
On: Displays the Angle Mark.
Off: Hides the Angle Mark.
PIP Mark
The Picture -In- Picture (PIP) mode display two pictures on the TV screen at the same time, the full screen
picture is called Main Window and the small inset window is called Sub Window. The PIP Mark is displayed
when in PIP mode and PIP Mark is set to ON.
On: Displays the PIP Mark.
Off: Hides the PIP Mark.
Secondary Audio
On: Displays the Secondary Audio.
Off: Hides the Secondary Audio.
Last Memory
If you open the disc tray or switch this Blu-ray Disc™ and Online Media Player to standby state during normal
playback, the player can memorize the end playing point, the player will start playback from the memorized
point next time.
On: Enables Last Memory feature.
Off: Disables Last Memory feature.
These settings congure how the picture is displayed on the television or screen.
Not all the Blu-rayTM discs can support this function.

Resolution
Selects a video output resolution that is compatible with your TV display capability.
TV Screen
Select the screen format according to how you want the picture to appear on the TV.
16:9 Full: For a disc with the aspect ratio of 4:3, the output video is stretched into 16:9 full screen.
16:9 Normal: For a disc with the aspect ratio of 4:3, the output video is resized vertically to match what
will be seen on the display.
4:3 Pan&Scan: For standard TV, it displays a wide picture on the entire screen and cuts off the
redundant portions.
4:3 Letterbox: For standard TV, it displays a wide picture with two black borders on the top and bottom
of 4:3 screen.
Auto: Select the most suitable resolution according to the TV.
480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p: Select a video resolution setting that is best supported by the TV. See
TV manual for details.
Color Space
Selects a predened Colour space of picture: RGB, YCbCr, YCbCr422, Full RGB.
HDMI Deep Color
This feature is available only when the display device is connected by an HDMITM cable, and when it supports
Deep Color feature.
HDMI 1080/24p
Movies are recorded on lm at a rate of 24 pictures (frames) per second. Many of the movies on Blu-ray™
discs are placed on the discs at this frame rate. However, not all TVs can display 24 progressive frames/
second of video. If the TV cannot display this frame rate, you need to turn off HDMI 1080/24p.
Sharpness
Selects the level of sharpness: High, Middle, Low.
Video Adjust
Brightness: Press the / button to adjust the brightness of display, goes left means dark and right
means bright.
Contrast: Press the / button to adjust the contrast of display, goes left means low contrast and right
means high contrast.
Hue: Press the / button to adjust the Hue of display, goes left means low hue and right means high
hue.
Saturation: Press the / button to adjust the saturation of display, goes left means low Saturation and
right means high saturation.
On: Enables HDMI Deep Color.
Off: Disables HDMI Deep Color.
On: Enables 1080/24p video resolution setting.

Media Server Search
Not all media formats are supported.
Network functional description
With this player connected to a home network, you can play video, music and photo les from the server.
1 Connects this player to the network where the server is located and set the Media Server Search to
Enable.
See Network on page 29 for details.
2 Press the SETTING button to enter the setup screen and use the / button to select Video, Music, or
Photo, and then press OK.
The Media Center menu appears on the screen.
3 Press the / button to select Media Server list, and then press OK.
4 Press the / button to a kind of media (Photo, Music, Video) and press OK.
It should match the selection on the setup screen. (If you selected Video on the setup screen, you also
should select Video here.)

Network functional description
1 Turn on your MiracastTM compatible device (e.g. smartphone) and set the Wi-Fi DirectTM to On.
2 Then congure the player:
1) Enter the Network menu and set the Wi-Fi DirectTM to Enable.
2) Then enter the Wi-Fi DirectTM Setting to scan and and select your MiracastTM compatible device,
then press OK. For more information, please see the “Network” section on page 28.
3 On your MiracastTM compatible device, search for the “TOSHIBA BDPL” from the list of discovered
devices and select it. It may take the player and the MiracastTM compatible device a few seconds to
connect.
4 After connecting successfully, you can now enjoy videos, music and photos on your MiracastTM compatible
device from the unit.
Navigating the ePortal Menu

This feature allows you to enjoy videos, music and photos on your MiracastTM compatible device (e.g.
smartphone) by using a Wi-Fi DirectTM connection without using an access point (for BDX3400KC model

To play streaming video via Netix® service, Netix® player needs to be activated. Read the instructions

If you experience any of the following difculties while using this unit, check the list below before consulting
your nearest TOSHIBA dealer.

Aspect ratio
Aspect ratio refers to the length to height ratio of TV screens. The ratio of a standard TV is 4:3, while the ratio
of a high denition or wide TV is 16:9. The letterbox allows you to enjoy a picture with a wider perspective
on a standard 4:3 screen.

With some Blu-ray Disc™ which support Java™ applications, you can enjoy the interactive functions such

AVCHD™

Digital Audio

through multiple channels. Analogue sound can only be transmitted through two channels.
Chapter
Just as a book is split up into several chapters, a title on a Blu-ray Disc™-video or DVD-video is usually
divided into chapters.
Dolby® Digital
The system to compress digital sound developed by Dolby Laboratories. It offers you sound of stereo (2ch)
or multichannel audio.
DTS-HD Master Audio
TM
A disc encoded with DTS-HD Master Audio delivers ALL of the information from the original master recording
— bit-for-bit, it’s identical to what the sound engineers laid down. Audio doesn’t get any better than this.
HDCP
High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. This is a specication that provides a secure transmission of
digital contents between different devices (to prevent unauthorized copyright.)

HDMI
TM
High-Denition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a high-speed digital interface that can transmit uncompressed
high denition video and digital multichannel audio. It delivers high quality picture and sound quality. HDMI is
fully backward compatible with DVI. As required by the HDMI standard, connecting to HDMI or DVI products
without HDCP (High bandwidth Digital Content Protection) will result in no Video or Audio output.
IP Address
A set of numbers which are assigned to devices participating in a computer network.
JPEG
A very common digital still picture format. A still-picture data compression system proposed by the Joint
Photographic Expert Group, which features small decrease in image quality in spite of its high compression
ratio. Files are recognized by their le extension ‘.jpg’ or ‘.jpeg’.
LAN (Local Area Network)
A group of linked devices in a company, school or home. Indicates the boundaries of a particular network.
Local storage
This storage area is used as destination for storing additional contents from BD-Live™ enabled Blu-ray
Disc™-video.
Glossary
MP3
A le format with a sound data compression system. MP3 is the abbreviation of Motion Picture Experts Group
1 (or MPEG-1) Audio Layer 3. With the MP3 format, one CD-R or CD-RW can contain about 10 times more
data than a regular CD.
PCM
Pulse Code Modulation. A digital audio encoding system.
Region code
A system that allows discs to be played only in the region designated. This unit only plays discs that have
compatible region codes. You can nd the region code of your unit on the product label. Some discs are
compatible with more than one region (or ALL regions).
Sampling Frequency
The rate which sound is measured by a specied interval to turn into digital audio data. The numbers of
sampling in one second denes as sampling frequency. The higher the rate, the better the sound quality.
Track
Audio CD use tracks to divide up the content of a disc. The Blu-ray Disc™-video or DVD-video equivalent is
called a chapter. See also “Chapter”.
Wi-Fi
®
Wi-Fi or Wi, is a mechanism for wirelessly connecting electronic devices.

Article 3 Prohibited Uses

3.2. You may not assign, resell, distribute or sublicense the Software or a copy of the Software.

3.5. You may not combine or incorporate the Software with or into any other application.

Article 9 Governing Law
This EULA is governed by the laws of Japan, without references to the conict of laws principles. Any and all
disputes arising hereunder shall be resolved exclusively by the Tokyo District Court, Japan, and you hereby
consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of such court.
Article 10 Severability
If any provision of this EULA shall be held to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and
enforceability of the remaining provisions hereof shall not in any way be affected or impaired.
