Installing the Hitch
1. Position the machine on a level surface. Set the parking
brake, turn the ignition off, and remove the key.
Caution
If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone
could accidently start the engine and seriously
injure you or other bystanders.
Remove the key from the ignition switch before
you do any maintenance.
Note: Installation may be easier if the cargo box is
removed.
2. Remove the existing hitch and hardware. Save them for
future installation.
3. Position the heavy-duty hitch on the rear of the frame as
shown in Figure 1.

Warning
Towing a load could cause loss of control or tipping
of the vehicle, resulting in personal injury.
• To provide adequate braking and traction,
always load the cargo box when trailering. Do
not exceed the Gross Trailer Weight limits.
• Do not tow a load that exceeds 800 lb. (363 kg).
• Do not exceed a tongue weight of 100 lb. (45 kg).
• Never exceed 10 MPH (16 km/h) when towing a
load.
4. Secure the hitch with 8 flange head bolts and locknuts
(Fig. 1). Tighten the fasteners to 25 ft.-lb. (34 N⋅m).
