theriskofstartingthepowertoolaccidentally .

notremovecutmaterialorholdmaterialtobecutwhen bladesaremoving.Makesuretheswitchisoffwhen clearingjammedmaterial.Bladescoastafterturnoff.A
momentofinattentionwhileoperatingthehedgetrimmermay resultinseriouspersonalinjury.
Carrythehedgetrimmerbythehandlewiththecutter
bladestopped.Whentransportingorstoringthehedge trimmeralwaystthecuttingdevicecover.Proper
handlingofthehedgetrimmerwillreducepossiblepersonal injuryfromthecutterblades.
Holdthepowertoolbyinsulatedgrippingsurfacesonly,
becausethecutterblademaycontacthiddenwiringorits owncord.Cutterbladescontactinga“live”wiremaymake
exposedmetalpartsofthepowertool“live”andcouldgive theoperatoranelectricshock.
Keepcableawayfromcuttingarea.Duringoperationthe
cablemaybehiddeninshrubsandcanbeaccidentallycut bytheblade.

StartingtheHedgeTrimmer

1.Removetheprotectivecoverfromthecutterblades(Figure
2).

4.Slidethelockswitchbackwards,towardsyou,thensqueeze thetriggerswitchtoturnonthehedgetrimmer(Figure1). Thetrimmerwillstayonaslongasthetriggerswitchis squeezed.Lock-offswitchmaybereleasedoncehedge trimmerisrunning.

1.Releasethetriggerswitch(Figure1).
2.Allowatleast5secondsforthecuttingbladetostopmoving.

Theunitisusedforcuttingineitherdirectioninaslow,
sweepingactionfromsidetoside.
Standsothatyouarestableandbalancedonbothfeet.Do
notoverreach.
Inspectandcleartheareaofanyhiddenobjects.
Neverusethehedgetrimmernearpowerlines,fencing,
posts,buildings,orotherimmovableobjects.
Neveruseabladeafterhittingahardobjectwithoutrst
inspectingitfordamage.Donotuseifanydamageis detected.
Nevertouchbladesorserviceunitwiththepowersupply
connected.
Whenoperatingthehedgetrimmer,keeptheextensioncord
behindthetrimmer.Neverdrapeitoverthehedgebeing trimmed.
Donotforcethehedgetrimmerthroughheavyshrubbery .
Thiscancausethebladestobindandslowdown.Ifthe bladesslowdown,reducethepace.
Donotattempttocutstemsortwigsthatarelargerthan
9/16in.,orthoseobviouslytoolargetofeedintothecutting blade.Useanon-poweredhandsaworpruningsawtotrim largestems.
Ifbladesdobecomejammed,stopthemotor,allowtheblades
tostop,anddisconnecttheplugfromthepowersourcebefore attemptingtoremovetheobstruction.
Ifdesired,youcanuseastringtohelpcutyourhedgelevel.
Decidehowhighyouwantthehedge.Stretchapieceofstring alongthehedgeatthedesiredheight.Trimthehedgejust abovetheguidelineofstring.Trimthesideofahedgesothat itwillbeslightlynarroweratthetop.Moreofthehedgewillbe exposedwhenshapedthisway ,anditwillbemoreuniform.
Weargloveswhentrimmingthornyorpricklygrowth.When
trimmingnewgrowth,useawidesweepingaction,sothatthe stemsarefeddirectlyintothecuttingblade.Oldergrowthwill havethickerstemsandwillbetrimmedeasiestbyusinga sawingmovement.
Maintenance

OilingtheTrimmerBlade

1.Stopthemotoranddisconnectfrompowersupply .
2.Cleandirtanddebrisfromthebodyofthehedgetrimmer, usingadampclothwithamilddetergent.
Note:Donotuseanystrongdetergentsontheplastic
housingorthehandle.Theycanbedamagedbycertain aromaticoilssuchaspineandlemon,andbysolventssuch askerosene.
3.Laythehedgetrimmeronaatsurface.Applylightweight machineoilalongtheedgeofthetopblade.Ifyouwillbe usingthehedgetrimmerforanextendedperiodoftime,itis advisabletooilthebladeduringuse.
Note:Donotoilwhilethehedgetrimmerisrunning.

WhydoesToroincludethiswarning?

Torohaschosentoprovideconsumerswithasmuchinformationaspossiblesothattheycanmakeinformeddecisionsabouttheproductstheybuyand use.Toroprovideswarningsincertaincasesbasedonitsknowledgeofthepresenceofoneormorelistedchemicalswithoutevaluatingthelevelof exposure,asnotallthelistedchemicalsprovideexposurelimitrequirements.WhiletheexposurefromToroproductsmaybenegligibleorwellwithinthe “nosignicantrisk”range,outofanabundanceofcaution,T orohaselectedtoprovidetheProp65warnings.Moreover,ifT orodoesnotprovidethese warnings,itcouldbesuedbytheStateofCaliforniaorbyprivatepartiesseekingtoenforceProp65andsubjecttosubstantialpenalties.
