Important:Thebatterypackisnotfullychargedwhenitis purchased.Beforeusingthehedgetrimmerfortherst time,placethebatterypackinthechargerandchargeituntil theLEDindicatorsturngreen.Makesuretoreadallsafety precautions.Withregularuse,itwillneedshortercharging time.Ifstoringforaprolongedperiodoftime,removethe battery.Whenreadytouseagain,chargethebatterypack untiltheLEDindicatorsturngreen.

StartingtheHedgeTrimmer

1.Removetheprotectivecoverfromthecutterblades(Figure

2).

WARNING

Thehedgetrimmerbladescancausecutsor amputation.

Becarefulwhenhandlingthehedgetrimmerwith theprotectivecoverremoved.

Important:Forbestresults,yourbatterytoolshouldbe chargedinalocationwherethetemperatureismorethan5° C(41°F)butlessthan40°C(104°F).T oreducetheriskof seriouspersonalinjury,donotstoreoutsideorinvehicles. Chargingtimewillbeincreasedifnotchargedwithinthis range.

1.Ifthepowercordisnotpluggedintothecharger,plugit intothecharger(Figure5),thenplugthepowercordinto apowersocket.

•Donotforcethehedgetrimmerthroughheavyshrubbery.

thetop.Moreofthehedgewillbeexposedwhenshapedthis way,anditwillbemoreuniform.

•Weargloveswhentrimmingthornyorpricklygrowth.When

trimmingnewgrowth,useawidesweepingaction,sothatthe stemsarefeddirectlyintothecuttingblade.

Maintenance

Note:Thetrimmerbladeshouldbeoiledbeforeandaftereach

use.

1.Stopthemotorandremovethebattery.

2.Cleandirtanddebrisfromthebodyofthehedgetrimmer, usingadampclothwithamilddetergent.

Note:Donotuseanystrongdetergentsontheplastic housingorthehandle.Theycanbedamagedbycertain aromaticoilssuchaspineandlemon,andbysolventssuch askerosene.

3.Laythehedgetrimmeronaatsurface.Applylightweight machineoilalongtheedgeofthetopblade.Ifyouwillbe usingthehedgetrimmerforanextendedperiodoftime,itis advisabletooilthebladeduringuse.

Note:Donotoilwhilethehedgetrimmerisrunning.

PreparingtheBatteryPackfor Recycling

Troubleshooting

Usingthebatterywhenitishotcanreducetheoperatingtime. Thebatterywillautomaticallystopworkingwhenitisoverheated topreventdamagetoit.Removethebatteryfromthechargerand allowittocoolbeforeplacingitbackintothetrimmer.

Usingthebatterywhenthereismoistureontheleadscancause thetrimmertomalfunction.Allowthebatterytodryorwipeitdry beforeplacingitbackintothetrimmer .
