Thedieselparticulatelter(DPF)ispartoftheexhaust system.Thediesel-oxidationcatalystoftheDPF reducesharmfulgasses,andthesootlterremoves sootfromtheengineexhaust.
TheDPFregenerationprocessusesheatfromthe engineexhausttoincineratethesootaccumulatedon thesootlter,convertingthesoottoash,andclears thechannelsofthesootltersothatlteredengine exhaustowsouttheDPF .
Theenginecomputermonitorstheaccumulationof sootbymeasuringthebackpressureintheDPF.If thebackpressureistoohigh,sootisnotincinerating inthesootlterthroughnormalengineoperation.T o keeptheDPFclearofsoot,rememberthefollowing:
