WARNING
Engineexhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,an odorless,deadlypoisonthatcankillyou.
Donotruntheengineindoorsorinanenclosed area.
Toensuremaximumsafety,bestperformance,and togainknowledgeoftheproduct,itisessentialthat youandanyotheroperatorofthelawnmowerread andunderstandthecontentsofthismanualbeforethe engineiseverstarted.Payparticularattentiontothe safetyalertsymbol(Figure2)whichmeansCaution, Warning,orDanger—“personalsafetyinstruction.” Readandunderstandtheinstructionbecauseithasto dowithsafety.Failuretocomplywiththeinstruction mayresultinpersonalinjury.

GeneralLawnMowerSafety

Thislawnmoweriscapableofamputatinghandsandfeetand ofthrowingobjects.Failuretoobservethefollowingsafety instructionscouldresultinseriousinjuryordeath.
ThefollowinginstructionsarefromtheANSI/OPEI B71.4-2004standard.
Training
ReadtheOperator'sManualandothertrainingmaterial.
Iftheoperator(s)ormechanic(s)cannotreadEnglishitis theowner'sresponsibilitytoexplainthismaterialtothem.
Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationoftheequipment,
operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.The
ownerisresponsiblefortrainingtheusers.
Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateorservice
theequipment.Localregulationsmayrestricttheageof theoperator.
Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsiblefor
accidentsorinjuriesoccurringtothemselves,other people,orproperty.

Preparation
Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapprovedbythe
manufacturer.
Wearappropriateclothingincludinghardhat,safety
glasses,andearprotection.Longhair,looseclothingor jewelrymaygettangledinmovingparts.
Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeusedand
removeallobjectssuchasrocks,toysandwirewhichcan bethrownbythemachine.
Useextracarewhenhandlinggasolineandotherfuels.
Theyareammableandvaporsareexplosive.
Useonlyanapprovedcontainer.
Neverremovegascaporaddfuelwithengine
running.Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.Do notsmoke.
Neverrefuelordrainthemachineindoors.
Checkthatoperator'spresencecontrols,safetyswitches
andshieldsareattachedandfunctioningproperly .Donot operateunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.
Operation
Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.
Onlyoperateingoodlight,keepingawayfromholesand
hiddenhazards.
Onlystartenginefromtheoperator'sposition.
Besureofyourfooting,especiallywhenbackingup.
Walk,don'trun.Neveroperateonwetgrass.Reduced footingcouldcauseslipping.
Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besureto
travelsidetosideonhillsides.Turfconditionscanaffect themachine'sstability.Usecautionwhileoperatingnear drop-offs.
Donotoperatethelawnmowerwithouteitherthegrass
catcherortheguardinplace.
Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingoroverspeed
theengine.
Stoponlevelgroundandshutoffenginebeforeleaving
theoperator'spositionforanyreasonincludingemptying thecatcheroruncloggingthechute.
Stopequipmentandinspectbladeafterstrikingobjectsor
ifanabnormalvibrationoccurs.Makenecessaryrepairs beforeresumingoperations.
Keephandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingunits.
Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobesureof
aclearpath.
Keeppetsandbystandersaway.
Slowdownandusecautionwhencrossingroadsand
sidewalks.Stopbladeifyouarenotmowing.
Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionanddonot
pointitatanyone.

Cleangrassanddebrisfromcuttingunit,drive,mufer,
andenginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuel spillage.
Letenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstorenear
ame.
Shutofffuelwhilestoringortransporting.Donotstore
fuelnearamesordrainindoors.
Neverallowuntrainedpersonneltoservicemachine.
Removesparkplugwirebeforemakinganyrepairs.
Usecarewhencheckingblade.Wrapthebladeorwear
gloves,andusecautionwhenservicingthem.Only replaceblade.Neverstraightenorweldit.
Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,
donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
tightened.Replaceallwornordamageddecals.

Note:Youcanadjustthehandleheightfor comfortableoperation.Standbehindthehandleto determinetheheight.Toadjustthehandleheight, positiontheboltsandthelocknutsthatsecurethe handlelatchestothehandleintotheothermounting holesinthelatches.
3.Insertthecarriageboltthroughthebagaligningplate andthesecondfromthetopholeontheleftsideofthe handle,andsecureitwithacaplocknut(Figure3).
4.Slidethebagsupportrodthroughthethirdfromthe topmountingholesinthehandle,andsecureeachend withacaplocknut(Figure3).
5.Usecabletiestosecurethecontrolcablestothehandle (Figure3).
