Thebladeissharp;contactingthebladecanresult
inseriouspersonalinjury.Shutofftheengine, removetheignitionkey(electric-startmodelonly), andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleaving theoperatingposition.

Tooperatetheself-propeldrive,simplywalkforward orbackwardwithyourhandsontheupperhandle andyourelbowsatyoursides,andthemachinewill automaticallykeeppacewithyou(Figure14).

immediatelyshutofftheengine,removethekey (ifequipped),disconnectthewirefromthespark plug,andexaminethemachinefordamage.
Forbestperformance,installanewbladebefore

CuttingGrass

Slowdownyourmowingspeedifthemachine
doesnotcuttheleavesnelyenough.
Whencuttinggrassover15cm(6inches)tall,
mowatthehighestcuttingheightsettingandwalk slower;thenmowagainatalowersettingforthe bestlawnappearance.Ifthegrassistoolong,the machinemayplugandcausetheenginetostall.
Wetgrassandleavestendtoclumpontheyard
andcancausethemachinetoplugortheengine tostall.Avoidmowinginwetconditions.
Beawareofapotentialrehazardinverydry
conditions,followalllocalrewarnings,andkeep themachinefreeofdrygrassandleafdebris.
Alternatethemowingdirection.Thishelps
