WARNING
Ifyouleavethewireonthesparkplug,someone couldaccidentallystarttheengine.Accidental startingoftheenginecouldseriouslyinjureyouor otherbystanders.
Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplugbeforeyou doanymaintenance.Setthewireasidesothatit doesnotaccidentallycontactthesparkplug.
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthemachine fromthenormaloperatingposition.
Use

Installthemulchingkit.
Converttoside-dischargeoperation(asneeded).
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Makesurethatallmovingpartshavestoppedandthe machinehascooled.
3.Removethespark-plugwirebeforestartingthese instructions.
4.Removethegrassbagorsidedischargechutefromthe machine,whicheveryourmachineiscurrentlyequipped with,alongwithitshardware.
5.Tiptheunitontoitsrightside.
6.Cleanoutanygrassbuildupfromundersideofdeck.
7.Removeandretaintheowcontrolbafefromthe frontofthedeck(Figure1)andhardware.

ConvertingtoSide-Discharge Operation
Toconvertthemowerbacktoside-dischargeoperation, completethefollowingprocedure:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Makesurethatallmovingpartshavestoppedandthe sparkplugwirehasbeendisconnected.
Note:Allowtheunittocoolbeforestartingthese instructions.
3.Removethebaggerfromtheunitifequipped.
4.Tiptheunitrearwardontoitshandle.
5.Cleanoutanygrassbuildupfromundersideofdeck.
6.Removethesidedischargecover.
7.Removethemulchbafeassemblyanditshardware.
8.Installstandardbladesiflow-liftbladeswereused.
9.Installtheowcontrolbafeanditshardware.
10.Installthesidedischargechuteanditshardware.
9.Installthedischargecoverontothemachine.
Note:Youwillhaveanextrabolt,astheange-head boltthatcomeswiththiskitwillreplaceoneofthe boltsthatmountthedischargecovertothemachine.
10.Installtherear-dischargeplugbygripingthehandle, raisingthereardeector,andinsertingitintothe rear-dischargechuteuntilthelatchlocksintoplace (Figure3).

DANGER
Anuncovereddischargeopeningwillallow objectstobethrowninthedirectionofthe operatororbystanders.Also,contactwiththe bladescouldoccur.Thrownobjectsorblade contactcancauseseriousinjuryordeath.
Neveroperatethemachinewithoutthe side-dischargedeectororside-discharge chuteinplaceandworkingproperly.
11.Installthebaggerorrear-dischargeplugfromthe machine.
WARNING
Ensurethateithertherear-dischargeplugor thegrassbaghasbeeninstalledbeforeyou turnonthemachine.Neverengagetheblades withouteithertherear-dischargeplugorthe grassbaginstalled.
11.Tightenallthefasteners.
12.Carefullyplacetheunitinthenormaloperating position.
13.Connectthespark-plugwire.
Note:Anoptionallowliftblade(P/N120-9500)maywork betterincertainmulchingconditions.Refertothemower operator’smanualforblademaintenance.
