InstallingtheKit
1.Removethe2boltsthatholdtheBBCbaillatch,the 2curvedwashers,andthespringtothehandle.
2.Removethe2nutsthatholdthebladecontrolbail tothehandle.
3.Removethebladecontrolbail.
4.Removetheouterbushing,thetractioncontrolbail, andtheinnerbushing.
Note:Discardthebladecontrol(upper)bailand the2bushings.
5.DisconnecttheBBCcablefromthethrottle/choke controlassembly.
Note:Removetheretainingringandsaveit.
6.Removethethrottle/chokecontrolandthecurved washersfromthehandle.
Note:Discardthecurvedwashers.
7.Installthethrottle/chokecontrolontothehandle usingthenewcurvedwashers.
8.InstalltheBBCcablebracketwithanewcurved washer.
15.Installthebladecontrolbailontothehandle.
Note:Ensurethatyouengagethespring,withone endofthespringunderthegroundspeedselector plateandtheotherendofthespringhookedonto thebladecontrolbailtab(Figure1).

Note:Tightentheboltonthethrottle/choke controlassemblyrst,thentightentheboltonthe handle.
9.AttachtheBBCcabletotheBBCcablebracket.
10.Slidetheatwasher,bushing,BBCbaillatch,spring, andcurvedwasherontoabolt.
11.InstalltheBBCbaillatchassemblyandtheground speedselectorontothehandle.
Note:Leavethespringunhooked.
Note:Torquetheboltto30–50in-lb.
12.Inserttheboltandabushingthroughthespringand thecurvedwasherandthenintothehandle.
Note:Torquetheboltto30–50in-lb.
13.Installthespring,thetractioncontrolbail,andthe spaceronthehandle.
14.Hookthecableontothebladecontrolbail.

16.Installthe2nutstosecurethebladecontrolbailand thetractioncontrolbail.
Note:Torquethenutsto50–110in-lb.
17.HookthespringontheBBCbaillatch(Figure1).
18.CheckthatthebladecontrolbailandtheBBCbail latchoperateproperly.
19.Removethefueltank.RefertoEmptyingtheFuel TankandCleaningtheFuelFilterintheOperator’s Manual.
20.Removethe2beltcoversontopofthemower housing.
Note:Thereisascrewunderthereardoorthatyou mustremove.
21.Loosenthecableclampscrewuntilthebrakecable conduitslides(Figure2).

1.Removethe2bladenuts,anti-scalpcup,blade,blade retainer,andclutchshielddisc.
2.Removethe4screwsthatholdthebladebrakeclutch shieldinplace.
3.Removethebladebrakeclutchshield.
4.Removethebladebrakespring.
5.Installthenewbladebrakespring.
6.Installthebladebrakeclutchshieldusingthe4 screwsthatyoupreviouslyremoved.
Note:Torquetheclutchshieldscrewsto70–110 in-lb.
22.Holdthebladecontrolbarsothattheoutsideofthe baris5-1/2inches(14cm)fromtheoutsideofthe handle,andpullthecabletotheremovetheslack, butdonotputtensiononthespring(Figure3).

23.Torquethecableclampscrewto100to120in-lb(11 to14N-m)tolocktheadjustmentinplace.
24.Measurethelengthofthespringbothbeforeand afterengagingthebladecontrolbar.Thedifference betweenthese2lengthsisthespringstretch.
Note:Thespringstretchmustbebetween0.290 and0.310inches(7.4to7.9mm).Youmayneedto adjustthecableadjustertoachievethisvalue.
