Installation Instructions
Removing the Bolt from the
Mower Housing
No Parts Required
Procedure
1. Shut off the engine and w ait for all mo ving
par ts to stop .
2. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug .
If y ou lea v e the wir e on the spar k plug ,
someone could accidentl y star t the
engine and injur e y ou or bystander s.
Disconnect the wir e fr om the spar k plug
bef or e y ou perf or m an y maintenance.
Also, mo v e the wir e a w ay so that it does
not accidentall y contact the spar k plug .
3. Clean the underside of the mo w er housing and
examine it for damag e or ex cessi v e w ear .

Procedure
1. Secure the w ashout por t to a g arden hose .
2. Inser t the w ashout por t (attac hed to the g arden
hose) into the hole in mo w er housing where
y ou remo v ed the larg e bolt and mo v e the
w ashing por t and g arden hose to the prefer red
location.
Note: T he hose should not interfere with the
wheels , handles , or controls .
3. Use the w ashout por t as a template to mark
the location of the tw o holes in the mo w er
housing for the fasteners .
4. Center punc h and drill the tw o holes (9/32-inc h
diameter) that y ou mark ed in ste p 3 .
5. Install the w ashout por t on the mo w er facing
outw ard, and secure it with the bolts and

Washing the Underside of
the Mower
W ash the underside of the mo w er housing after
eac h use to prev ent buildup of g rass clippings for
impro v ed m ulc hing and clipping dispersal.
1. P ark the mo w er on a hard lev el surface .
2. Diseng ag e the po w er tak eoff (PTO).
3. T ur n the ignition k ey to the Off position to
stop the engine .
4. Secure a g arden hose to the w ashout por t on
the mo w er .
5. T ur n the w ater on high.
6. Lo w er the mo w er to the lo w est height-of-cut
position.
7. Star t the engine (refer to the Operator’ s Manual
for instr uctions) and eng ag e the blade or
po w er tak eoff (PTO and let the mo w er r un for
1 to 3 min utes .
Note: T he larg er the mo w er , the long er y ou
ma y need to w ash.
8. Diseng ag e the blade and the po w er tak eoff
(PTO).
9. Stop the engine and w ait for all mo ving par ts
to stop .
10. Shut off the w ater and remo v e the g arden hose
from the w ashout por t.
Note: If the mo w er is not clean after one
w ashing, soak and let it stand for 30 min utes ,
then re peat the process ag ain.
11. R un the mo w er ag ain for 1 to 3 min utes to
remo v e ex cess w ater .
